Beschreibung
Join us at our project in the Burgundy region, where we bring new life to the historic lock house on the Dijon-Paris cycle route. Our project aims to offer a cozy café, a free bike repair station, and vibrant cultural events, all while respecting the environment and promoting sustainable living. Come relax by the water and be part of our community-driven initiative.
The idea came from eight folks, aged 25 to 35, most of them living in Joigny. We fell for this cute little house and wanted to start a project involving everyone in the community, no matter their age or background, to bring us all closer together. We only got the keys to the house in May 2024, so it's still a work in progress. We're planning to spend the spring fixing it up to make it cozy for next summer. Currently living in the house to care of it during winter is Sylv (they/them), and during the work periods, some other members of the association will come and get work done.
We all speak English and some of us can speak German or Spanish.Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

Arbeit
As a volunteer, your tasks may include preparing food for shared meals, improving your French by chatting with locals, assisting people organising activities in the community house (concert, yoga, educational and art workshops), taking care of the house (cleaning, decoration out of second-hand materials), and tending to the exterior (gardening, growing vegetables). Also feel free to share your passions by organising various activities (music, sport event, games). Join us to be part of a vibrant community and gain valuable experiences in a beautiful setting.
Note : Volunteers from Workaway are not working on tasks related to the cafe. This part of the project is only managed by our French volunteers living nearby.Sprachen

We have a dormitory with 6 single bed at the upper floor of the house. On the ground floor, there is a bathroom for volunteer use only. You can also pitch a tent in the garden.
Food will be provided but, as volunteer will be the only ones spending the night in the house, you'll have to organize between yourselves to prepare meals. Was noch ...
During your free time, you'll have plenty of activities to enjoy. You can swim in the river Yonne, bike around the scenic paths, hike in the nearby Othe Forest, or play sports at the local tennis, ping pong, and volleyball courts.
Joigny, a beautiful medieval city with all essential services, is easily accessible. You can reach us by train from Joigny station, which connects to Paris, Dijon, and Lyon. We also offer bikes for you to use during your stay. A day trip to Paris is just a 1 hour and 15-minute train ride away. Don't miss the wonderful market in Joigny on Saturday mornings, featuring delicious local specialties.
Regarding our lifestyle and house rules, we eat vegetarian or vegan meals and value ecological sustainability and mutual respect. We strive to create a safe, inclusive, and LGBT Queer friendly space where consent is paramount. Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, ageism, and fatphobia are not tolerated here or anywhere else.Etwas mehr Information
