Beautification of a Colonial Estate (Various projects: bioconstruccion, artistic proyects, organic farm, animal breeding, marketing, organization of events) and help to manage and grow a dog shelter
My name is Luis, I am twenty eight years old and five years ago I moved to the Sacred Valley of the Incas to start this new and wonderful adventure: to save from the ruins a very big and very old family property that was abandoned for more than twelve years ( since the death of my grandfather) and turn it into an incredibly beautiful place, into a little paradise on Earth. Save this house from the ruins means a lot to me, because I have a beautiful family and I have always felt that I owe a debt to all of them, because despite my madness, excesses and adolescent rebelliousness, all of them have always trusted me, they have had me as the "spoiled child" of the family and they have given me more love than I have deserved ... so for me this is the perfect way to give back so much love and trust. Also, this house was always in my heart, it is a place where I was very happy during my childhood and from which I keep many beautiful memories.
My mother died in my adolescence, leaving me an amount of money that I had to use to pay all my university studies. However, my dream was and still is to become a great writer, one of those writers who have adventurous lives around the world and who have many interesting things to tell. So at the age of 18 I decided to leave the university to pursue my dream. My idea was to use my money to live in complete freedom, without the need to work, and write one amazing book that can give me fame and money to continue living when I ran out of money that I inherited. That was my life until my father inherited this property and trust me, putting it in my hands and giving me complete freedom to work and create this project.
When I arrived here, things were hard: the house was full of insects, cobwebs and rats. The roof was very old and every time it rained the water filtered in several places of the house, filling it with wáter. The property didnt have a modern water system and often had to go down to the river to bring buckets of wáter. There was no bathroom (it was just a dark room with a hold in the middle) and i took showers with cold water from the river. There was not a good electrical system either, so I had to read, eat or walk around the house using the light of a candle. The walls and floors of the house were very dirty and mistreated, because during the time that the house was abandoned the people of the village came to eat the fruits of the trees of the garden and brought with them their cows and sheeps, which left sleep inside the house on rainy days. The wooden doors, windows and balconies were badly damaged by neglect, rain and insects...
In addition, I were alone during the firsts months because I had no idea about Workaway...
In short, I found these and many other difficulties in my way, difficulties that now i appreciate having...if things had been easy, where would my merit? For what could I be proud of today? Also, all these difficulties have made me a better man, they have made me stronger physically, mentally and spiritually.
But things changed since im in Workaway, what you can find today is a really comfortable, clean and beautiful place. Maybe i dont need to describe you the work done in these five years, you can see that in all the reviews that volunteers left me... However, the work is not finished in the property and there are still many more things that I want to do. Above all, there is a project that I have been postponing for lack of time and money, a project that for me is even more important than the restoration of the house: build a shelter for abandoned dogs. I can not keep seeing everyday so many dogs suffering in the streets, it's something that breaks my heart continuously and frustrates me not being able to do anything, not having enough power and money to be able to save all of them.
One of the great loves of my life are dogs and before I die I want to save as many dogs as possible from the streets.
I hate to say it, but in this part of the world it seems that people believe that animals have no feelings. They abandon them in the streets, beat them, see them wandering the streets, dying of hunger, cold and loneliness, and nobody does anything to help them. Have you ever seen a little female dog running scared, being harassed and raped again and again by a group of big dogs? Have you ever seen the pain and desesperation in her eyes? Have you ever seen a female dog having babies in the middle of a cold and hard street, and then have to go desperately to look for food in the trash?
Now that things are going better with my project, my priority is to start to save more dogs, specially females.
I do not intend to earn a single cent saving dogs, that's not my end. I have the space to have them, I have materials to build them houses, olunteers to bathe them, i just need volunteers to take care of them, bath them, gave them love, go to restaurants to collect rests of food, volunteers to help me to create a web site who can help me to find donations and adopters to all the dogs that o want to save from the streets...
The internet connection is limited (I can provide a couple of hours of Wi-Fi daily from my cell phone) for two reasons: Its very difficult and expensive to have a normal Wi-Fi system in this place and the other reason is that I think that this place would lose his essence if we have Wi-Fi all the time and people will have all the time their cell phones in their hands… Here we are forced to do something! like buy a wine to talk and laugh; like make a bonfire, play the guitar and sing; like drink some beers and playing cards; like go for a walk in the village, climb the nearby mountains or watch movies together at night ...
About work, I'm very young and I've always thought that being happy is the first thing we should look for, before work, money, etc., but I'm not stupid either not to know that I also need to work hard to move my project forward, so what I propose goes hand with my philosophy of life: combining work with hapiness. Maybe it is karma or simply that I have very good luck but the truth is that in all this time I have done very well with all the volunteers I have received, in my house there has always been a pleasant atmosphere, full of camaraderie, kindness, understanding and respect; we all contribute to keep the house always clean and tidy, we work and have fun together as friends ...Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

My house is very big and I usually host around 15 people from different parts of the world, making our coexistence perfect for a cultural exchange, as well as to learn and practice different languages.
In these five years of work I have received more than two hundred volunteers who have been interested in me and my project, so its not difficult to imagine everything I have learned from each of them. In addition, I have also worked with people from the village and I have been able to learn about their Andean customs and techniques of construction and agriculture. I have learned about construction with cement, stones, mud, reeds, wood, clay, glass and plastic bottles, about planting and caring for various herbs and vegetables, about electrical installations, I have learned to use various machines and tools to build furniture and all kinds of things with wood, I have learned to cook dishes from different parts of the world, to make bread, cheese, yogurt... in short, there are many and varied things that I have learned and now I can teach.
The place where my property is located has a special energy that can be felt from the first moment, its surrounded by older Apus (sacred mountains for the Incas because of their shape and size) and by two sacred rivers (the Vilcanota and one Ausangate slope). The house is full of stories and old and interesting objects. Just 3 meters from the main house, where once stood an Inca temple, was built a Catholic temple that belongs to my family and was formerly used to evangelize and convert the people of the town to Christianity.
Finally, in this area volunteers can make a real cultural exchange with the Andean culture. Ttio is a very small town (with less than 500 inhabitants) and the people are very friendly, especially with visitors, as they are not used to receiving tourists. Here you can get to know the Andean culture, far from commercial and tourist places; here you can practice your Spanish, because nobody in the village speaks English.Arbeit
I have so many ideas in my head, the property is so big and I have a great variety of tools (old and modern) and materials (stones, wood, clay, glass and plastic bottles, wood, etc.) that the the work that volunteers can do is more varied than you can imagine. My wish is to get to use every square meter of the property:
Become self-sustaining by planting vegetables of all possible kinds. Build beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms to rent them by bnb. Start to renovate the stables and the buildings that are around our temple (paint walls, arrange doors, floors, windows and decorate them) Build a greenhouse, a sauna, a tennis court, a swimming pool, a games room and a music studio.
I want to raise different kinds of animals, but since I dont like the idea of keeping them prisoners and then kill and consume them, I have thought about raising bees that can give me honey, ducks and chickens that provide me with eggs, cows that produce milk and horses with I can go out for a walk in the nearby forests. On the other hand, I would also like to have some interesting animals that can give more life to my home, like roosters that sing in the mornings, turtles, cats, parrots ...
I am very interested in receiving volunteers who can give meditation courses, yoga classes, English, Spanish or other things that may interest my guests.
I want to embellish every corner of the property with flowers (so if someone could bring me or sell me some exotic and beautiful flower seeds from other countries, I would be very grateful) and artistic creations of any kind. I love art so I'm always open to artistic projects.
I need volunteers who can help me create a web page, go out to the streets to market some products that I produce and to promote with the tourists of the city my place and visits to the rainbow mountain.
And, of course, I also need volunteers who can help me with household chores: cooking, keeping the house clean and tidy, bathing my dogs, shopping, etc. For me it would be wonderful to host volunteers who can stay for a month or longer and who can help me manage everything, so I can get some rest from work and have more time to write...Sprachen

Its very easy and cheap to get to my house from the city (and it's also easy to leave from my house to the city or to different interesting places) there are several buses and cars that leave every 15 minutes and can leave you very close to my house.

The different deals also depend on the time that the volunteers commit to work in my house, the skills they have and the comforts and extra services they want to use during their stay (private rooms, the use of my washing machine, fishing net , bicycles, the use of my music studio with all its instruments, the use of my clay oven and my wood, the free use of the gas stove, etc.)
usually make different deals with the volunteers regarding the days and hours that they can or want to work, or dependig their skills, the time that they can stay here and work, the comforts or the extra services that you wish to receive from me (like pprivate rooms for couples, use of the horses, music room, washing machine, telescope, bikes, etc.)
For me absolutely everything is negotiable.
I provide vegan meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.Etwas mehr Information
