We offer long-term opportunities (usually 4-6 months) for Spanish and English speakers to support our local staff in our reception and restaurant and other areas as required. We currently have availability from early January.
Our lodge is in the Inca town of Ollantaytambo, gateway to Machu Picchu in the Sacred Valley of Cusco, Peru. It is a small (10 rooms) quality Bed and Breakfast located in the pedestrian Inka streets in a corner of the village, set in beautiful gardens on an Inka terrace. Staff are all local. Couples and singles welcome.

Most of our staff are local and a key element of the help needed is to empower our local staff with regard to speaking English as well as computer and administrative skills. We require that you speak some spanish, but you are bound to learn alot more, and maybe some Quechua too. Ollantaytambo is an amazing place, a living Inca town, and a comfortable place to discover indigenous Quechua culture. There is also a growing international community.
Staff are happy to practise languages together and teach you about the town and its deep culture, and is a quiet and relaxing place to live with a large garden and kitchen.
Please only apply if you are available quite long term and speak Spanish fluently.
One of our housekeeping staff graduated a few years ago in tourism administration and having run our restaurant is now working in our reception. As well as working alone on reception, we would like you to help her, and other staff, so that they can gain extra skills and be left alone in reception more often at busier times. We may also request help in other areas including the restaurant, depending on our needs and your skills.
One of our development plans for low season is to offer yoga and well-being courses and retreats.
We have been working with work-exchangers for several years, alongside local reception and cleaning staff. A previous local daytime receptionist started off at our Lodge doing housekeeping, breakfast and then accounts and email and then reception. She went on to run her own hotel, thanks to the training provided by the owner and work exchange helpers.
We only work with long term Workawayers including couples, minimum 2-3 months, with good Spanish and English, who are personable, responsible and hard-working and with good administrative and personal skills and attention to detail to help at the lodge.
Couples and singles are welcome.

All staff at the lodge are learning English and should be happy to practice with you and help with Spanish and Quechua words and phrases.
A double room with comfy bed and private bathroom. Currently we are considering changing the helpers' accommodation to a large room without private bath, but this will be discussed and is unlikely and would be agreed in advance.
You can help yourself to breakfast every day and we provide an allowance for lunch or dinner at a local restaurant, or for you to cook yourself when the restaurant is not busy (we only offer dinner and breakfast to guests).
The Sacred Valley is a focal point for tourists but there are lots of ruins that are rarely visited. There is great public transport and lots of lovely hiking.

Our internet can occasionally be spotty for calls, but works well generally in reception and most of the rooms. We will ask you to work your 25 hours with focus, although the pace for some of that time may be more relaxed.
