Dear hosts and Workawayers, I'm Elina from Finland and have always loved traveling! My first independent trip, in a group though, was a cycling tour in Switzerland when I was 18. I’ve also lived and volunteered in Africa for about a year and worked in Spain for 1,5 years. Already for many years I’ve dreamed of visiting South America, and now that my Spanish has finally reached more or less the level of intermediate, it could be time to pursue that dream. I spent last year traveling in Spain, in the States and in Northern Finland while doing some online Finnish teaching, and slightly got hooked into that kind of lifestyle. At the moment I feel like not working in a state school in Finland anymore, but rather searching for other options. I LOVE sun, summer, sea, and the Spanish language, so if the place has those qualities, I'm more than willing to explore and experience it. I adore outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, walking, swimming etc., and also sports such as volleyball, badminton, padel etc., but in a relaxed, not too serious way ;) I also want to keep teaching in some way, e.g. English to Colombian people, and get to know different people and cultures. I’m interested in many things and get excited by diverse activities and tasks, and that’s why WorkAway sounds like a really fascinating way to travel. I’ve done Couch Surfing and Trusted Housesitters before and have really positive experiences of those, and I guess Work Away might be something similar.
