  • Description

    Welcome to Kakheti!
Our place unites a family house, small wine cellar and vineyards.
Therefore, your experience is going to be about Wine, Vineyards, Fruits, Vegetables, wine-tasting service, Art, Creativity, helping with the youth clubs and promotion of our wine.
We welcome both short and long term volunteers but it should be shortest 1 week. No limits for long term but first agreement is 1 week and then if things go well we expand our agreement.

The village is called Sanavardo. 2 hours drive from Capital city Tbilisi, it is in the eastern Part of Georgia, where the best lands for vineyards are. Population is few, but it is 7 minutes drive to the nearest small city Kvareli, which is popular destination for tourists, mainly for 2 beautiful lakes, Beautiful mountains, old tunnel in mountains which is a natural refrigerator for wine since old times, as micro-zone for wine Kindzmarauli and other great wines that are produced in this region. Locals mostly do not speak foreign languages, only old people mostly can speak Russian, and very young ones can speak English.

Me (Ucha) and my father have started up a new social hostel in May 2016 (hostel is on hold for now becuase we are trying to focus more on wine-tasting services), on the basis of our house. Also we have a vineyard and a peach garden as a family business since 10 years. We sell grapes to factories and also produce different Wines for ourselves and guests. Since October 2017 we have started to build a traditional wine cellar and soon we will start producing the wine in Qvevri (the clay barrel) with oldest traditions, just as our ancestors used to produce thousands of years ago.

Depending on the season there are always different things to do. Sometimes things can be kind of routine with land works in vineyard, sometimes lot of fun with wine-making or peach-picking, help with English language club and movie club is needed every weekend, sometime we do some art projects and sometimes little crafts or construction works. We also need help in cooking and cleaning.
You can be helpful in many ways, and if you are hardworking, open minded, creative and social individual, then you are very welcome to spend part of your traveling story in our space.

We provide free stay only. volunteers are expected to help 3 hours per day, 5 days a week. You will receive accommodation in a shared dorm or maybe even separate room (depending on season and number of guests).
Regarding the food, there is no big shop in the village so we usually gather money and buy products in nearest city Kvareli and cook big meals for all. You can consider around 4 EUR per day for that. Also please consider that we cook mostly vegetarian food.

I speak English, Russian and German, and if you can speak one of these languages it is sufficient.

Our goal is not just productivity in business or agriculture, we are trying to create a co-living space for creativity and cooperation where travelers will be able to connect with local youth and both sides gain intercultural experience.

So far we have had very positive experiences, and we keep having very positive expectations :)

    Looking forwards to it

    What else ...

Georgia is Cradle of wine, and it is one of the main fields of interests for most tourists in Georgia.
To explore wine-making and viticulture, Kvareli region is one of the best. There are several very nice monasteries with wine cellars around, also wine factories, mountains, great nature and views.
Night-life is lacking, but you can always go to Tbilisi for a weekend and have fun there. the Minibus costs around 3-4 EUR and it takes 2 hours to get to Tbilisi.
