Carole is a very organised, responsible, sociable and reliable person, interested and enthusiastic to do tasks and learn new skills, she is very creative, easy going and relaxed, always respectful and polite to both us and our children. Carole was very independent, she came with her bike which she used for her own bike rides and getting from A to B.
We found communicating with Carole to be easy (her English is excellent) and it has been a pleasure to have Carole as part of our household.

… read more for three months, time flew by very quickly as the boys and I did so many different activities: swimming, biking to buy pastries, baking banana bread, visiting historic houses and walking around town.
The family was brilliant, lovely and extremely kindhearted. We had great talks together, bonded over different topics, and I especially loved the barbecues in the garden on warm summer nights and just chatting away. I enjoyed the hours working and doing ad hoc tasks, as I learned so many new things and I was able to do different jobs every day. I loved how open they were, also in terms of communication, and with everything they taught me. They were also always open to trying new dishes and enjoyed the meals I cooked as much as I enjoyed their delicious meals.
It was truly a great experience, and I am forever grateful for my time with the family. Thank you for the special memories and I would absolutely stay with them as a workawayer again. So, if you’re looking for an amazing workaway experience, then this is the perfect place :)

One of my favorite parts of the experience was the cultural exchange through food and music. It was so enriching to share and learn from each other's traditions, which added an extra layer of connection to my stay.
The garden was truly one of a kind and absolutely amazing. I loved working in it, whether it was cutting grass, using the leaf hoover, or simply enjoying the peaceful atmosphere—it was such a rewarding experience.
I also assisted with various ad hoc tasks, and their open communication and kindness made the entire experience truly unforgettable.

I’ve spent more than four months with this amazing family, my room was so cozy, the house is wonderfull, the garden is pretty and they showed me great spots around, family food reunions, the boys play piano concert at home and the unforgettable fun time at evennings with all them.
The duties were consistent help them doing gardening, small manutaince tasks, DYI, they have all tools necessary and explain very clear how to do. Play with the boys, who are clever, cheerful and enjoy almost all activities I proposed for them. They love play football, basketball, tag, balance in trampolining and lego. I loved spent time with them!
They are flexible people about your jobs and free time, also they will enjoy a lot exchange culture through food and cooking.

… read more to our large garden taking care of plants, doing weed control, concreting paths, cutting grass and working power tools, also painting sheds aswell as creative decoration in our boys bedroom.
Kim works fast and does a thorough job which she takes pride in completing. Kim is wonderful to have in our house; she is always very cheerful, enjoys socialising with us in the evenings, is a great sports companion to the boys and is always happy to help and oblige even in her downtime. Kim is very polite, friendly, thoughtful, relaxed, has a good sense of humour, is dilligent, hardworking, responsible and extremely capable and very happy to take on whatever task or number of tasks that need doing. Kim speaks English well and she works at improving this every which way she can; listening to the radio as she works aswell as interacting with people who visit. Kim has been great companian for our boys and is not bothered with their squabbling and successfully leads activities with them playing football, piano, trampolining, lego and board games with them.
Kim has been a really terrific Workawayer for us, and we are sure will be so for the next lucky host. We will all definitely miss Kim, but we look forward to her returning to us, or seeing her again at some point in the future :-)

This was my first workaway and it was worth it. The host and her family are quite hospitable and fun to be with. I learnt a lot about English food, and it was fun cooking with them. Staying with this family was my first experience being a volunteer and living outside my country. With them I was able to improve a lot who I am and especially develop my English skills.

… read more they made me feel like part of the family, they provided everything to me and we went to a LOT of amazing places that I will never forget. They honestly do everything they can for their guests and are very generous people, the experience was way above my expectations (which were already pretty high) and I feel I got friends for life after the amazing time we had.
Talking about the accommodation, they have a marvelous historic house with modern amenities that make life really good, an awesome garden that is amazing to do outside activities. My room was super cozy and located in the 3rd floor, I basically had my own floor, was very private and super comfortable. The location is fantastic, a small town with beautiful sights, some really good supermarkets that are 5 minutes away by walk, an amazing place to have an ice-cream, hangout, do shopping and other things just 15 minutes away by bicycle.
The tasks were really easy and I enjoyed doing everything, they have some pretty cool garden tools which I had a lot of fun with. I was never bored because there's a lot of things to do, but they are very relaxed about it so there's no pressure.
I would say the main thing is to take care of the boys, taking them to and back from school and school clubs (which is a 7 minute walk), playing with them and etc. They both are lovely boys that just love to do things, I wouldn't even say that taking care of them is a task, was more likely having fun with my friends. They are open to everything but I would say their favorite thing is bouncing on the trampoline, in total we may have played on the trampoline for about 1000 hours 🤣🤣. I wish to visit them again, I'm definitely going to miss them both!

Vinícius (or Vinnie) lived with us over a period of 7 months during which he was also hosted for a month by another family while we were away on holiday, this family also invited him back for holiday with them. … read more leaves, cutting grass, strimming, planting grass, operating large power tools, edging and many other things. He looked after our boys playing sports with them, trampolining, taking them on long day trips on the train to farawy places, taking them to school, playing games and interacting well with them. Vinnie also took on an out building renovation job, outdoor painting tasks and was happy to do anything we asked him to do. Vinnie is a true self-starter and is very self motivated, he is very easy to live with, he is honest, very capable, highly sociable and speaks excellent English. Communication was never an issue and Vinnie only needs to be asked to do something once and remembers any relevant intructions or information. In fact Vinnie often doesn't need to be asked to do things, he is investigative and if he sees something needs doing he does it or if you talk about something he does it the next day!! Vinnie is very smart and enjoys new challenges and doing tasks he might not have done previously - everything he did was to a high standard. Vinnie also often took care of family grocery shopping, he is very reliable and trustworthy. Vinnie loves his food but is an unfussy eater and ate everything we cooked, although we do try to give people food they like, we eat from a wide range. Best of all Vinnie has a great sense of fun and humour and is fantastic company to have in the house, being also polite, very cheerful, considerate and a really interesting person who can converse on a wide range of topics. We tasked Guilherme with a variety of gardening tasks, instructing him to use some semi-industrial tools and machinery and he was really very comfortable operating these tools and happy to do these jobs, which he completed very well. He was really a great help in the garden, even doing more menial tasks like pulling ivy and gathering sticks. Guilherme did other ad hoc jobs in the house we asked him to do, he was always happy to oblige and help. Guilherme even baked us a great cake introducing us to Brazilian carrot cake !!

… read more surprised how much of the old craftsmanship is still visible. I really want to emphasise what a great job has been done in regards to combining new technology and innovation with the old architecture of the house. It is really unique. Their garden is humongous and full of life. Being located next to unused land, you can play and have your own little adventure.
Apart from some cooking, I mainly spend my time there by homeschooling the boys and playing games with them. Both are playful and curious. With a push in the right direction, they are open to new ideas and willing to learn new things. Both have unique and distinct personalities so they need to be treated accordingly. By teaching them, I learned a couple of new things and always enjoyed the challenge. Playing games with them was fun as well. Especially hide and seek and cops and robbers were part of my favourite games with them.
The hosts are great cooks. I remember, every time I was eating with them, I was stunned about how delicious the food was. Because of their multicultural background, you can also experience a wide range of different dishes. As mentioned before, they respect you. When I got seriously injured, they spend their time by taking care of me, even though they had their own work to deal with. I never expected a host-family to be this considerate and kind. Seriously.

Lucas genuinely enjoyed spending time with the boys who valued the interest he was taking in them. We found Lucas polite and well mannered and he made an effort to fit in with us and our household as much as possible. He was scheduled to stay longer with us but due to an accident he needed to prioritise his own needs and so he returned home to get medical attention.

Christoph needed to return to Germany to sit an exam in the middle of the pandemic and was unable to make it back to us. So we look forward to his return another time !!

The family are a fun, multicultural, social and adorable family. I stayed with them about 2.5 weeks before Christmas and I felt really included in their family and had some great experiences.
Their house is a huge old Manor house that they renovated and it is truly stunning, especially the kitchen was so thought out and a joy to cook in.

The kids are extremely fun and adorable, they always have energy to play and I really loved spending time with them, playing Lego, board games and reading.
They look very innocent, but are the cheekiest boy I've ever met, so don't let yourself be fooled.
The hosts have a huge collection of movies and votes for the Baftas, so I was able to watch some brand new films. She's also an amazing cook and makes a lot of traditional English dishes. Her fish and cottage pie are amazing.
I was very fortunate to also meet her sister and her husband from Ireland and got invited to stay at her brothers in Mexico.

Moritz stayed with our family for 2.5 weeks and he fitted in really well in our household. He was great with our boys and spent time playing with them, taking them to and from school, babysitting and teaching them a little German. Moritz is great fun, is very sociable and interesting to converse with.
While Moritz was staying with us we met Sally who came on a short visit and who was delightful and also spent time interacting with the boys and supporting Moritz in his duties.
We wish them well in their travels and hoping that our paths will cross again !!

I stayed 5 weeks with the hosts and the boys and I had a great time. The boys are very energetic, funny and for sure it will never get boring with them. The work included playing, school runs and babysitting. There were also several jobs to do outside (removing ivy, weeding, lots of leaf blowing and a few other things).

… read more cooks 😊 They always asked me what I prefer and when I got a cold, they really cared for me and gave me the free time I needed. If you are into movies, this could be very interesting for you, since they have a very big collection. There is a nearby shopping center with a cinema and the bus station is only 150 meters away. Their home is 1 hour away from London and a train station is in the neighbouring village! I went to London easily and very cheap every weekend. The hosts picked me up from the train station several times. Overall, I had a really nice time with many interesting conversations and lots of funny games. I would recommend this place for everyone who likes with children and I felt welcomed from the beginning.You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
