    Description

We are a small team in an listed Power Station in Luckenwalde, a town near Berlin. This power station is being transformed into a centre for art and culture with a special emphasis on the production of renewable energy.

We are looking for volunteers who are open-minded, motivated, and most of all energetic. You will be provided with a room and bathroom in the power station itself, where other members of our team live together with artists. Food and drink 3 times a day will be provided for and we enjoy cooking and sharing our food together in a communal kitchen and lounge. At the rear of the building, we have a large court with many green spaces where we are planning an agriculture programme. We have a brand new puppy who you are welcome to play or relax in the outdoor space with.

This year we are primarily working on installing the exciting new carbon neutral energy facility, so are looking for people with manual skills, such as plumbing, electricity, engineering, mechanics but also volunteers who love to cook and contribute creativity would be a great asset to our community! We will also soon start renovating the ground floor into gallery spaces and a bar, so if you are interested to renovate beautiful large rooms - we would love to hear from you. Most importantly we are looking for energetic people willing to help, learn and get stuck in with a variety of tasks!

The building is located in a nice town, 30 mins south of Berlin Südkreuz by train. Luckenwalde is close to beautiful woods and lakes, which you are very welcome to explore at your leisure.

All the work will take place under supervision. Volunteers can therefore learn much about construction work, renovation and reparation that is necessary to keep a building running.

Luckenwalde is 30 minutes from Germany's capital, Berlin, but still within a rural area that allows you to explore natural landscapes. With other people and artists living in the building, you will meet people from all parts of the world. We encourage artistic activities and can offer much room for other activities.

There are also still many industrial structures of the building that are still intact and which we want to transform for our own energy concept. If you are interested, you can learn something about the different methods of energy production, practices in contemporary art and urban planning initiatives.

    What else ...

There are many small historic, traditional German towns in the area with a fascinating industrial character that are worth visiting. There also lakes and many nice paths for cycling and hiking. Luckenwalde itself is a nice town with some shops, particularly amazing second hand shops! and a fast, frequent rail connection to Berlin that runs into the night.
