Description
We are currently looking for a workaway to support our daughter. She's 16 and is doing her iCSEs online. She is rather introverted, quiet and shy and needs someone to help her establish a study routine and learn how to study in general.
We also welcome help with daily tasks such as cooking, organising the house and/or helping in our micro-school. You could even offer a workshop if there's a particular area you're good at.
In August 23 we started a private school for neurodivergent students (2e, gifted, autistic, dyslexic, ADHD, ...) but it's open to anyone interested in project-based and individual learning. The students are aged between 11 and 18. You could help with tutoring, cooking, running a workshop, cleaning the rooms and there are also opportunities to help with marketing, website development and SEO depending on your skills.
I am a high school teacher with a passion for empowering learners to discover their unique strengths and make a positive impact on a changing world. I have been working towards this goal for over 20 years and have won an award for one of my teaching formats (Teen-Preneurs). My husband Adrian is a self-employed sociologist and we have a 15-year-old daughter who is studying iGCSEs within our micro-school community, and a 13-year-old son.
In my spare time I practise aerial acrobatics once or twice a week in a rented gym in a public school. If you are interested, you are more than welcome to join us or offer a workshop in the gym or school building. Other sports that we and our children do in our free time: inline skating, climbing, skiing, cross-country skiing, trampolining and cycling (only the boy), swimming;Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You can learn how to establish a Micro-School (as a NPO Start-UP). You can learn about alternatives to mainstream-schooling. You can learn a lot about Neurodiversity and why it's important to be aware of it. You can learn Aerial Acrobatics (silk or Lyra/Hoop), climbing - in winter skiing and cross-country-skiing. You can learn/practice German and/or English. You can get an insight on how to manage a family, how to maintain a house and a garden, how to keep chicken, how to encourage free thinking. You can learn German and improve your English by using it (I'm an English teacher).

I stayed with her and her family end of April 2024 to the Middle of May 2024
My life has changed since meeting her and working with her.
She is a doer and not a talker! She works really hard and is a great mother to her two children.

The house is beautiful, the kids sweet, though the one who stole my heart was their cat.

I would honestly recommend them to anyone: each of them are very interesting and touching in they own way. The help you'll provide is pretty flexible and the amount of work is very very very reasonable. Their way of life was overall a good… read more

We very much enjoyed him staying with us and would be happy to host him again any time.
I would agree that it was particularly difficult at some points in our stay. The house and space is beautiful and all 4 of us were in a basement room.
We enjoyed doing lots of activities with the family and children, but the majority of these were inside activities… read more
