    Description

We have an 85 acre mountain rainforest landscape in the hinterland behind Byron Bay and near the town of Mullumbimby. It is a beautiful, ancient rainforest valley with fresh water creeks, swimming holes, waterfalls, rainforest and mountain plateaus.

We are a certified organic permaculture farm and grow various foods, herbal medicines and useful plants mostly small scale for our own personal use rather than commercially. We have goats, sheep, chickens, bees and cows but none of them are farmed and are much loved and help with grass management living their best lives and cared for naturally and ethically.

We have a lot of experience with self-sufficiency, resilience, homesteading etc and have off-grid power and food, water, medicine, energy, shelter and animal systems.

Accommodation is usually a self-contained private space / cabin / dome / room / large tent with bed - most with wifi and either fully self contained or with access to a couple of nearby shared kitchens, bathrooms, lounges etc and sometimes sharing those facilities with 1-2 others depending on timing.

Jobs are usually a good variety and are matched towards interests / skills / experience.
This may include some of these things...

    Planting trees and vegetables
    Organic gardening
Animal Care - sheep, goats, chickens, cows
Light housework, sorting, laundry and linen
Moving things around and general farm maintenance
    Food - cooking, preservation, storage
    Chopping firewood
    Cutting grass
    Painting
    Repairs and odd- jobs
    Food collection / preservation

We have movies, books, magazines and internet access and the farm itself has beautiful mountain valley views, rainforest, animals and nearby are fresh water waterfalls, rock pools and swimming holes which are great in summer with walks/hikes and other things to do.

When not helping with various jobs , there are plenty of opportunities to explore, relax, study, enjoy the land, animals and gardens, make and create artistic and useful things with plants, bamboo and natural materials and food and herbs to make medicines, cosmetics and preserved foods.

Mullumbimby is great cosmopolitan, diverse rural town (7kms away) with people from around the world and lots going on with many activities, events, music, arts, markets, festivals, cafes and the beaches of Brunswick Heads nearby.

Byron Bay has more going on 25 minutes away. Hitch hiking is common and safe around here and there are often lifts available with residents going to town and back. Creeks and swimming are all close by in walking and biking distance.

People willing to help with a good attitude can enjoy a beautiful place to stay in, nice food, meeting people and animals, learning skills, gaining knowledge, enjoying activities and making connections.
