    Description

We are a socially responsible enterprise consisting of a commercial dairy and production facility to make products such as yogurt, cheese and ice cream for local and overseas customers. Plus a tourism and farmer training centre.

We have built a facility to house the buffalo, milk them, and make cheese.

Male buffalo in Laos are primarily used for meat and occasionally working in the fields. Female buffalo are kept to produce more buffalo. At the core of our sustainable business model we rent the female buffalo at $110 each (approx. 1 month salary) from the farmers for a period of approximately 8 months. In addition we provide all vaccinations, improved feed and care for the calves. Left in the villages, up to 40% of calves die. After the 8 months the buffalo and calf are returned to the farmer with the additional income. In conjunction with the Laos government we have also implemented a breeding program to improve the genetics of the local buffalo.

We also provide various practical workshops for the local agricultural college and university and training for local farmers on basic animal husbandry, grass cultivation and biogas development.

The farm employs 40 local team providing training from visiting veterinarians and experts, some team have been overseas for training, we provide free English lessons 4 times per week for our team and the local school kids, and complimentary housing.
