how to go to Korat from Bangkok?
Bangkok (abbreviation BKK) has a very good infrastructure and therefore it is easy to go from there to Korat. Click on the following links to see screenshots from google maps or do it on your own by using "airport bangkok suvarnabhumi" as the starting address and "northern bus terminal (mo chit 2) thailand" as the destination address. Please note: the Airport Link only runs between 6:00 a.m. and midnight! If you arrive too early/late, take a taxi from the airport to the bus terminal. You should use the service of "Public Taxi" if you take a taxi. Just follow the sign when you want to leave the airport. It is outside of the aiport on the right hand side. The service ensures that the driver 1. Uses the taxi-meter 2. The driver gets the address translated in thai 3. You will receive a receipt to report a misconduct to the agency. The service costs 50 bath. The driver has to pay a fee for using the highway. Keep in mind what he paid. You can also see that on the signs you have to pass. At the end you have to pay the amount shown on the taxi-meter and the fee. If you do not know the fee, the driver might tell you a different price.
How to go to korat by subway and train:
SRT is the skytrain which drives on a bridge through bkk. MRT is the subway. Once you have reached the MRT station Kamphaeng Phet, you can also walk to the final bus terminal, because there is no schedule for the buses and you never know when the next will come. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from MRT station Kamphaeng Phet to the Mo Chit bus terminal. If you take the escalator from the MRT station, you will see the blue bus station sign outside. Pass the sign and turn left. After 20 minutes you reach a junction with traffic lights and on the left side you can already see some buses. Cross the junction and follow the street until you reach the entrance on the left side. On the the second floor you can buy your ticket for 220 bath. At the moment (september 2013) you can buy the ticket to Korat (Nahkon Ratchasima) at counter 52. In Korat are two terminals (old and new). Clarify with us where you will be picked up, before you buy the ticket. Buses go from bkk to korat every hour. On board you will get a bottle of water and a snack. A toilet is also on board. It takes 3-4 hours to drive to korat.
