Description
We’re Mélanie and Nicolas, and we’re opening the gates of our self-sufficient micro-farm to you, tucked away near the village of Saint André en Royans, surrounded by meadows, forests, streams and mountains.
Here, we live simply, in rhythm with the garden, the animals, the sun and the rain. It’s real life — the kind that smells of earth and animals, wood-fired cooking, and the slow passing of the seasons.
We’ve designed our farm to be resilient and nearly self-sufficient:
- we grow our own vegetables, berries, and aromatic herbs
- we make our own bread, pizzas, vinegar, herbal teas, and homemade preserves
- we raise animals, collect rainwater, heat with firewood, use dry toilets, and in the summer, we shower outdoors with sun-warmed water
We’re looking for a helping hand with the many day-to-day tasks of farm life:
- in the garden: sowing, planting, mulching, weeding
- on the land: clearing brush, removing branches, laying gravel, planting trees
- with the animals: feeding, cleaning shelters, opening and closing pens
- in the guesthouses: cleaning and preparing the rooms
No two days are alike here. The rhythm follows nature, the weather, and the work that needs doing. It can be tiring at times, but it’s always meaningful.
You’ll stay in a volunteer room with a private bathroom, in our family home. We’ll share our meals (usually vegetarian, always homemade) at lunch and dinner — and there will always be a homemade cake waiting for you if you get a little hungry.
Mélanie will guide you through each task with kindness and patience. Nicolas will bring you along on his many projects: gardening, building, repairs... and even baking bread, if you're curious about the process.
And because life isn’t just about work, you’ll also be able to enjoy the sauna, hike along the many trails around the farm, swim in the river at Pont-en-Royans, or even go horseback riding with Mélanie — if you know how to ride.
We’re looking for independent, hands-on people who aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and dive into a grounded, rural, and simple way of life. Here, you have to love getting your hands in the soil — and not mind getting a little dirty along the way!

Nous, c’est Mélanie et Nicolas, et on t’ouvre les portes de notre micro-ferme autonome, nichée près du village de Saint André en Royans, entre prairies, forêts, ruisseaux et montagnes.
Ici, on vit simplement, au rythme du jardin, des animaux, du soleil et de la pluie. C’est la vraie vie, celle qui sent la terre et les animaux, la cuisine au feu de bois et les saisons qui passent.
Notre ferme, on l’a pensée pour qu’elle soit résiliente et presque autonome :
- on cultive nos légumes, petits fruits et plantes aromatiques
- on prépare notre pain, nos pizzas, nos vinaigres, tisanes et conserves maison
- on élève nos animaux, on capte l’eau de pluie, on se chauffe au bois, on a des toilettes sèches et, l’été, une douche solaire
On a besoin d'un coup de main dans les différentes tâches du quotidien de la ferme :
- au potager : semer, planter, pailler, désherber
- sur le terrain : débroussailler, dégager les branches, poser du gravier, planter des arbres
- auprès des animaux : nourrir, nettoyer, ouvrir et fermer les abris
- dans les gîtes : ménage et mise en place des lits
Ici, les journées ne se ressemblent pas et le rythme suit la nature : les tâches évoluent au fil des jours, du temps qu’il fait et de ce qu’il y a à faire. C’est parfois fatigant, mais toujours plein de sens.
Tu dormiras dans une chambre avec salle de bain pour les volontaires, dans notre maison familiale. On partagera les repas (souvent végétariens et toujours faits maison) le midi et le soir. Il y aura toujours un gâteau qui t’attend en cas de petite faim.
Mélanie prendra soin de t’accompagner dans les tâches avec patience et bienveillance. Nicolas t’embarquera dans ses multiples projets : potager, bricolage, construction et même la fabrication du pain si le coeur t'en dit.
Comme on ne vit pas que pour travailler, tu pourras aussi profiter du sauna, partir te balader sur les nombreux chemins de randonnée, aller te baigner dans la rivière à Pont-en-Royans, ou même partir en balade à cheval avec Mélanie si tu sais monter.
On recherche des personnes autonomes, débrouillardes, qui n’ont pas peur de se retrousser les manches et qui ont envie de se reconnecter à une vie sobre, vraie, ancrée dans la nature. Ici, il faut aimer avoir les mains dans la terre et ne pas craindre de se salir un peu !
Si tu veux apprendre, transpirer, rire, partager, et vivre une vraie parenthèse loin de la folie du monde moderne, tu es le ou la bienvenu(e) chez nous.

Carpenter-carpenter by trade, I can transmit my know-how with pleasure. The construction of an autonomous micro-farm is exciting at all levels. We will discuss the Vercors, high places of resistance and beautiful natural environment.

A mountain trail leading past the house, lots of bucolic villages, canoeing, paragliding ... A small town is located 15 minutes from home with the train.
