    ***2024***
Hello, my name is Hanan, I am Dutch with Moroccan roots living in Spain and I am married to Mohamad, who is Spanish and also has a Moroccan background, we have a young son called Yahya who is on the Autism Spectrum. Meeting therapists for my son inspired me to start a training program for parents of children with autism in Morocco. Our first two Autism early intervention parent training programs have been a success, and we hope next year will be even bigger and better!

It will be held in Larache, Morocco from early July to - the start of September 2023.

    Why volunteer with us?

Studies have shown that early intervention therapy for young children with autism is the most effective long-term strategy to improve language ability, social interaction, and quality of life. Unfortunately, therapy can be very expensive in countries like Morocco and is only for one hour in a whole week. If parents don’t have the knowledge to reinforce what is learned in therapy at home, this precious time is lost. We aim to bridge this gap between therapists and families so that parents can have the tools to support and teach their young children with autism every day.

We hope that we will be able to prepare soon for our next Early Intervention Parent Training Program for parents who have a young child with autism in Larache, Morocco.
Here, global health professionals provide intensive therapy for the children while training parents in early intervention methods. We hope to create an educational network wherein families of young children with autism or other developmental disabilities can learn and, then in turn educate and support others. The program comes free to all qualifying families and is entirely run on donations of time and money.

As a volunteer, you will be able to meet people from all around the world, visit the beach, learn more about Moroccan culture and cuisine, and make a difference in a family’s life. Thank you!
