Hello, my name is Hanan, I am Dutch with Moroccan roots living in Spain and I am married to Mohamad, who is Spanish and also has Moroccan background, and we have a young son called Yahya who is on the Autism Spectrum. Meeting therapists for my son inspired me to start a training program for parents of children with autism in Morocco. Our first Autism early intervention parent training program was a success, and we are happy to announce that this year will be even bigger and better!

It will be held in Larache, Morocco from July 1st-August 8th. Volunteering hours will be Monday to Thursday from 10.00 to 17.00, Friday from 10.00 to 12.00, Saturday and Sunday free
We are in need of passionate, hard-working volunteers who have experience with the following:

    1. Personal assistants to organize admin. work and write reports
    2. Qualified professionals who are able to administer diagnoses (autism, etc.)
    3. Speech therapists
    3. Occupational therapists
    4. ABA therapists or background in ABA (min 3 years)
    5. Play therapists capable of teaching adults how to interact with their child during play
    6. Volunteers with a psychology degree to help assist the therapists
    7. A cook
    8. Translators (Moroccan Arabic to English)
    9. Individuals with Teachh background
    10. Social media/marketing manager

If you think you can add any further skills to this program, please do not hesitate to get in contact!

    Why volunteer with us?

Studies have shown that early intervention therapy for young children with autism is the most effective long term strategy to improve language ability, social interaction, and quality of life. Unfortunately, therapy can be very expensive in countries like Morocco and is only for one hour in a whole week. If parents don’t have the knowledge to reinforce what is learned in therapy at home, this precious time is lost. Our aim is to bridge this gap between therapists and families so that parents can have the tools to support and teach their young children with autism every day.

We are in our second year of our pilot Early Intervention Parent Training Program for parents that have a young child with autism in Larache, Morocco. Here, global health professionals provide intensive therapy for the children while training parents in early intervention methods. We hope to create an educational network wherein families of young children with autism or other developmental disabilities can learn, then in turn educate and support others. The program comes free to all qualifying families and is entirely run on donations of time and money.

As a volunteer, you will be able to meet people from all around the world, visit the beach, learn more about Moroccan culture and cuisine, and make a difference in a family’s life. Thank you!
