    Description

Welcome to arrive earlier and stay longer.

🌿 Welcome to , a pioneering community project nestled in the tranquil woodlands near Paredes de Coura, Northern Portugal. Our vision is to forge a harmonious relationship with nature, grounded in regenerative practices, diversity, and collaborative growth. We are an aspiring community, drawing inspiration from co-housing principles to balance shared and private spaces.

🏡 The journey of this place began with the restoration of a traditional stone farmhouse, laying the groundwork for a communal sanctuary dedicated to regenerative agroforestry and shared living. In its formative stages, we are expanding our network of local and regional enthusiasts who share our commitment to a lifestyle in harmony with nature.

🌳 Our mission is to transform the land into a vibrant food forest, an embodiment of ecological regeneration. Each interaction with the land deepens our understanding of sustainable coexistence and the delicate dance of natural rhythms.

🤝 We invite 2-3 people or households, aligned with our vision, to join us for a journey of exploration and growth. We welcome both long-term residents, ideally with a stable income and a readiness to deeply engage with our project, and mid-term volunteers, who can commit to a minimum stay of three weeks. Each person's contribution, whether for a few weeks or an extended period, is a vital thread in the tapestry of our communal narrative.

🛖 For accommodation, we offer a guest caravan, campervan spaces, and our yurt. The yurt is available for volunteer stays when not rented and can be rented for stays exceeding 3 months. Participants contribute around 3 hours daily (5 days a week) to communal tasks, integrating into the rhythm of shared responsibilities and experiences.

💫 Connect with our global community on our public Telegram channel to share in our story, visit our evolving haven, and find your path of engagement here.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We believe that learning to live together harmoniously is an essential and enriching journey. This process involves mastering the arts of communication, care, and setting healthy boundaries. Our community is a living laboratory where we explore these interpersonal dynamics, recognising that in an ever-changing world, reliance on collective wisdom and mutual support is vital for well-being.

Mathijs, with his background in physics, informatics, and a broad spectrum of interests ranging from technology, economy, and cosmology to deep ecology and community dynamics, is eager to share knowledge and experiences. Plus, we embrace a wide array of skills and insights from our extended network of friends, volunteers, and local collaborators. Our community thrives on a diverse exchange of ideas, from practical skills in sustainable living and agroforestry to philosophical discussions on consciousness and societal structures.

    Ongoing tasks
    - Pruning, chipping wood, preparing firewood. 🪵🪓
    - Clearing weeds. 🍀🌾🌱
    - Pointing our newly build walls with lime mortar. 🛠️
    - Finish existing tree inventory. 🌳🗺️📍

    Overall
We are inviting you to join us in the process, we are looking for individuals and couples to join us to form a temporary/prototype community. We prefer it if you stay longer (3-12 weeks), are autonomous, respect yourself and others and communicate your needs and limits clearly.

We expect you to help maintain your and our space clean and comfortable, share in common household tasks (cleaning, cooking, shopping, animal care). As a matter of fact, this is the only absolutely required work. Anything additional is fully optional. As such, we will not offer you food and we propose to equally share living expenses - or you can buy and prepare your own food if you please.

There is always a lot to be done (tree planting, forest maintenance, various construction works, coordination, household and animal care) and you are free to choose what to get involved in. If you stay longer, you could even develop some projects of your own.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We embrace the beauty and challenges of being vulnerable human beings. In our community, vulnerability is cherished, and safety is paramount. This means recognizing and respecting each other's preferences and essential needs. We understand that clear communication and respecting personal boundaries are crucial for nurturing real intimacy and trust within our collective.

We welcome those who naturally resonate with this ethos—individuals who intuitively adapt their behavior to those around them and expect the same consideration in return. This mutual understanding and adaptability are the cornerstones of our harmonious living.
