    Description

    Hi we are a simple, off grid smallholding. We have chickens and ducks for eggs and meat and turkeys for meat. we also raise pigs to slaughter and it is our intention to keep them under the oak trees to keep them in the traditional way. We do not have pigs at the moment, well not ones we eat )).
    we also have donkeys and horses who are our friends and companions. Plus cats and dogs.

    I would like to make a pigeon loft to keep pigeons, this is a very simple and sustainable source of self sufficiency.

    There are two cob houses that we live in. We would like to make a cob/pallet smoke house but other jobs keep coming in to be done first.

    At some point in the Spring we will be building a Rocket Mass Heater (RMH) which will be a very interesting project.

    There are many farm jobs to do like making gates, fixing fences, maybe some painting. Plus sharing in the care of the animals -- horses, donkeys, dogs, cats ,pigs, chickens, turkeys, and ducks. We are part of the Local Food Initiative where we exchange our duck and hen eggs for other produce.

    We are a chilled out, quiet place where you can live independently and enjoy your own space.
    We have two person caravan with its own outside kitchen/veranda it is comfortable and dry. we welcome people with their own van.
    ~~~~~~
    We moved to the Alentejo in 2004 and we lived in the caravan for two years until we moved into the small mud/straw/clay eco house.
    It is essential that you like animal. I am happy to share knowledge about the horses if you are interested. I encourage contact time with the horses.
    We offer accommodation and food which you can prepare in your own outside kitchen, it is also good to prepare and eat food together sometimes . We are 2 hours from Faro about 40 minutes car ride from the beaches at Vila Nova do Milfontes. we are very rural so if you have transport that would be good for you but this place is ideal for people who like the quiet life and happy with their own company. Our village is only 15 minutes walk and it has a bar, shop and padaria.
    We are off grid but we have wifi
    NO DOGS because of the livestock.
    We are about 30 minutes from the Atlantic coast with some of the most fabulous beaches you will ever see and we will make sure you get out and about.
  • Help
    Help
    Our farm is only 10 acres but there is always a lot to do and we could certainly do with a general helping hand.
    Particularly practical things like repairing/making fences; making gates; putting in irrigation
    Plus some building help like woodworking and building walls of cob (mud and straw).
    Also nice to cook and share meals together
    Plus animal care
