    Description

My name is Ali Hamad Zalabia. I am part of a bedouin family that lives in the beautiful valley of Wadi Rum in the south of Jordan.
We have a house with garden, a small olive grove, goats and camels.
I have been a tourist guide around the desert for 30 years. I have my own traditional Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum desert available for tourists which is a prime spot to watch sunsets with amazing panoramic view.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I can teach the Bedouin life and culture to the travellers, and how to take care of the animals and plants in my small farm. I can offer jeep tours and to spend a night in my traditional camp. If they wish to learn how to cook the traditional meals, or begin to learn arabic or practice it, it's the best way to live with local people.

During the tourism season we host climbers and tourists in our house and also cook for them. We'd like volunteers interested in learning more about the bedouin culture, and can prefferably stay for a few weeks, although we do not have a minimum stay requirement, any help is welcome.

We have 7 children and daily tasks will include teaching or conversing in English with our youngest children. We'd also like you to help with cleaning and cooking for the family and guests. We have a private room for the volunteers. We offer the opportunity of sleeping in the desert and seeing some of the tourist attractions on your visit.

I am looking for volunteers to help me with my website, people who are good with computers and know how to build or edit websites and can do online marketing for our tourist company.
Besides that I could use help with a little bit of everything - from replying to emails to desert tours, update social media accounts and booking, as well as help around my camp deep in the desert.
I also enjoy learning English and would be happy to help in teaching volunteers Arabic and other aspects of Bedouin life.
