    Description

Hello, my name is Lilli. I am German and have been living for over 25 years in a remote corner of the Chilean region of Aysén – right in the heart of Patagonia’s wild nature. My farm is located 55 km south of Cochrane, near the Carretera Austral, in a completely rural setting.

We sustain ourselves with what we produce on the farm: animals, the forest, and the garden. During the summer months, we also run a small rural tourism project with horseback riding tours (Refugio y Camping Río Nadis).

There is no phone signal, and electricity is limited (12V). Transportation to and from Cochrane can be coordinated with us (a combination of public and private transport). This is a perfect place to slow down, disconnect, and take time to experience a simpler, more natural way of life.

For the period October 1st, 2025 to February 28th, 2026 – which is spring and summer in Patagonia – I am looking for one motivated person to support me with the day-to-day work on the farm.

Maybe you’ve already traveled a bit, gained hands-on experience, or even started a similar project yourself. Maybe you’re thinking about moving to the countryside, or you’re simply ready for a change and curious about life on a Patagonian farm. Then this could be a real opportunity for you.

What matters most to me is that you bring experience and motivation in the following areas:
    -Working with horses
    -Permaculture and gardening
    -Manual work and practical skills
If you can imagine becoming part of this special place for a few months and are open to a simple, nature-connected way of living, then I’d be happy to hear from you.

    Warm greetings from Patagonia,
    Lilli

    Accommodation

For volunteers, we offer accommodation in our Refugio and campground, which includes a kitchen, two bathrooms, and potentially shared bedrooms with other guests of the shelter. Those who come with their own motorhome or bring a tent can also use the refugio, which is located 250 meters from our house. Depending on the season, there may also be a bedroom available for a Workawayer in my house. Meals are prepared together, or volunteers can cook in the refugio's kitchen, depending on the situation and preference. We mainly eat what the countryside provides, and we bring some groceries from the small city Cochrane roughly once a week."

  • What else ...

    What else ...

In our valley at the confluence of the Baker and Ñadis rivers, you can engage in activities such as:
    • Hiking or Horseback riding tour to “El Saltón” and Nacional Monument “Corte San Carlos“
    • Trekking Sendero Caracol ( 2:45hrs) and trekking to mountain range Cordón Los Ñadis (1660m)
    • We organize visits to Fundo “El Diablo” (half day)
    • On rainy and cold days, you can relax in the dry sauna
    • We also recommend a day trip by car to Caleta Tortel (93 Km one-way)

I can actually imagine quite well taking in digital nomads at the Refugio for longer periods during the off-season (May to October) in exchange for house-sitting and maintenance work, or even for payment. Having your own internet access (e.g., Starlink antenna, etc.) is a prerequisite! Perhaps someone might be interested in challenging themselves against the solitude and silence of the Patagonian winter? Details would need to be discussed—hopefully during a personal meeting.

To access my property, you need to cross the suspension-bridge over the Ñadis River. The maximum weight limit is 7 tons, and it can be quite narrow for very wide motorhomes

    Can possibly accept pets

Yes and no, it depends on the dog and also its owner. There are already six dogs on the farm that we need for farm work, and sometimes there can be issues between the dogs. We have also had problems during the lambing season and with the native fauna, such as the huemul, the Andean deer, which can be disturbed by the dogs in their natural habitat. We would like to avoid that
