    Description

We started our project on this farm in late 2013. It was a monoculture of olive tree, that we found in verry bad shape. We've been since making great effort to make this evolving towards greater diversity and sustainability and we need help for that. Here in Tunisia, permaculture is at the verry begining and few people understand our way of working.
We need to implement our site so that people realise the positiveness of such practices in all aspects.
Since then, the project has evolved towards an educational center where we provide trainings around permaculture and ecoconstruction.

So when coming to our place, expect to participate in regular agricultural tasks like weeding, sowing, harvesting, soil decompaction, irrigation... and other types of work like ecoconstruction, lanscaping... You will also help on housing and meal cooking .
Having people around is not just more hands to do the job, it is also big positive energy that brings motivation and antouthiasm, which is crucial when you are your own boss! And we are very eager to confort people in their research of practical knowledge and experiment. Please read carefully the sections below. Now that we have some experience in hosting, we realised that what we can offer don't fit to everyone .We want hosting to be mostly positive for you and for us.

We live in a small rural town in the middle of Tunisia, in semi arid climate, which is verry challenging. A non touristic area which deserve to be knowned by nature's lovers. Tunisia is a small country which has much to be enjoyed in every part: from roman archeologic ruins, to sea bathing, hot springs, oasis, desert trips, authentic medinas...

Be very welcome, we are waiting for you :)

** We are also looking for longer stay workawayers, for those who'd like to walk in our shoes for a while**

*** We are looking for extra help in November and through winter as it is tree planting season and we want to plant hundreds! ***

**** If you do come over, please help us spread the word and showcase the amazing moments you had with us by sharing with us your photos !

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Our familly is multicultural, french and tunisian. We share our experience of building a new life here in Tunisia. You can learn hands on experience in ecoconstruction and farming. You will also learn a different time, here we can hardly work with a clock, we just do what needs or can be done, it's a day to day type of living. If you travel around in Tunisia you'll experience the kindness and hospitality of Tunisian People.

Volunteers can offer a service not mentioned regarding to their skills they would like to share. We like people committed and self reliable wich does not exclude relationship and teamwork. Be aware that people with a great sense of adaptation fit best to what we offer. Seeing the half full glass instead of the half empty is essential to have a good time with us. Familly life and farming life imply flexibility. Remember, you come to help, so try to make things easy for us, hosting is not as easy as it seems. Keep bad remarks for yourself, it's not that we don't want to improve but we already do the best we can. Remember that you may come during your holidays but we are working!

    Accommodation

We provide an independant house for helpers, a familly house, nearby where we live. It is fully equiped, with a kitchen, fridge, hot shower, no heat or air conditioning yet. Bedrooms for one person or couple and bedroom to share. If you can, best to bring your blanket and sheets. Helpers are responsible for the housekeeping of that house during their stay. You can also camp on the farm if you like it wild or if you come with an equiped vehicule.
We provide lunches only. We now ask volunteers to catter for their other meals, meaning buying and cooking. When available, voluteers can get farm products and wild plants.
We might share evening meals as well from time to time, depending on the mood, it's just that we need resting time and family time. The meals we provide are based on our way of eating, in qualities and quantities. We do not adapt to too specific from our habits. If what we cook don't suit you, you can cook!
