We are opening the doors of our home hostel to travelers who help us with cleaning, maintenance and reception. We want our hostel to be a place where people can feel good and connect with the people, so we do our best to create a fluid environment with a clean and relaxed environment.
25 hours a week are carried out, distributed over 5 or days a week.

La Pedrera is a small town located on top of a beautiful cliff and just between two beautiful beaches perfect for surfing and all kinds of beach activities.
We want to generate ideas with reusable materials and create ecological solutions.
We also aspire to have a sector for organic gardens.
We believe in working with mindfulness, focusing on work, being present and working with love and care.
Estamos abriendo las puertas de nuestro hostel hogar a viajeros que nos ayuden con la limpieza, mantenimiento y recepción. Deseamos que nuestro albergue sea un lugar donde las personas puedan sentirse bien y conectarse con el pueblo, por lo que hacemos todo lo posible para crear un ambiente fluido, limpio y relajado.
Se realizan 25 horas semanales, distribuidas en 5 o dias a la semana.
La Pedrera es un pequeño pueblo ubicado en la cima de un hermoso acantilado y justo entre dos hermosas playas perfectas para el surf y todo tipo de actividades en la playa.
Estamos con ganas de generar ideas con materiales re utilizables y crear soluciones ecológicas.
También aspiramos a tener un sector destinado a huerta orgánica.
Creemos en trabajar con atención plena, enfocándonos en el trabajo, estando presentes y trabajando con amor y cuidado.

The artists-volunteers will benefit creatively by experiencing the astonishing beauty of this town and its coast-line. La Pedrera and its community are by the edge of the sea, surranded by two gigant beaches, and a huge open sky. Moreover, this place has lots of natural resources and materials to create art from such as wood, clay, sand, stones, and more importantly, recycle materials to explore biorenewal art.

Los artistas-voluntarios se beneficiarán creativamente al experimentar la asombrosa belleza de esta ciudad y su costa. La Pedrera y su comunidad están a la orilla del mar, rodeadas de dos playas gigantes y un enorme cielo abierto. Además, este lugar tiene muchos recursos naturales y materiales para crear arte de madera, arcilla, arena, piedras y, lo que es más importante, reciclar materiales para explorar el arte de la renovación biológica.

Firstly and more important is cleaning! The place is big and we want it to be shining. Other tasks would include making beds, taking care of the recycling, gardening, patio, dealing with guests and some general maintenance (building things or repairs). Moreover, art projects, painting, drawing, making signs, etc...
There is some flexibility depending on the volunteers experience and abilities.

En primer lugar y lo más importante es la limpieza! El lugar es bastante grande y queremos que brille. Otras tareas incluyen hacer camas, reciclaje, jardinería, el trato con los huéspedes y el mantenimiento general (construcción o reparación). Además, proyectos de arte, pintura, dibujo, fabricación de carteles, etc ...
Hay cierta flexibilidad dependiendo de la experiencia y habilidades de los voluntarios.

The volunteers will have their own room with bunk beds. We provide with clean bed sheets, covers, blankets, and towels.

We are in the center of La Pedrera, located in mainstreet and only one block away from the ocean reef. We count with lot of space in our Hostel for all kind of activities such as art-workshops or music concerts.
The hostel is connected to a network of other Hostels and houses that are seeking for a more ecological and self sustainable way of living, once the volunteer gets involved with the project there is also the possibility of knowing these other places here in Uruguay.

Estamos en el centro de La Pedrera, ubicado en la calle principal, a solo una cuadra del arrecife del océano. Contamos con mucho espacio en nuestro albergue para todo tipo de actividades como talleres de arte o conciertos de música.
El albergue está conectado a una red de otros albergues y casas que buscan una forma de vida más ecológica y autosostenible. Una vez que el voluntario se involucra en el proyecto, también existe la posibilidad de conocer estos otros lugares aquí en Uruguay.

I had a really good time at La Pedrera, met very nice people and had great parties but I must say that I'm a bit disappointed regarding the "volunteering" conditions and welcoming we get from the owners of the hostel. Future volunteers, you need to know that cultural exchange, food and days off are not part of the deal.
