    Description

    Hi everybody
    We are a couple (60 and 70) with 2 dogs living in the french Jura, more exactly close to the wineyards. We fell in love with this hilly region and we bought an old house 8 years ago. We renovated a big part of it and opened a guesthouse which is open from April to October. We prepare breakfast for our international guests and also some dinners. We have a huge park and an organic vegetable garden .
    Our two Basenjis, aged 8 and 11, love their two daily walks in the surrounding countryside.
    This is a very green region, with both large fields and beautiful forests. Our little village is accessible by train or bus, so we don't feel isolated, but connected to larger towns like Lons le Saunier, Arbois or even Besançon. Many young people are settling here, thanks in particular to the elementary school. We are surrounded by talented winegrowers, who are embellishing our landscape. There are also plenty of cows here, all busy producing the milk that makes up our region's star cheese, Comté.

    We come into contact with guests from a wide variety of backgrounds, with foreigners accounting for 50% of our clientele. In addition to French, we speak English and German with our guests.
    As in any tourist region, major events take place in summer, with markets, concerts, festivals and art exhibitions in emblematic locations, notably in one of France's most beautiful villages: Château-Chalon.

    Our guest house activity is fully covered by us + people we employ (and pay) for the cleaning.
    With workaway, we are searching for a person to take care about the tasks linked with our house, totally independent from our activity,

    * Garden help, e.g. mowing the lawn
    * Open and clean the swimming pool and surrounding area (terrace)
    * Help in the vegetable garden with transplanting, harvesting and maintenance
    * Pick fruit in season (cherries, raspberries, plums, etc.)
    * Help with jam-making
    * The list is not exhaustive and can be adapted to suit individual needs and affinities.

    What else ...

    In your free time, you can go hiking (GR59 hiking trail), and the towns around Poligny offer restaurants and bars. There are also UNESCO sites to visit (Salins Les Bains), and the lake region is also popular for a summer splash.
    We provide a bicycle (and a car under certain conditions).
    The houses are entirely non-smoking. Visits from outsiders are forbidden. Respect for neighbors, especially respect for working hours and quiet after 10 pm.
