Description
We’re a Southern African couple with a sweet and curious 4-year-old daughter, living in Cabrils — a peaceful village just outside Barcelona, nestled between the mountains and the sea. Our home has a beautiful view and is just a 10-minute cycle from one of Spain’s best beaches. There's also a nature reserve just a 10-minute walk away, great for hiking and exploring.
We both work full-time and love spending our free time outdoors, having barbeques in the Spanish sun, and enjoying slow, relaxed days at home as a family. Cabrils is perfect if you’re looking for nature and tranquility — and if you’re in the mood for a bit more action, you’re only 45 mins away from the buzz of Barcelona by public transport.
We're primarily looking for someone to help looking after our kid, and help around the house (cook, clean, DIY projects!).
We also speak multiple languages at home — mainly English, German, and a fair bit of Spanish — so if you'd like to practice any of these, we'd be happy to help!Types of help and learning opportunities

Cabrils is a peaceful Catalan village with a strong local identity, where you can experience everyday life in a multicultural community. You’ll hear Catalan spoken everywhere, alongside Spanish, giving you the chance to pick up both languages in an authentic setting. At home, we speak English, German, and Spanish, so there's plenty of opportunity to practice or improve any of those.
You're also just a short ride away from Barcelona — one of Europe’s most vibrant, multicultural cities. It’s full of history, art, food, and people from all over the world. Whether you're into language exchange, cultural exploration, or just enjoying life by the Mediterranean, there’s a lot to soak up here.Au Pair Help

Help
We’re mainly looking for help with childcare — someone warm, reliable, and good with young kids to spend time with our daughter while we’re working. This would include playing, reading, creative activities, and just keeping her company in a fun, safe, and kind way.
Experience with children is a big plus, and bonus points if you enjoy getting involved in family life.Languages

You’ll have your own private bedroom with a comfortable double bed and a private bathroom — perfect for relaxing and having your own space. The room is in our family home, which is located in a quiet residential area of Cabrils with beautiful views of both the sea and the mountains.
We’re just a 10-minute bike ride from the Mediterranean coast, a 10-minute walk from a nature reserve full of hiking trails, and about 15 minutes on foot from the village center, where you’ll find shops, cafes, and local life. Barcelona is just under an hour away by public transport — close enough for city adventures, but far enough to enjoy peace and quiet at home.
We usually cook simple, healthy meals at home — lots of Mediterranean-style dishes, barbeques, and family-friendly food. We're not vegan/vegetarian, but we are happy to adapt and live a more healthy/sustainable lifestyle. You’ll be welcome to join us for meals, and we’d love to share food and conversation when our schedules line up.
When we’re busy or working different hours, we’re happy to provide ingredients so you can cook for yourself. The kitchen is fully equipped, and we’re flexible depending on your preferences (vegetarian/vegan/etc.). If you enjoy cooking, we’d also love to try something from your country!A little more information

We have reliable high-speed Wi-Fi and a quiet environment, so it’s a good setup for remote work. We're pretty flexible — we just ask for clear communication so we can find a rhythm that works for everyone.
Can possibly accept pets
We don’t have pets ourselves, but we’re open to well-behaved animals, as long as they get along well in a family setting. Just let us know what kind of pet you have, and we can chat about it!
