    Description

    Hi

☆☆☆ We host people for one or two weeks only. ☆☆☆

☆☆☆ We are hoping our profile will appeal to people taking some time away from their jobs/working life to come and work alonside us and enjoy being in the countryside. The work we do involves alot of manual labour, if you have a back problem/condition, this work will not suit you. ☆☆☆

We are located close the scenic Nire Valley, West Waterford. We own a cottage and small holding on an acre of land in the middle of the family farm.

We are looking for individuals to help work alongside us, people that have reasonable English, who are easy going, friendly, relaxed that will fit in to our little family.

We are Mary, Eddy, & Pip and Daisy.

Pip is a Yorkshire Terrier Cross, Daisy is a Jack Russell. Both are a very important part of our family. Pip and Daisy live in our family home so you need to like dogs.

We have six outdoor cats, Marley, Blackie, Cathy, Izzy & Nelly and Kitty, we have free range chickens, geese and we also keep Bee's.

We keep bee's very near our house, if you are allergic to bee's then we are not the host for you.

If you have allergies to any of the animals on our property, please do not apply.

If you like to cook, we would welcome anything you would like to contribute to the family. We keep the pantry well stocked.

We cannot host people who have a diet that is Vegan, Gluten Free or diets with allergies where alternative food needs to be bought. This is due to the current costs involved in purchasing the products. We simply cannot afford them.

A bit about me, Mary. I am an animal lover who loves long walks, you are welcome to join me. I love pottering around with different jobs on our property. I really enjoy tending to our vegetables and flowers that we grow. I love baking bread, cakes, scones and savoury dishes. If you would like to try some traditional Irish food I'm very happy to bake and cook those meals for you to try. I love to camp in the summer in the mountains and by the sea, you are welcome to join me.

A bit about Eddy. Eddy loves rugby & football. He will turn his hand to anything. Eddy always has some project or two on the go. Eddy is fantastic at DIY, building & upcycling. He is great at teaching people who wish to learn these kind of skills. Eddy makes his own homebrew ALES which we to consume here at home. Every summer Eddy likes to go sea fishing from local Piers, we have spare rods for anyone wishing to join us.

Pip and Daisy are very energetic and enjoy long walks every day. They will demand tickles and belly rubs on a daily basis. You will never be asked to walk the dogs but you are always welcome to join our walks.

We love meeting people from other countries and cultures. We love sharing our culture with people and learning new things from our Workawayers about their countries, traditions and lives.

If you do smoke, we would ask that you smoke outside.

If you love animals and want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, then why not come and stay with us for a while.

People will help approx 4 to 5 hours a day. We do things in a relaxed chilled out pace with plenty of tea breaks.

If the weather is very hot we work early morning and then we work late in the afternoon avoiding the heat of the midday sun between 11am & 3-4pm.

We need help with alot of weeding, mowing, strimming, building jobs. We will need help with planting vegetables, looking after them as they grow, harvesting, blanching and pickling vegetables ready to store at home for our consumption throughout the year. We also need help with fencing, diy projects, gardening, composting, painting outside on dry days & inside the house on wet days and looking after our animals. Alot of the work does involve manual labour, if you have a back problem/condition, much of this work will not suit you.

A few times a year we need help harvesting and processing honey from the bee's, making homemade ale from natural grain, making chutney and Jam from our fruit trees and raspberry bushes. All the homemade ale, honey, jams and chutneys we make here is for consumption here at home only.

You would have your own double room in our home, meals and access to WIFI in exchange for your help.

You do not need to have experience or certain skills, just enthusiasm and a willingness to turn your hand to anything.
