First things first! PREVIOUS WORKAWAY EXPERIENCE WITH FEEDBACK IS ESSENTIAL.

There are just the 2 of us here, myself and Kieran plus our cats and dogs, and we are always looking for people to help us around the house.. we run a busy bar here, so we are inviting you to please come and stay with us and at the same time, discover beautiful Kinnitty and experience some authentic Irish culture. Please be aware that unpaid volunteers will NOT be asked to help with preparing or serving of food or drinks to paying guests or customers.

A bit about life at the Slieve Bloom:
I, Lorraine, work during the day and come home in the evening time. At that stage, all I want to do is chill out and curl up with a cup of tea and Netflix! Kieran works nights in the bar...so it's not a traditional set-up here where we all sit down for dinner at a specific time.

Normally, we ask that you carry out your daily chores (approx up to 3 hours of housework and cleaning per day) during the early morning and afternoon, taking a break to check out the area on foot or bike.
We would love if u would bring our cocker spaniel for a walk daily, he is quite 'hyper' if he doesn't get out! If you could help me out with painting and decorating the house, I would be most grateful. It's an old building and I love when ideas are suggested to me to help make the house as beautiful as possible!

With regards to the bar, we only open in the evenings from 6pm during the week, and then from 12.30pm on Saturday and Sunday. You are free to hang out in the bar (please note that drinks are NOT COMPLIMENTARY), the locals are really friendly and there is a great mix of old and young who call in. We have live music every Saturday night and a traditional Irish music night once every four weeks. If u play an instrument, bring it with you...as this is a night not to be missed.

With regards to food, we have an open kitchen here. We would require anyone who volunteers here to be able to make their own dinner and do their own laundry (we have a washing machine that can be used in the evenings, with detergent supplied).

What we suggest is that on your days off (2 consecutive days every 5 days), to take a trip on the bus to Galway or Dublin, both less than 2 hours away. Choose to stay over, or choose to take the last bus home..I'm happy to put you on the bus and collect you!

We are looking for someone who has no problem cleaning, using their own initiative around the house and kitchen. We need someone who is not afraid to get their hands dirty, and who doesn't mind the noise from the bar, someone who likes to paint and doesn't mind having to clean muddy paws off the furniture daily! A person who is confident and most importantly, someone who is happy in their own company during the day. This small village is quiet and quaint, coming to life at nighttime and at the weekends ...but there is loads to discover during the day if you are into nature and an ideal spot if u want a break from the hustle and bustle of city life!

The reviews and feedback we have received are honest and genuine, so if you think you will like it here and enjoy the work, get in contact! Previous workawayer recommendations are essential.

Please be aware that unpaid volunteers will NOT be asked to help with preparing or serving of food or drinks to paying guests or customers.

Looking forward to meeting you, Lorraine & Kieran

We are looking for someone who doesn't mind keeping the house clean and tidy (hoovering, mopping, polishing, ironing, window cleaning etc)..

Being able to cook your own dinner and lunch is essential..we have a kitchen and fridge full of food, so we want you to help yourself when it comes to feeding yourself! Obviously when we cook dinner, we will include you in the pot!

We hope u like animals, we have many cats and 2 dogs! So naturally, you have to be an animal lover!! Our cocker spaniel, Seanie, needs to be walked everyday so this is a requirement of the volunteer too.

But most importantly, we want you to enjoy your stay with us. As you are on your own during the day, it's important that you don't mind the solitude. Our volunteers usually go out and discover the neighbourhood, read books, bake or bring the dog for walks...or head off with Kieran if he is going to the city.

Please be aware that unpaid volunteers will NOT be asked to help with preparing or serving of food or drinks to paying guests or customers.

What we offer: a room with TV and WiFi. We love to cook and we always have plenty of food in the house and fridge. Having travelled ourselves, we love to discover and taste new dishes and learn about the various cultures from around the world..

We are a young and friendly couple who run a busy bar located in the foothills of the Slieve Bloom mountains. We love animals and have some cats and dogs..we have bikes on the premises too so it's easy to discover these mountains and the beautiful countryside either by foot or by bicycle. There are designated cycling routes and walking loops and you won't find a nicer spot to do some exploring than in Kinnitty, Co. Offaly. There are plenty of places to cycle to from Kinnitty...Birr Castle (12km) and Lough Boora (12km)....both beautiful places and not too far to cycle to on your day off..

    What else ...

Kinnitty is a small village just dying to be explored and discovered by you! For example, we have a pyramid behind our building (the only one in Ireland), Kinnitty Castle just up the road and we are nestled in the foothills of the Slieve Bloom Mountains. We have bicycles here that you can use to discover the area, and there is an equestrian centre nearby.

The village is always thronged with visitors from home and abroad and it's a great way to meet new people and discover our Irish culture. We also are just down the road from the GAA field where the Kinnitty hurling, camoige and football teams train and play matches...a lovely way to see our traditional sport being played.

There are plenty of places to cycle to from Kinnitty...Birr Castle (12km) and Lough Boora (12km)....both beautiful places and not too far to cycle to on your day off. We can also drop you to Birr or Tullamore on your day off and from there, you can take a bus or train to Galway or Dublin for the day.

Every fourth Wednesday of the month, we host a traditional Irish music night in the bar. It's an excellent night, with sometimes 30 musicians coming together for a session...you won't get as close to an authentic Irish cultural experience as this anywhere else in Ireland! A great night in...music, drink, food and fun!

Please be aware that unpaid volunteers will NOT be asked to help with preparing or serving of food or drinks to paying guests or customers.
