    Susa-dei! (Hello in Khmer)

Thank you for visiting our profile!

Are you interested in combining your travel plans to Cambodia and Angkor Wat with supporting a local school through your English skills and experiencing the culture? This is your chance to join a meaningful project and help children learn English, art, and sports.

Together, we can make a positive impact on the daily lives of these children. Join us in creating a lasting difference!

    Who are we?

Founded in 2016, our school is a public primary school located in Siem Reap. Additionally, we support a village schools in the countryside. We are dedicated to providing English education programs for motivated local children aged 4-18, as well as teaching gardening and farming at the village schools. With the support of our sponsors and volunteers, we are paving the way to a brighter future for our children. Our team includes the founder, Sa, along with two kids, and a young and enthusiastic group of local teachers.

    Mission?

Our mission is to ensure that every Cambodian child has access to education and the opportunity to enhance their English speaking abilities.

We are committed to provide values such as quality education, English proficiency, discipline, and social skills in our students. Our goal is to empower them to improve their lives and build a brighter future.

    Why?

Cambodia relies heavily on tourism as its primary source of income. Consequently, the inability to speak English can significantly impact a family, potentially leading to severe poverty.

Our organization collaborates with various NGOs on programs focused on education, healthcare, community development, and food security. Your involvement with us would primarily contribute to the education sector, where we aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Cambodian children.

    Why should you join us?

It's a perfect opportunity for you if you're planning to travel to Siem Reap to visit the renowned Angkor Wat and also wish to support a local school in their mission while engaging in a cultural exchange.

During your stay, you will immerse yourself in the local culture, learn Khmer, savor local cuisine, explore vibrant markets, sample exotic fruits, and enjoy a rich experience of cultural and language exchange. It's a chance to make your journey more meaningful and memorable.

    What can you expect?

Stay at our school, located 10 minutes away from Siem Reap city center and 10 minutes away from the famous Angkor Wat. Here, you will have the opportunity to stay close to the city center. We provide free accommodation in the school facilities. Additionally, we offer one meal a day (lunch). Near the school, you will find many options for local restaurants and cafes where you can easily find an abundant variety of choices for your breakfast and dinner.

What can you do here in your free time?

During your free time here, you can discover the awe-inspiring Angkor Wat, explore Pub Street's lively nightlife with its array of restaurants and bars. Wander through local markets, shop for souvenirs and handicrafts, or relax in the botanical gardens amidst local flora. Immerse yourself in Khmer culture by visiting art galleries showcasing local artwork and museums highlighting Cambodia's rich history. Interact with friendly locals to learn about their traditions, and don't miss sampling Khmer street food at small eateries offering dishes such as Lok Lak.

    Additional information:

In Cambodia, particularly at our school, it's important, especially for girls, not to wear short-sleeved shirts or shorts while teaching. Please come prepared with t-shirts, pants, or skirts. We appreciate your understanding!

Before Covid-19, we were fortunate to receive support from volunteers around the world. However, due to the ongoing impact on Cambodia's tourism sector, we haven't been able to host as many volunteers recently. This is why we seek your help :). We eagerly anticipate hosting you and will do our utmost to ensure you feel welcome while experiencing our culture firsthand.

The afternoon session runs from 2:00 to 4:30 pm with a 25-minute break. Students aged 4 to 14 also attend.

There is an evening session from 5:00 to 6:00 pm without a break, for students aged 9 to 17.

We ask volunteers to choose a session of these three sessions to participate in. During each session, volunteers work alongside local teachers who provide support. Our classes follow a structured learning program with workbooks, but this does not mean there is no time for play and enjoyable activities. On the contrary, volunteers, with support from local teachers, are encouraged to incorporate games and creative activities to enhance the learning experience for the students.
