Description
Dear workawayers,
We are (Rose, Janik and our son Noah) a friendly Swiss family living in a cozy home with a big garden, two cats, and a dog. With our older son now moved out and our younger one still at home, we find ourselves needing some extra help in and around the house—and we’d love to welcome new people and have cultural exchange along the way!
We appreciate independent and responsible helpers who enjoy tasks like gardening, pet care, and light household work. Couples are especially welcome, as we have a double room available.
What we need help with:
Garden & outdoor care (weeding, trimming bushes, mowing, maintaining paths)
Pet care (feeding cats, walking our friendly dog if you'd like)
Some household tasks (simple meals, light cleaning, organizing)
Small DIY projects (only if you're comfortable—like insulating a window or garden shed repairs)
What we offer:
A comfortable private room (perfect for couples!)
Shared meals and cultural exchange (I speak Swiss German, Italian, French, English & Spanish)
A peaceful place to relax, plus a garden pizza oven for fun evenings
A chance to experience Swiss life while helping a family in need of support
We see Workaway as a fair exchange—a little help in return for a welcoming home and new experiences. If this sounds like a good fit, we’d be happy to host you!

Since Janik and I speak 5 languages, you will be able to practice one of the 5 languages listed above. Janik is a Chef, so you could learn a lot about cuisine in general, and we would love to exchange and learn about your food-culture. We love to cook together and have deep conversations during. Cooking and eating together is a very important part of our lives. Janik is also very handy, so you will be able to learn a lot of new skills in and around the house and learn what it means to own a house of 1923. We are also very interested in sharing and exchanging knowledge, and perhaps we can learn something new from you?
Help
Our place is a "work in progress" there is always something to do inside or outside the house.
We live here with my younger son Noah, our dog Lili and our two cats Bagheera and Mowgli.
We are looking for pet-loving, enthusiastic person (or a couple) who loves physical work and working with their hands to help us in and around our home in beautiful Biel, hometown of ROLEX and OMEGA.
We value people who can help independently, bring their own initiative and ideas and perhaps already have workaway-experience.
If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
We can welcome a single person as well as couples.Languages spoken

Double room, with view of the Alps. Shared Bathroom. We have a Pizza-Oven in the garden, many instruments in the house (piano, guitar, hand-pan). Plenty of room in the house.
What else ...
Our house is near (3 min. distance) bus station and 15 min train station.
Biel is more or less in the "middle" of Switzerland, you get to all the places of interest in about 2h by train, Swiss Alps, Lucerne, Zürich, Geneva. Or you can hike or bike here directly behind the house - we are very close to the forest and the Jura Mountains. There is a lot to explore in Biel also, we have a lake "Bielersee" and as already told Biel is the birth town of Rolex and Omega, there is a big Museum about the Watch-History. You can also find a Chocolate-Museum nearby. You will also be able to practice German or French, since Biel is a Bilingual town. And you will be able to exchange with my son Noah of 22.A little more information
