    Description

    Hey there!

I love sharing my country with the people who stay with me, offering all sorts of adventures—trekking, climbing, long walks, biking, and road trips! During the day, I juggle remote work (which is flexible), but there’s still plenty of time to explore and have fun together.

I also take care of my family’s houses. One of the houses is in the stunning Stockholm archipelago near Vaxholm, and another is in the breathtaking High Coast, about five hours north of Stockholm by car or train. If you’re lucky and visit between October and April, you might even catch the northern lights dancing across the sky!

Now, let’s talk about what’s in it for you! Of course, I provide three delicious meals a day, and the workload is very reasonable—max 25 hours per week (usually even less).

Im a handy person myself and I like too teach people what I know about things and I am also happy to learn from you!
    Its all about learning.

So, what kind of help do I need and what will you learn? Ideally, you have some skills (or enthusiasm!) in any of the following:

Help with gardening and landscaping (knowing a thing or two about plants is a plus!)

Cleaning with attention to detail (quality over speed!)

    Organizing things.

Cooking—everyone helps, but if you put extra love into food, that’s always appreciated.

Interior design ideas (I’m always up for a fresh perspective!)

General maintenance help and small building projects, I’ve got top-notch tools, so even pros will be happy.

    Mechanical skills

Ideally, you’re 24 or older with some home maintenance experience, but if you’re younger, tell me what you’ve got!

During summer, I usually host multiple volunteers at the same time, so expect a fun, social vibe. You'll have your own private room in the city apartment, plus plenty of time to enjoy activities like swimming, canoeing, sauna sessions, biking, and local sightseeing. The archipelago house has a private waterfront (hello, morning swims!), and the northern house near Härnösand boasts an amazing sandy beach.

Vaxholm is a fantastic launchpad for exploring the Stockholm archipelago, and you can still pop into the city on your days off. I also occasionally throw traditional Swedish evenings with classic food (think seafood feasts!)—and if you're unlucky, I might even sing. 😉

Oh, and don't worry—fast, unlimited WiFi is a must, and I’ve got you covered. Accommodation is cozy, private, and comfortable. Normally, I host 2-4 volunteers at a time, with friends occasionally stopping by as well.

I’ve traveled to 123 countries and love swapping travel stories over a good meal or by the fire. I enjoy creating a warm, travel-friendly environment—exactly the kind of place I’d love to stay in myself when I’m on the road.

Excited to meet you and share some adventures!

    Cheers,
    Martin

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

You'll have the opportunity to sample traditional cuisine and customs (and perhaps some less conventional experiences like wine tastings). I'll share insights into our traditions and offer lessons on maritime life and construction. With my extensive knowledge of Stockholm, I can guide you on what to explore in the city. I enjoy conducting boat or car tours, providing insights into our culture and history. Additionally, I'm fond of outdoor activities such as short hikes or skiing during the winter months.

    What else ...

There's an abundance of activities to enjoy in Stockholm, and Vaxholm serves as an ideal hub for exploring the Stockholm archipelago. From swimming and hiking to jogging through forests, biking, enjoying drinks at local establishments, or even trying your hand at fishing—there's something for everyone. Plus, frequent public transport options by boat or bus make it convenient to journey to and from the city center of Stockholm in a single day.

In the northern region, you'll find breathtaking hiking trails, picturesque mountains, opportunities for climbing, and a high likelihood of witnessing the captivating Aurora Borealis. If you're interested, I'd be happy to guide you through these experiences.
