Description
We live in the middle of a beautiful mountainside in a remote rural location in the South of Spain. The mountain tops are full of snow in winter and gorgeous sun in summer. But all year round we have blue skies. Just 1km from us is the nearest village, Los Cerricos, where there is a Church and 2 bars. The next nearest small town is 10 km away, (Chirivel) with banks, supermarkets, restauarants, shops etc, further afield are many pretty towns and local attractions. Where we are, it's just the noise of goat bells and the occasional tractor! Fantastic if you love nature, peace and quiet. An individual or a couple would be a great help to the family (There are always projects on the go and help needed inside and outside the house, depending on where your expertise lies!) Workawayers in the past have helped us with our grape vines, create a communal space for friends (and future workawayers)!
It is a huge bonus if you have a car, due to the remoteness of the location. We do go out,and we would love to share family outings with you to show you around the local area....but without a vehicle, you must be happy to go for walks in your free time. There is no public transport around here, so a driving licence would also be useful!
About me: I was going to teach in Bangkok after living in the UAE for 7 years, but I split with my husband in Aug 2019 and ended up on the beautiful mountainside with 2 toddlers, (Albie, is now 11 and Teddy, 9) an autistic 234year old, Tom, who has recently relocated to the UK, a farm house, a beautiful, soft dog, Sophie, 2 cats, and 10 acres of land......(I am a Spanish, French, German and English teacher, originally from the UK)
In return for helping in or around the house, you will be rewarded with a wonderful experience, a chance to learn new skills, such as basic cooking, improve your English or Spanish and gain great references. An opportunity to live in a wonderful area to explore Almeria, Andalucia and Murcia, as well as happy memories from a loving, crazy, family environment, lots of nature, lots of beautiful views, local bars and lots of family fun.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
English, Spanish, possibly farming skills, depending on the time of year. They will have the opportunity to learn about the culture and explore southern Spain. I will also write excellent references for good workawayers.
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
We have various projects going on inside and outside the house: For example, we have created a fire-pit / bbq area for family and friends (as well as future workawayers) we have almond trees, if you know anything about pruning! We would love your input, especially if you are a creative person. Equally, we have land and outside space if you enjoy helping outdoors. My 2 children are 9 and 11, so if your skills lie more in the domestic side of things, you can help prepare family meals and light household chores, so that I can get on with other projects (when I´m not teaching.)

All meals and drinks provided free of charge. You can either cook and eat privately, should you prefer, or join in with the family mealtimes. (We hope you would like to do the latter!)What else ...
During your time off, it is a wonderful place for outdoor pursuits such as walking, running, yoga, cycling etc. In walking distance, you can walk to the local village (1km away) where there are 2 bars that also serve excellent food at very reasonable prices. I can assist with transport to nearby towns and cities but there is no public transport available in the immediate vicinity. I can offer bicycles or can help with transport to places where you can catch a bus or train - 25 mins car journey away. 1.5 hours by car is the wonderful city of Granada and its ski resorts. It is 1.5 hours to the beach, 2 hours to the city of Almeria or 1.5 hours to Murcia. We live in a very friendly community of Spanish, English and other nationalities.
