    Description

Raglan is famous for its black sand beach and amazing surfing .

We are Jill and Paul (in our 60’s): we have recently built our dream home on the edge of the estuary at Rangatahi Peninsula, Raglan. We have worked and lived in Auckland for 36 years and hosted many students in our home over the years. We are now on a new adventure and would love some workaways to stay in our new home and help us with gardening, painting, and cleaning - inevitable jobs required in a new build. Our home is warm, sunny and comfortable and has amazing water views and is surrounded by lots of bush walks. Raglan is a very popular destination for young people from all over the world. It is renowned for its sustainability and many enterprising small businesses e.g. Raglan coconut yoghurt, Dreamview Dairy, The Workshop Brewing Company, Tony Sly Potteries, Soul shoes and bags.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We have hosted foreign language students who come to learn English so are very used to having people of different cultures and languages in our home and helping them feel welcome. We live in a lovely coastal town called Raglan, two hours drive from Auckland. There are buses from Auckland to Hamilton and a regular bus service from Hamilton to Raglan. The centre of town is a 20 minute walk from where we live.

We have recently moved into our new house and now we have lots of finishing to do like cleaning windows and the house exterior; painting doors and skirting boards and planting a garden. We are currently looking for someone with building skills that can help us build a fence.
