I am Hashim Mutanje, a young Ugandan social entrepreneur. I am currently running my own businesses in the sector of renewable energy and tourism. Besides that I always tend to be engaged in the support of a number of other projects including this local NGO, TOCI where I volunteer regularly. I like to do sports and play Ultimate Frisbee 3 times a week with a mixed group of local and international friends in Boma, Fort Portal. I enjoy discovering new places and making hikes in nature, as well as having a good talk or a board game.
I have been volunteering with TOCI Uganda over the last 4 years whenever they need help. TOCI is an organization that works with orphans and other vulnerable children providing them with education, health care and economic empowerment to their families. My friend Micheal Amanyire, who founded this organization and who I have been helping run the organization passed on in June 2016 together with his 4 year old son and a Korean volunteer in a tragic accident. So, I'm currently in charge of ensuring continuity of this great organization that has helped many people in communities in Fort Portal, Uganda. TOCI’s work has been recognized and over the last 4 years awarded grants from the US Government's PEPFAR program, International Labor Organization, Water Charity, Peace Corps, and a host of individual friends and supporters from across the world from US, UK, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, Canada and many other countries. (Please feel free to ask for more information or ask for our website, visit our Facebook Page to learn more about TOCI).
We are happy to host you at Twerwaneho Orphans Community Initiative (TOCI) in the most beautiful area of Uganda, Fort Portal. I'm also happy to talk to you about other projects that we are partners or just help you have a great fulfilling visit to Uganda.

Shared accommodation at the project housing which are 2 attached non self-contained rooms. Usually volunteers are served three meals a day. Meals include rice, eggs, bread, bananas, Irish potatoes, sweet potatoes and other local foods and fruits. So if the volunteer is uncomfortable with Ugandan meals they can arrange their own food, or if the volunteer wants to stay in town I can arrange for them affordable paid housing. Personally, I also run an affordable Airbnb listing at my home which a volunteer could opt for in case they don't like to stay in the village and want something in town in a developed residential area with recreational facilities close by.
Fort Portal is a tourism hub of Uganda and the most beautiful place you will see so with your time off, you can visit the many tourist attractions in the area ranging from crater lakes, rift valley, Rwenzori Mountains, National parks, water falls, and much more. The organization is just 20 minutes' away from the center of Fort Portal town on a tarmac road.
