    Description

We are a fun dynamic couple living our dream with our lovely and lively two dogs within a 4 hectare farmstead on the edge of the beautiful green heart of the Gran Sasso National Park near Villa Celiera, Abruzzo, Italy with amazing 360 degree views including the magnificent Maiella mountains and with it's very own waterfall (where deer regularly come to drink).
Our priority is to clear and manage our woodland, create raised vegetable and fruit beds, build chicken coups, bee hives and a workshop. We have many outbuildings that have sadly fallen into disrepair which we are now breathing new life into and would love the help and company of like minded and creative folk perhaps with permaculture experience or interest who want to return our piece of paradise to its former glory.

We believe in having fun and eating well and showing you beautiful Abruzzo in reward for your amazing talents and work!! Sooooo if you have lots of enthusiasm and happy energy and are self motivated please come and join us this summer!

The property has its own walks, but there are also beautiful mountain walks literally a few metres from the house.
Abruzzo is a primarily rural region with the beautiful Adriatic coast and its long sandy beaches to the East and magnificent mountains to the west, with fields of olives and vineyards dominating the lower areas, and an abundance of beautiful nature in the mountains including eagles, chamois, bears and wolves.

Rome 2hrs away and Pescara 1 hr, historic Penne and Medieval Bisenti about half an hour...for all planes/trains and bus routes...really happy to collect and show you around after a cappucino e dolce in the piazza. Nearest town is 15/20 mins by car for bars/osteria/pizzeria/shops. Buildings are medieval but shopping is very modern Italian!

Initially we would love assistance from those who are fit and strong (who do not have allergies or suffer badly from hayfever) and want to help reduce our impact on our precious planet by

    • clearing scrub from the land in preparation for raised vegetable and fruit beds and new fruit and hazelnut tree orchards
    • Doing some much needed wood management, including sourcing timber from our expansive woodland for
    ◦ building the raised vegetable and fruit beds
Sourcing stone from a derelict barn to create a walled garden to house herbs flowers and fruits
    ◦ rebuilding the barn to be used as an artisan workshop
    ◦ building our own beehives
    • Installation of surface water collection tanks and redirection of surface water drainage to tanks for irrigation
    • Restoring the chicken coop and re-fencing although the chickens will be free roaming.

We are 100m from 500sq km of National Park with Marsciano Bear, Wolves, Eagles, chamois and breathtaking landscapes.

Mountains to climb and trails to follow, waterfalls to explore ..and also the Adriatic sea with ancient trabbochi and working fishing port.

The Medieval castles and towers and monasteries and architecture are also a photographers dream whilst relaxing with a Cafe and dolce in a piazza in the Italian sunshine....even in the winter!!!
