hey! my name is Jess, I'm 23 years old and from Germany. After my first longer trip in 2023, I fell in love with traveling. My first trip took me to Bali, Lombok and Thailand for three months. Now I've been traveling on and off for almost two years. I think it's the best way to get out of your own little bubble and understand the world around you. I'm a pretty social person, I always loved to be part of a community, get to know new people, sharing moments as well as learn from each other. Because everyone, every country and culture has different backgrounds, visions, ideas and stories to tell. I am a very cheerful person, I love to laugh, take life as it comes and try to make the best out of everything. I've been travelling the world solo on and off for two years now and have had to overcome many challenges on my own. I've always been a very open-minded and enthusiastic person who is always looking for experiences that challenge me or require me to leave my comfort zone. I really enjoy trying new things and am an active person. When I was traveling in New Zealand I realized how much I love hiking, in Thailand I learned how much I love Asian food and I was so excited to just go out in nature which is so different from home, and in Bali I snorkeled and realized that one day I would love to scuba dive.I was able to experience that people in Vietnam love to sing karaoke and it's part of their culture, and how much fun it actually is to sing together at the top of your lungs.

Quais são suas habilidades?

I have a degree in business psychology with a focus on clinical psychology and psychological counseling, which also included school psychology. The business part was mainly in the areas of marketing and sales psychology. I have also completed further training in copywriting and am certified in this field.

I gained a lot of experience in the service, hospitality and events sector. I've worked as a waitress and front of house staff in various restaurants and hotels, at trade fairs, concerts and sporting events as well as a kitchen assistant both at home in Germany as well as in New Zealand, so I'm fluent in english.
Furtthermore, I've worked a lot as a hostess at events in my home town, which includes greeting customers, interacting with them, helping them with questions, taking care of them, providing food and drinks and making sure everything is clean and tidy to make everyone feel comfortable, which is similar to reception duties.

All the jobs I did involved a lot of interaction with other people, and I really enjoyed the variety, the social interaction, the changing work locations and the confrontation with new tasks and situations. During my studies, I worked in various HR departments where I supported personnel processing and development, prepared and accompanied seminars, team training sessions and workshops. When I am at home during my travels, I work freelance as a guide for team building events, as a copywriter, as a promoter at various events for different brands and most recently in schools as an external psychological career counselor. As a psychological career counselor I was responsible for carrying out certain individual and group exercises with eighth grade classes together with other psychological specialists, and observing the children with regard to certain psychological dimensions in order to give them feedback on their strengths in an individual session at the end and to work out their career path together. This has enabled me to further develop my psychological skills such as targeted, differentiated, comforting and appreciative communication, guiding groups, and being able to understand situations and behaviour more quickly and respond to individual needs.

Over the summer 2024 I volunteered as a gymnastics coach and camp counselor in a summer camp in Canada for two months. I planned and lead training sessions tailored to the abilities of the group, supported children of all ages in the individual development and improvement of their gymnastics skills and was responsible to create a fun environment, a sense of achievement and giving the children a feeling of self-efficacy. Moreover, I looked after the children in my bunk in the morning and evening hours as well as at night, therefore being available 24/7 for any kind of child distress (homesickness, arguments with friends, etc.) and was responsible for a group of 12 girls aged 6 to 8 years.

I’m currently spending a month volunteering for a NGO in Vietnam supporting a project that supports local schools, orphan kids, disabled and elderly people in social community centers by running activities, playing together, teaching englisch or helping with physiotherapy.
