We spent ten days with Alexandra and Oliver and it was nothing short of wonderful! This was our first workaway so we were a little nervous, but they were so welcoming and open that we settled in straight away. Massive thanks to Oliver for sharing so much about the history of Romania and ideas for alternative living, and a huge thanks also to Alexandra who kept us incredibly well fed with the most delicious authentic Romanian food, and for all the great conversations in the evenings. We had an amazing time restoring the old roofs and learned a lot of new skills, it was also a great feeling to go and do some work for these lovely people 🙂 They took us to a lovely local festival on the first day, showcasing lots of local food and methods, and they also took us to one of the local bars for our anniversary which was lovely! We will definitely be staying in touch and look forward to visiting again in the future to work on some more projects 😁

John has been with us for two weeks and as our first Workaway experience it was great. John is extremely skilled and hard-working, happy to share his knowledge with us. He is very organised and tidy. He was respectful of our home and really appreciated the meals provided.

A truly wonderful experience! Three years ago, I stayed with Massimo and helped him in his garden, which is about a 20-minute walk uphill. This year I came again in July for about ten days, and we also worked in the garden. Every day we could choose how many hours we wanted to work, regardless of the time of day. In the apartment there were five volunteers in total, and we all got along really well. As for Massimo, he is such a wonderful person who is always willing to help. The fact that we still keep in touch regularly after three years says it all! Simply a beautiful experience. I definitely recommend him to other Workaway volunteers. :)

Dani stayed with us on the meadow for two weeks, and from the very beginning it was clear: this was going to be a great match! With his positive, open-minded personality, he quickly became a natural part of our daily life and contributed to a very pleasant and friendly atmosphere. He was reliable, responsible, and independent in every way – someone you can truly count on. Whether it was cooking, scything the meadow, or cutting and removing blackberry bushes, Dani approached every task with great care, perseverance, and a good dose of creativity. Especially in the kitchen, he surprised us with new ideas and made sure our shared meals turned into small daily highlights. We really enjoyed the time spent together – Dani is someone who thinks ahead, takes responsibility, and remains kind and respectful at all times. We can recommend him without any hesitation and truly hope he’ll visit us again someday. Thank you for everything, Dani – you’ll always be welcome here! 🌿

I spent one week with Aurélie in her marvellous place, she welcomed me very well, she is super kind with a great energy. Most things are out door for now (kitchen, shower, toilets etc.) but it is such a lovely place. Fruits from the garden trees are very tasty. We accomplished some indoors decorating walls and I managed a little something on her roof. I wish to get another opportunity to visit one day. I highly recommend!

Une superbe expérience vécue chez Aiofe et sa famille. Nous avons été merveilleusement accueilli ici. Nous avons fait du jardinage, et garder les animaux (les nourrir, les promener etc) et la maison pendant leur absence. L'échange proposé est vraiment avantageux, nous avons beaucoup apprécié le calme et la vie autour de Masterton. Il fait parti de nos workaways préféré. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir si l'occasion se présente. La maison est vraiment superbe et confortable, les animaux sont adorables et très attachants. Cette petite famille très soudée est vraiment exemplaire, nous nous sommes sentis chez nous tout de suite. Une très bonne ambiance règne ici. Merci beaucoup pour tout ce que tu as pu nous offrir, nous avons eu du mal à partir ! Prenez soin de vous 🌞

Nina is SUCH an amazing human. The experience was once in a lifetime and I could never put into words how thankful I am. Her knowledge and passion about the animals was such a priceless thing to witness. The fact that she is completely self taught- yet knows probably more than any vet knows, has built everything from scratch with her husband Mal, has made her entire land into a sanctuary where she can release the roos (which is unique to her place specifically), and has the most interesting life and fascinating stories.. she's a super hero! I have never, and probably will never meet anyone like her. Being around all of the animals all the time was so special. I grew to really understand and appreciate the possums, roos, and especially their one winged curlew named Pancake. I miss her so much! So much character, the funniest bird I've ever seen! I can't say good enough things about Nina, and her place. I am so lucky to have been able to spend time there. The land and what they have created really is something magical. <3

Our experience with Simon and Rosemary was delightful! We stay for a month with them and they where amazing host and help us with everything we needed. During our stay, Simon and Rosemary were very kind and respectful with us, they invite us to dinner and give us they car when we need to go to the city. Also, spending time with their dogs, Wilf and JoeJoe, was beautiful, they where very calm and funny, and really like to go to everywhere so you can walk them and enjoy the beautiful views of Nova Siri. We really love spend time with them! The acommodation is a big house with everything you need to have a good time and is very independent. Everything was peaceful and easy going, pretty and funny. I can keep listing all the reasons why we have an amazing time with them and I think that I'll keep getting shorter. Thank you, Rosemary and Simon for this beatiful and unforgetable experience!

Anne Marie and Struan could not have been kinder. Absolutely loved my experience and could not recommend them enough. Work was simple and they were so helpful with suggestions on what to do with my time off and helping me navigate my next move. Their is home is also so beautiful and a pleasure to stay in.

We feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to stay here, even if for just a short while. The dogs, cats, horses and even the chickens were friendly, easy to work with, and seem to be very happy in their beautiful home. We were able to stay here for about 2 weeks in mid September, and the weather even during that time of year was very fair aside from a few days of rain. Toffia, the nearby town, was a bit of a walk away but Francesco made sure to give good directions and we were able to walk there and meet lots of kind people and even make some friends ! Another great aspect of staying here is that even though Francesco and Bijaya were away for most of our time, the neighbors were very kind and came to help whenever necessary, even offering us rides into town or fixing our gas stove. This experience, while short for us, taught us a lot. The secluded nature allows you to be independent, but also teaches the importance of finding community in more isolated areas. We loved our time here and cannot recommend it enough to those seeking a unique and beautiful stay in an authentic rural part of Italy.

what to say?? as my first workaway experience everything was perfect. Neuza and his son welcomed me in the best way ever, the place is beautiful. work could be hard sometimes if you are not used to it but it's part of the game and it's satisfying! and then you can enjoy the best food ever with Neuza, if you like to cook and try different type of food it's the right place. The house is located in a beautiful area if you like to stay in nature, surf or hike that's the place! the beaches are nearby, some good spots for surfing. in the house you have your own space, your room, your bathroom, which is not such a given thing, everything cozy. I recommend this experience to all the workaweyers interested in learn something about gardening, sharing stories and food and explore this beautiful part of spain. thanks a lot to Neuza and her family for this opportunity.

We loved having Lilly to stay with us and really appreciated her enthusiasm, work ethic, conversational skills and independence. Lilly was a lovely person to have around, she loved our Grandchildren and was really committed to her time with us. We were able to share many stories and we so enjoyed Lilly's sense of humour, sense of the devine and sense of adventure. Thank you Lilly for your generous stay with us and for all your help building our bird shelters!!

I had a very pleasent month with Jordi and Cristina. They quickly welcomed me into their home in the calm countryside and I immediately felt like part of the routine. On workdays the 5-6 hours of hard but good work were rewarded with delicious food and lots of playtime with the lovely children. My work mainly consisted of gardening, working the streamer, collecting wood, feeding the horses and tidying up. Jordi and Cristina were happy to take me to the bus stop on my off-days and I was able to see some of the beautiful towns and cities of Catalonia. Cristina's parents who come by on the weekends are very kind people and Emilia's cooking is immaculate, just like Cristina's. Overall, I really recommend this family and I wish them all the best!

Kilian stayed with us for about three weeks and was one of the best workaways we ever had- he was simply amazing. Together with one of us he build us a ceiling and a floor for a room, a project that we wanted go to for a long time and finally, with Kilian, had the expertise to do so. We are immensely greatful for Kilians hard work! On a personal level, Kilian was easy to work and live with and we consider him now a friend, who is always welcome back. Thank you :)

Housesitting at the Ashram was the perfect stay – peaceful, creative, and full of good vibes. Mags the cat is a gentle soul who made the days extra sweet, and the garden was a joy to tend. A very enjoyable experience – I’d happily recommend it to any fellow Workawayers! Thanks Gloria

We are very happy that Kiera & Freya took care of our home and animals. Everything went smoothly, and we could tell our pets were comfortable and well looked after. The house was in perfect order when we returned. They are welcome back anytime and we would be glad to have her stay again in the future!

Carmen and David welcomed us very warmly. We had many lovely and meaningful conversations with them. They are truly kind and open-minded people. The work was enjoyable and not too hard. We also got to go on walks together with them and their dog — it was really nice. The stay was very pleasant, and we felt completely at ease. Thank you so much, Carmen and David, for your wonderful hospitality!

Staying with Nadene in East Van was such a great experience. From the very first moment, she made us feel welcome and at home. 
Nadene is such a kind, caring and fun host. Always making sure we felt comfortable, while keeping everything relaxed and easygoing. Spending time with her was a real pleasure. The work was flexible and well-organized, which made it easy and enjoyable, and we still had plenty of time to explore Vancouver. Nadene has the smart idea of writing tasks on cards so we could pick what suited us best ! It was a great way to work independently.
The space we stayed in (converted garage) was comfortable and gave us a nice balance between being part of the house and having our own little corner. We also really enjoyed meeting Justice and Kora (her lovely housemates), and of course Luna the cat ! Thank you so much, Nadene ! You made our last month in Canada so special. We truly hope to see you again soon ! ❤️

This is an incredible volunteer experience! The Swaminarayan campus is beautiful, and the opportunities are amazing. I'm grateful for the chance to teach and play with the children, immerse myself in the culture, and participate in meaningful activities like medical outreach programs and classes at the elderly home. The school has exceeded my expectations, and I'm thankful for the warm welcome and smiles from everyone. I am exited to return in the future!

Karina was the most wonderful guest… we both really loved having her here. Not only was she incredibly willing, available and capable, she did everything with a such light loving touch…such an exceptional young woman. We cannot recommend Karina enough, anyone would be grateful to have her add to their lives and projects. We wish her well in all her adventures and hope that she may come to visit us again someday.
