  We have a beautiful rural property in a small village. We have two acres of land, which includes an orchard and meadow, a swimming pool and lots of peace and quiet! We have cows for neighbours and are surrounded by wildlife. We have a great games room with pool, table tennis, darts and lots of board games.
  The area is great walking and cycling country, with some wonderful market towns within a 30 minute drive. We are a 15 minute drive from the nearest town and shops, however, there is a rural bar/restaurant within a 10 minute walk.
  There are three rivers in the area, so lots of opportunities for swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding. There are some wonderful open air swimming pools within 30 minutes, as well as chateaus, markets and some excellent restaurants. There is a great bar/ restaurant a 5 minute walk away.
  This is a great location for people wishing to have some peace and quiet but with lots to do within a short drive.
  Our family consists of my husband (Mike) and myself (Heather). We are both retired, I was a teacher of students with special needs in the UK. We have two grown up children who like to visit for holidays and have frequent other friends and family who visit us. We have a gorgeous young dog, a Hungarian Viszler cross, who was rescued from Cyprus. He is very friendly and great fun.

  Being in France is a wonderful way to pick up the language. As we are in rural France, travellers would see rural life and have a taste of real France. We have many friends in the area and there are lots of community activities going on, music events, night markets and ‘marche de producteurs’, as well as many local weekly markets. All of these events demonstrate the wonderful community culture of France. I love to cook and will happily share my experience of French, English and Indian cooking with visitors. Whatever the volunteers do, we will be alongside them, helping together to share our experience of both France and the UK, sharing and developing our language and understanding of each others culture.

  Ajuda

  We are looking for some help with our home and garden. We also need help with mowing (we have a ride on mower), weeding and trimming hedges. We are trying to start growing our own vegetables and have a vegetable plot. We have a variety of fruit trees and walnut trees. We also need help with things such as jet washing garden furniture and patios, and some other cleaning tasks.
  
  No previous experience required just some energy and common sense! We are unskilled ourselves and will help alongside the volunteers to share language and cultural experiences.

  Acomodação

  There would be a choice of rooms, either a ground floor double room with full private bathroom with separate access or two upstairs bedrooms with a shared en-suite bathroom (suitable for a family). We will provide bed, breakfast and an evening meal in return for 4 hours help each day.

  There is lots to do in time off, using the swimming pool, hammock or games room, as well as walking, cycling etc as described. Travellers would need their own transport as there is no public transport locally but the local town and pool can be reached by bike. We are 40 minutes from Poitiers and Futuroscope and we are 15 minutes from Vallee de Singes. There are some beautiful French villages within a short drive. There are many local community activities happening, night markets, music events, organised walking, jogging and cycling events, open water swimming in the lake, plus every local town has its own open air swimming pool.
  My husband and I will be living there, but the property has 4 bedrooms and plenty of space both inside and out.
