It was our first Workaway experience, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect start of our gap year. We spent a month there and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Adrian, Eva, and Ollie were very welcoming and made sure we were comfortable. If we had any questions or problems, they were always there to support us. They also made sure to show us this beautiful area and provide us with many recommendations, so it really felt like we got to know the place instead of just passing by. Even though we stayed there during the season and there was always something to do, we had a lot of fun and also the time to explore the area. We gathered a lot of experience, met many lovely people, and had really interesting conversations with the guests. We also crossed paths with other Workawayers there. So, to us, this place became a place of conversation and connection. And the dogs Scapa, ChiChi, and Boo were an absolute delight. 10/10, we would recommend and do it again, anytime

Tere is the warmest and most loving person I’ve ever met in my life, a truly kind soul who loves her animals, her land, and the people around her. Her farm is large and built with so much care and love, a green paradise in the middle of the clay-colored landscape. During our stay, the farm became our home and Tere became part of our family. The location is also great, you can easily reach Cochabamba by public transport, and taxis are very affordable. The small town of Punata is even closer and perfect for shopping groceries or getting fresh produce on the market. Life on the farm is peaceful, surrounded by nature, and the nearby mountains are wonderful for hiking. There’s also delicious homemade bread, kombucha, and olives from the farm when they’re in season. From time to time, you’ll also find other fruits and vegetables grown right there, like tomatoes, beans, or pomegranates. I can wholeheartedly recommend spending time with Tere, it’s a truly enriching experience for the soul.

I spent 2 weeks and had such an amazing time. The work is easy (helping at reception, cleaning rooms, handing out flyers, and bartending on Saturdays) and leaves plenty of free time to enjoy the beach, surfing or exploring the area. Weligama itself is such a welcoming place, especially if you love surfing! The hostel’s location is perfect — close enough to town, yet quiet and peaceful. Staff meals are provided daily, with a healthy lunch that everyone enjoys together. What makes this place so special is the family atmosphere. I met incredible people and made lifelong friends. Big thanks to the team and all the volunteers for making this month unforgettable. I’d love to come back one day!

It was such a real pleasure to host Gavin here. As the days went by, our connection deepened through great conversations and shared moments. I really enjoyed learning about his fascinating and varied background — he’s clearly gained a lot of wisdom from living in so many different cultures. Gavin brought a calm, grounded energy to the place and was always eager to help out — whether working on the land, getting creative, or just adding to the thoughtful vibe around the house. Our chats kept growing more engaging, often diving into music, art, and life’s bigger questions. He’s a kind and genuine soul, and I can’t recommend him enough to any future hosts. Thanks so much for everything, Gavin — and for all the good energy you brought. Hope to see you again soon, Inshallah 🙏🎶

Sharna was great company. The house was a bit of a mess as her stay coincided with me having the floor coverings replaced in three bedrooms. Furniture had to be removed from the rooms. Sharna help me with that. She also helped with other chores around the house She well deserves a 5 star rating. I have no hesitation in recommending her to any future hosts. She has the personal skills to fit in anywhere. Enjoy your travels Sharna

Hanna She has been a fantastic workawayer in every way. She has integrated very well into our family, has been very affective with our daughters and with our little dog Billy 🙂. She is a very kind and respectful girl, and we would be delighted to have her at our home again. We wish her all the best.

This September i had the good fortune to stay with Boris and Helene and i loved it! The place They've made a lovely place with a permaculture garden and a magical tiny forest (Bosque) The surrounding area is beautiful and serene, with misty hills and a starry sky at night.. It's very peaceful and quiet. They provided a comfortable guesthouse to the workawayers. The people To me Boris and Helene felt very gentle and genuine. Spiritual as well as down to earth. They're quite active and work hard and achieve a lot, i found this to be truly inspiring! And i thoroughly enjoyed the company of the other workawayer, Jeanne (Rock on Jeanne!) The food I really liked Helene's cooking, every day she would make a warm lunch for us, using lovely organic ingredients. Every day we got a fresh and beautiful meal, pure, simple and tasty and made with French flair;) She took into account my allergies. The work The work was good, digging and de-stone-ing the red earth, clear paths in the tiny forest, get manure to fertilize the soil, I really enjoyed it. Boris and Helene found jobs and tasks that fit well and they often checked with us to see if we were alright with what we're doing. The play In the weekend they took us to the local spa and to see the surroundings and we played games. Even though my French is not so good we were still able to communicate and have conversations both light and profound. I specially enjoyed the talks we had with Boris on the way to get the manure:) I feel that there was a healthy balance: Balance between work and rest. And balance between time spent together and time for yourself. The meaning All in all i felt very welcome and taken care of and it was difficult to say goodbye. Thank you so much guys! There is a French word i learned there: "Chemin" It means: "Path" or "way". These people are on their own path and i learned a bit more about my own chemin here too. Thank you again Boris and Helene Hugs Alex

Joanna spent with us over 2 months volunteering and being a great contribution to our team at our hostel. She is very experienced in hospitality as she is running a bar for a very long time back home in Switzerland, so her skills and her experience were very helpful in our hostel, especially in hosting the social events which was the most important part of her work. Joanna is very organized, flexible and easy to make arrangments with - overall a great team member that everybody liked to work with, so I can not really recommend her enough and it was pleasure to have her at our hostel.

We spent two and a half weeks with Mireia and Carles and it is an experience every workawayer should have! From the first day, they were so generous and kind sharing their food, garden, and space with us. Mireia even picked us up from the train station! They show great care in the balance of work and accommodation. We stayed in their cabin and most of the work we did was renovating the space (painting, clay application, drywalling, sanding, interior decoration, outdoor maintenance, stair building, weed-wacking, etc.). Mireia and Carles are wonderful cooks, and we had many shared meals and great conversation. We miss the food already! The cabin had its own kitchen and bathroom (with warm water), and access to laundry machines generously shared in the main house. One downside was that there were a lot of mosquitos during our stay. But Mireia gave us some supplies to protect ourselves and offered indoor tasks like painting and drywalling. We appreciate the flexibility and thoughtfulness. We were free to work on a list of tasks for 4-5 hours a day, and had the rest of our time to ourselves. We left feeling like we were a part of their lives and family. This was truly such a great experience that we definitely recommend and would do again! Thank you so much!!!

Louise volunteered with us for sometime and during her stay she contributed a lot towards making our hostel a home away from home for guests as well as other volunteers. She's dependable and a fast learner, and takes her responsibilities seriously. She's got a great sense of humour and generally spreads a lot of good vibes. We would love to host her again someday. Highly recommended.

Nicklas stayed with us for a month and he was of great help with the kids! He's got this positive, calm energy that is needed to handle our young devils so we were very grateful to be able to count on his help. Nicklas was very self-suficient, responsible, adaptable and always able to help so I'd recommend to any family needing an extra pair of hands. Thank you very much Nicklas! I wish you safe travels

I stayed with Eimer and Leonard for six months, and it truly felt like home. They are warm, kind, and respectful people who made me feel welcome from the very beginning. They introduced me to wonderful people who have now become close friends, and they showed me around the area as well as other beautiful parts of Ireland. They were incredibly supportive—helping me find work and always there whenever I needed anything. During my stay, I took care of their lovely dog, helped in the garden, and supported them with some household tasks. They were always flexible and understanding with the work, which made everything feel natural and fair. It honestly felt like being part of a family. Thank you so much for these amazing months!

Thank you so much for helping US! It was such a pleasure to host both of you. You were both wonderful volunteers — very helpful, kind, and great with the kids. The painting work you did was amazing, and your cooking was delicious too! I truly appreciate your help and positive energy. You’re always welcome back anytime! If you need help, I’d definitely recommend them.

I had a nice time staying with Frank and Mia this August. Their house was incredibly beautiful, as well as the surrounding environment. Although my French wasn't that great, it was still fun to get to know their neighbours, who often came over. Mia and Frank were very kind and hospitable, and made sure I had a real Alsacian experience (especially food-wise). I sadly couldn't stay long since it clashed with another holiday of mine.
