Ready for an Adventure? Join Our Hostel Crew in Unawatuna!
Hello, future volunteer! So, you’re looking to swap the everyday grind for sun, surf, and good vibes? Welcome! We’re a small, lively hostel near Unawatuna Beach on Sri Lanka’s stunning south coast, and we’re always on the lookout for friendly, social volunteers to bring energy to our little slice of paradise. We’re close to the beach (not on it, but hey, it’s a quick stroll!), and we’re just a tuk-tuk ride from the historic Galle Fort.
What We’re All About
Our mission is simple: "To Create an Unforgettable Experience of a Lifetime for Each of Our Guests." Every day, we welcome guests from around the world, creating a family-like vibe full of laughter, stories, and new friendships. If you’re the kind of person who loves to chat, laugh, and make connections, you’re exactly who we’re looking for!
Who’s in the Crew?
Our small but mighty team includes a manager, a fantastic cook (who makes everyone’s day brighter) a friendly housekeeper, and we always aim to host around five volunteers at a time. But here’s the deal—you’ll need to pitch in by doing your own dishes after meals. We believe in keeping it real and respecting our space, so a bit of cleanup is part of the fun!
As a volunteer, you’ll be handling a few reception shifts, helping with our social media (think: Insta-worthy snaps and stories), and planning simple activities to keep the good vibes going. And most importantly, you’ll be mingling with guests to help everyone feel right at home. If you’re the type who enjoys chatting with new people and bringing smiles to their faces, you’ll fit right in.
What We Offer
We ask for up to 15 hours of your time each week, leaving you loads of time to explore Unawatuna and soak up the Sri Lankan sunshine. Volunteers get free shared accommodation in a cozy dorm, plus access to breakfast and dinner at a big volunteer discount!
Here’s the scoop: For Rs. 500 each (about half of what guests pay), you can enjoy breakfast or our delicious family-style vegetarian dinner. Breakfast includes toast, eggs (veg/vegan option available!), butter, jam, and tea/coffee to start the day right. Dinner is a traditional Sri Lankan meal, where everyone eats together. Need some extra protein? Add a portion of meat or fish for Rs. 500 more. (Prices are in Sri Lankan Rupees—no trading your flip-flops for food, promise.)
How to Stand Out (Hint: We Love a Sense of Humor!)
Ready to join? Here’s a tip to get noticed: Please use the subject line "Hi, I am looking forward to becoming a part of your hostel family" when you message us. Then, don’t be shy—show us a bit of your personality! We’re hoping for more than the usual “Hello, I’d like to volunteer.” Make us laugh, tell us what makes you fun, or share a quirky talent! We’re all about real connections, so bring on your best self!
What You’ll Get in Return
If you join our crew, we promise unforgettable memories, new friends, and stories to take home. Our place is the kind where friendships form, laughs are shared, and good times just happen naturally. We can’t wait to hear from you and hopefully welcome you into our hostel family!
Cheers,
Rajiv

What’s in It for You? A Cultural Adventure (With Perks You Didn’t Know You Needed)!
Picture yourself behind the front desk, mastering the fine art of hostel management while keeping a straight face as guests ask you questions only a crystal ball could answer. With a little training, you’ll soon be the go-to for everything hostel-related, from check-ins to dispensing wisdom about the best hidden spots in town. Whether you’re eyeing a future in hospitality or just want the bragging rights of “I survived the front desk,” this is your moment.
Of course, the real adventure here is the people. You’ll meet travelers from every far-flung corner of the world, swapping stories that might make you question humanity (in a good way). Think of Unawatuna as your backdrop, with its beaches, temples, and secret spots tourists rarely find. And just 5.5 km away is Galle Fort—a hauntingly beautiful relic of the Dutch colonial era where you can stroll around, feeling like the star of your own historical drama.
And don’t worry—you’re not chained to the front desk. With a flexible schedule and the chance to swap shifts, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the southern coast. Picture it: secluded beaches, epic sunsets, and local haunts so mysterious even the locals raise an eyebrow.
Then there’s the thrill-seeking lineup: surfing, diving, and whale watching (the real kind, not the “is that a rock or a shark?” kind). With beach parties, hidden coves, and nights you’ll half-remember, this place has everything you could want… and maybe a few things you didn’t know you needed. Just bring your sense of adventure, a touch of courage, and a readiness for tales that may haunt you for years to come. This is your invitation to an experience that’s unforgettable—if you’re brave enough to dive in.Ajuda
What You’ll Be Getting Up To as a Volunteer
Ready to be part of the action? Your role here is all about bringing great vibes and making every guest feel like they’ve hit the jackpot with their stay. Here’s a peek at what you’ll dive into:
Reception Shifts: The Friendly Face of the Place
You’ll be the one welcoming our guests with a smile! Your front desk duties include checking people in and out, entering purchases, and collecting payments. Never done it before? Don’t sweat it! We’ll show you the ropes with a quick training session, so you’ll feel like a front desk pro in no time. These shifts count toward your weekly 15-hour commitment, so you’ve got loads of free time to enjoy all that Unawatuna has to offer!
Organizing Activities: The Official Fun Meister
Here’s where you get to unleash your party-planning powers! From card games and BBQ nights to quiz nights, board games, karaoke, and the occasional pub crawl—you’ll be keeping things lively and helping guests mingle. Got an idea for an activity? Go for it! Your goal is to make sure everyone’s having a blast, with loads of laughs and new friends made by the end of the night.
Social Media & Photography: The Memory Maker
Got an eye for a good shot? Snap away during your stay! We’d love for you to capture those great moments around the hostel and send a few our way so we can share the good times with the world. And if social media’s your thing, you might get to take the reins on our Instagram—think epic guest stories, snapshots of fun, and maybe a sunset or two!Idiomas

Acomodação
Each volunteer gets a cozy bed in a shared dorm room with all the essentials! You’ll have charging sockets to keep your gadgets juiced up, easy access to washrooms, and fresh towels and bed linen (so no need to pack your own!). Got some beach gear that needs a wash? We’ve got laundry services for Rs. 1,500 a load—because even adventurers need clean socks now and then!
Algo mais...
Most attractions are just a walk or a quick tuk-tuk ride away. And if you’re feeling adventurous, we can set you up with a scooter rental at a special volunteer discount. Helmet on, wind in your face, and the thrill of dodging the occasional monkey paparazzi trying to photobomb your journey—welcome to the real Sri Lankan experience!
