Hello and welcome to our little Farm!
We are Teresa (Tere) and Tayfur (T), and together we live on a beautiful one-hectare farm about one hour from Cochabamba, near the municipality of San Benito.
Teresa bought the land in 1993 and has spent many years transforming it into a small green oasis with the help of family, friends, and many wonderful Workawayers from all over the world. Tayfur first came here as a Workawayer himself and quickly fell in love with the peaceful lifestyle, the community, and the land. After his stay, he decided to make Bolivia his home, bought a small part of the property, and has now been living here for over a year. Today, we share the land and work together on its continued development.
Over the years, Tere has created a true little paradise. What was once a simple piece of very dry land, has grown into a lush and vibrant sanctuary filled with trees, flowers, and wildlife. Today, the farm is known as one of the greenest and most densely planted properties in the area. Thanks to the abundance of vegetation, it has also become a home and refuge for countless birds, whose songs can be heard throughout the day. The rich biodiversity and peaceful atmosphere make the farm a special place not only for us but also for many of the animals that have chosen to make it their home.
Our farm is home to a variety of fruit trees, including pears, apples, and figs, pommegranates, as well as many olive trees and aloe vera plants. We also have a fenced vegetable garden and a small greenhouse where we grow vegetables and tropical plants.
One of the newest additions to the farm, and something we are especially proud of, is our natural swimming pool. After a lot of planning and work, it was completed less than a year ago and has quickly become one of the highlights of the property. It is Tere's favorite place on the farm, a peaceful spot to relax, cool off on warm days, and enjoy the surrounding nature.
Life here is closely connected to nature. We share our home with four cats, three dogs, around twenty chickens living in two chicken houses, three free-roaming llamas, and eight beehives that provide us with our own honey.
From time to time, Teresa's children, Natalia and Sergio, who are currently studying and working abroad, also return to spend time on the farm.
We enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and cultures and believe that Workaway is about much more than exchanging work for accommodation. For us, it is about sharing experiences, learning from each other, creating meaningful connections, and building a small community around a common project.
Whether your passion lies in gardening, caring for animals, sustainable living, woodworking, building and improving structures, photography and videography, or simply learning by doing, there is always something to discover and contribute here. We would love to welcome you to our little oasis and share this journey with you.
We look forward to meeting you!

Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado
Staying with us offers the opportunity to experience authentic rural life in Bolivia beyond the usual tourist routes. By living and working alongside us, volunteers gain insight into the daily rhythms of a small farming community in the Cochabamba Valley and learn about local traditions, customs, and ways of life.
You will have the chance to practice and improve your Spanish, learn about Bolivian food and agriculture, and experience firsthand how a small family farm operates using sustainable and organic principles. We are always happy to share our knowledge about growing fruit trees, keeping chickens, beekeeping, irrigation systems, and the challenges and rewards of rural living.
Because our backgrounds are quite different, cultural exchange naturally becomes an important part of everyday life. Teresa brings decades of experience living and farming in Bolivia, while Tayfur arrived as a Workawayer himself and can share his perspective on settling into a new culture and building a life abroad.
We often share meals, conversations, local stories, and visits to nearby towns and markets. At the same time, we enjoy learning about the cultures, languages, skills, and experiences that our guests bring with them. For us, Workaway is not just about exchanging work for accommodation, it is about meeting interesting people, learning from each other, and creating meaningful connections across cultures.
By the end of your stay, we hope you will leave not only with new practical skills and experiences, but also with a deeper understanding of Bolivian culture, rural life, and the value of community living.

The help on our farm varies throughout the year and depends largely on the season and the projects we are currently focusing on.
Much of the regular farm help revolves around caring for our fruit and vegetable trees. This includes preparing and improving the soil, applying organic fertilizers, maintaining and expanding the drip irrigation systems, watering manually, controlling weeds, pruning trees, and caring for the gardens and greenhouse.
During harvest season, volunteers often help collect the produce, and can enjoy a part of the fresh harvest after.
The animals also require attention year-round. Our chickens, llamas, dogs, cats, and bees all contribute to life on the farm and appreciate a little extra care.
The most important daily responsibilities on the farm involve caring for Tere's animals.
Every morning, the chickens are fed and let out of their coops to roam freely around the property. In the evening, they are fed again and safely secured inside their chicken houses to protect them from predators during the night. Our dogs and cats are also fed as part of the daily routine. It's a quick but daily process.
Another regular task is what we affectionately call "Llama Duty." Especially during the winter months, when natural grazing becomes more limited, the llamas are brought to areas near the house where they can enjoy fresh vegetation and supplemental feeding. During this time, volunteers keep an eye on them to make sure they stay safe and don't decide to go on an unexpected adventure through the neighborhood. Llama Duty is usually a relaxed and enjoyable task that gives you plenty of time to interact with these curious and entertaining animals, or just sit on a blanket and read a book.
One thing that never changes is that there are always new projects underway.
We enjoy improving and beautifying the farm and are always open to creative ideas and fresh perspectives from our guests.
Since Tayfur joined the property, we have also been working on developing his part of the land. This means there are often opportunities to help with house-building projects, renovations, woodworking, concrete work, fencing, and the construction of various structures and outdoor spaces. Volunteers who enjoy practical, hands-on work usually find plenty of interesting projects to get involved in with T.
We are also happy to welcome volunteers with creative skills. There is always places for art on the farm!
We are especially interested in meeting people with experience in:
• Rainwater harvesting systems
• Renewable energy, particularly photovoltaic and solar thermal installations
• Automated irrigation systems
• Restoration and renovation projects
• Sustainable and ecological building techniques
Of course, experience in these areas is absolutely not required. Curiosity, motivation, and a willingness to learn are far more important. Whether you are an experienced craftsperson or simply eager to try something new, we would be happy to hear from you.

Acomodação
You will stay in one of our private one-room apartments, each equipped with its own bathroom and kitchen. Depending on availability, you may even have a small furry roommate: Pinky the cat, who occasionally likes to share her space and cuddle with our guests.
All apartments offer beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and provide a comfortable place to relax after a day on the farm.
One of the highlights of both apartments is the large rooftop terrace. From there, you can enjoy a wonderful view over the village and a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of the mountains surrounding the valley. Whether you're having your morning coffee, watching the sunset, stargazing at night, or simply relaxing after a day of work, the terrace is a special place to take in the beauty and tranquility of the area.
WiFi (2.4 and 5 GHz), hot showers, and a washing machine are available for you to use.
Tere usually enjoys lunch together with the Workawayers and we love exchanging stories and experiences from different cultures. If you would like to cook a dish from your home country for us sometime, we are always happy to try something new. Breakfast and dinner are generally prepared individually by each volunteer.
A shared supply of basic food items is available free of charge within reasonable limits, including bread, milk, cheese, fruits, oats, and other essentials (we do not provide meat).
Over the years, we have hosted many volunteers from around the world and have gained plenty of experience creating a welcoming and enjoyable Workaway environment.
We kindly ask all guests to help keep their apartment clean and tidy during their stay.
Algo mais...
The Valle Alto is a region of Cochabamba known for its agricultural traditions, beautiful landscapes, and the clear light that gives the area its unique character. The countryside is dotted with charming small towns, surrounded by mountains in every direction, while many of Bolivia's most famous natural and cultural attractions can be reached within a few hours.
Our farm is located about 30 km from downtown Cochabamba. Public transportation is easy and affordable, with minibuses and buses passing along the main road every few minutes. The journey takes approximately one hour and costs around 10 Bolivianos. There are also several small shops and local eateries within walking distance of the farm. In general, rural Bolivia offers a very affordable cost of living.
The climate here is characterized by two distinct seasons: summer and winter. During the summer months, we receive occasional strong rainfalls, although our region is much drier than Bolivia's tropical and rainforest areas such as Santa Cruz. Temperatures are generally very warm. In winter, nights and mornings can become surprisingly freezing, while daytime temperatures sometimes still rise to around 20°C. Because of these strong temperature differences, we recommend bringing a variety of clothing suitable for both warm days and chilly mornings and evenings.
Due to the many acacia trees on and around the property, sturdy shoes or boots are highly recommended, as their thorns can easily puncture thin footwear. Good sun protection is also important, since we are located at an altitude of approximately 2,700 meters above sea level, where the UV Index can be quite intense.
As is common in rural Bolivia, some of the neighboring dogs can be rather enthusiastic about announcing visitors and occasionally bark during the night. If you are sensitive to noise while sleeping, bringing a good pair of earplugs is a good idea.
