Hello dear hosts and fellow Workawayers,

My name is Lena (26), and I just finished my degree in Psychology in Vienna. After years of studying, thinking, and engaging with theories, I feel the need to clear my mind a little bit.

I grew up in a small village in the countryside but have been living in Vienna for the past seven years. While I love city life, I constantly feel drawn back to nature. Lately, this urge has been even stronger - I long to spend more time outdoors and do work that engages my hands rather than just my mind. For years, I’ve dreamed of working on a ranch in Canada, as I’ve completely fallen in love with its landscapes. Now that I’ve finally completed my studies, it’s the perfect time to make this dream come true. And to make this adventure even more special, I would love the chance to get back into horseback riding! I used to ride as a child but haven’t been in the saddle for years, so it would be amazing to experience it again. This journey is also the perfect opportunity to refresh my English skills, which I haven’t used as much in recent years.

I love animals, enjoy singing in a choir, practicing yoga, hiking, being in the mountains and forests and just floating in the water. I also REALLY love cooking, and - believe it or not - even doing household chores! I’m an open-minded and cheerful person who finds joy in the little things of everyday life. I genuinely enjoy meeting new people and listening to others (maybe it’s the psychologist in me haha). I’m adventurous and always up for new experiences. Respectful and empathetic interactions, as well as open communication, are very important to me.

I have quite a bit of travel experience, though mostly within Europe. I’ve done an Interrail trip and countless campervan adventures across different countries.

I can’t wait to meet new people, immerse myself in nature, and gain hands-on experience while fulfilling my long-held dream of exploring Canada.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have good practical skills and enjoy working with my hands. Growing up, I often helped my dad with repairs around the house (not complex work, but fixing things here and there), which gave me a good sense of problem-solving and a hands-on approach. I’ve always loved crafting and working on small DIY projects.

I also really enjoy working with furniture! I have done several projects where I repainted or refurbished pieces to give them a fresh new look. Bringing old furniture back to life is something I find very satisfying, and I’d love to put those skills to use if needed.

I have a green thumb, mainly with houseplants, but I’m very eager to learn more about growing vegetables and taking care of a garden. I grew up with a vegetable garden and helped out a lot, so I have some experience and a strong interest in expanding my knowledge in this area.

Cooking and keeping a household running come naturally to me - I enjoy organizing, cleaning, and creating a cozy environment. I’m also a confident driver and can handle different types of vehicles well.

One of my biggest strengths is working with animals. I have always loved and connected with them, and I feel very comfortable caring for them. Whether it's feeding, grooming, or just spending time with them, I’m more than happy to help out in any way needed.

I’m always eager to learn new things and excited to take on different tasks - I’d love to contribute wherever I can!
