Description
Hi, I'm Thomas, currently looking for a volunteer farm job. I've been working on a farm (WWOOF) from September till December 2024 in France and Spain and I liked it a lot. After 2 months of backpacking/travelling in Thailand and Cambodia I have the need/desire again to make myself feel more useful and give something back to the country and community. Since I arrived in Siem Reap I feel really at home and am in love with this place.
I am open for all sorts of activities and working farm jobs. I don't possess a very specific set of skills when it comes to machinery and or tools and I don't have a degree in gardening or anything. But I am willing to learn and also learn more about agriculture, nature, plants and of course the local culture and it's people.
A list of activities I did on the 5 farms in France and Spain: harvesting fruit and vegetables, weeding, sowing, mulching, planting and pruning trees, feeding animals, clean out goat and chicken pens, construct fences,woodcutting, digging, preparing orders for customers, help out at the stand of the farmers market, building stone walls and stairs, painting, plastering, rooftile laying. I don't mind doing simple, repatitive and hard labor tasks. I am flexible and can work when needed, I don't mind working 4, 6 or 8 yours a day. I don't necessarily need Saturday or Sundays off, it can be other days. Although I do like some free time because I really like to cycle with a mountainbike around Siem Reap and Angkor Wat. Some of my characteristics:open, spontaneous, easy going, patient with people, hard and detailed worker if needed.
Back home in the Netherlands I used to be an Instructor/teacher at a school, not for kids but for other adults and teachers.

Favorite hobbies since I've been traveling: hiking in the mountains, mountainbiking, hitchhiking so I can visit villages, natural parks, cities and explore the country and this way you meet the nicest local people. Also because I don't have a car. Listening to music, reading about history of countries. Watch nature or history documentaries, although I really don't miss my TV haha.
