I had a wonderful time with Tammy! I got to sleep in a tree tent which was an amazing, rustic experience; you can hear what all the animals are up to at night. We worked on some renovations on the house and I really enjoyed working and spending time together. She taught me how to use a chainsaw and we went for swims, hikes and sunset hunting after work. I really felt at home and welcome in Tammy's environment. If you're looking for a cultural/learning exchange and not just a work exchange, this is the place for you. Tammy is a wonderful human being!

I spent a month together with Ana and her partner Adrian on their land in the countryside. My experience was positive from the very beginning and equally formative. The land offers various types of fruit trees as well as a vegetable garden; the cats are adorable, and it was also very nice to get to know Ana’s neighbors and friends. On a social level I felt great: I had the chance to learn Spanish as well as some permaculture techniques. I really appreciated having the opportunity to experiment and put my own ideas into practice. Altea is a fantastic city that lacks nothing: beach, sea, hiking trails, and mountains just a few kilometers away. Ana is an extremely helpful person and, even though she is not wealthy, she never let me lack anything: the fridge was always full of excellent-quality food, work equipment, etc. She is very active in the local area and is involved in various social initiatives that promote collaboration and community cohesion. Adrian is an excellent cook, a permaculture practitioner with great practical skills, and it’s always fun to be around him! In Ana’s home I truly felt like part of the family. I recently spent 3 weeks with Claire and Joe. They were amazing hosts and I had a tremendous time working/staying at their chateau. We spent time renovating an old barn, planting, and doing odds 'n ends around the farm. It is a beautiful setting and they are very easy to work with. I really appreciate what they are doing to restore the history of the premises. It is truly a process of love for them. The surrounding towns/country is beautiful. Lots to explore and discover. Thank you Joe/Claire for providing me with such a fun way to discover Brittany.

Pasé dos semanas en casa de Pilar, ¡y el tiempo se me pasó volando! En cuanto llegué, Pilar (que me recogió en la estación de Gandía) me hizo sentir como en mi casa. Ella siempre se preocupa de que estés bien, de que no te canses demasiado, de que te guste la comida y que sea suficiente. Comí varias frutas tropicales del huerto de Pilar: kiwis, aguacates, chirimoyas... ¡estas nunca las había probado! La casa es pequeña pero tiene todo lo necesario, y las dos estufas la hacen muy cómoda (uno de los trabajos es traer la leña a la casa). Durante el fin de semana, su hermana, su hija y su hijo con sus parejas y dos nietos divertidos y lindos también estuvieron allí... una familia muy unida, interesante y amable. Solo hablan español por lo que es fácil mejorar el lenguaje. El trabajo era variado y fácil (ver otros voluntarios), y en los alrededores hay muchos pueblecitos que son fáciles de visitar en la tarde, cuando uno está libre (a hacia una hora a pie desde casa de Pilar). Mis favoritos fueron Beniarjó, Font d'en Carros y Potríes (allí una tarde fui a un concierto de música, muy bonito), El sábado, que tuve todo el día libre, recorrí la Vía Verde del Serpis, un sendero que sigue la antigua vía del tren (también con túneles) en medio de las montañas, ¡y fue maravilloso! Si vous faites des travaux chez vous, Marco est sans doute la meilleure chose qui puisse vous arriver. Il est compétent, entreprenant et expérimenté dans beaucoup d'aspects . Il intervient rapidement, avec précision et un grand savoir-faire, anticipe les problèmes potentiels et trouve une solution même aux situations les plus complexes. Il va profondément chercher des solutions et éclaircis les problèmes avec douceurs et enthousiasme. Il n'est resté que quelques jours chez moi, c'était ma première expérience workaway. Son aide a été précieuse, c'est aussi une personne très agréable. Attentionné et sociable, il apprécie les conversations et possède un excellent sens de l'humour. Ce fut un réel plaisir de l'accueillir. Je lui suis très reconnaissante pour tout ce qu'il a fait et serais ravie de le revoir à tout moment.

Manu and Rob are very good hosts. They picked lovely people and I've spent three weeks in a environment where you look forward to every new day, even though the work can be hard. It was nice to do physical work (with a fantastic view) and then rest by the fire and have such good conversations while eating home cooked meals. I could also learn a lot about perma culture and gained a new perspective on life. "there are no problems, only solutions!" Manu always says. I am really grateful that I was part of this experience and could take away a lot of this spirit. I wish you alle the best, hope the universe keeps showing you that things fall into place if you trust in life and keep looking for solutions instead of problems ✨

The weeks I spent at Backefors were truly enjoyable. Thorsten is a very generous and helpful host, ready to tell the story of the place or show interesting activities or places, it was also very nice to chat and share meals together. The house is very comfortable and has every comfort, if you like to cook here you will find a lot of interesting tools. The surrounding nature is beautiful and fascinating, you can go swimming at the lake or take a walk in nature. The neighbors are extremely nice and kind people and it was a great pleasure meeting them too. If you like to try and experiment with many different activities here you will have the opportunity to do so, the tasks are very varied. If you love nature, tranquility, deep conversations, you want to explore and a lot of curiosity, you'll be in the right place here. Thank you Thorsten for this experience, Backefors Lake’s has a place in my heart.

I had a great time at the farm. The place is peaceful, surrounded by nature, and perfect to disconnect. You learn a lot about coffee cultivation while experiencing daily life on the farm. I was there in mid-November, right at the beginning of the coffee harvest season. Most of my days were spent picking coffee cherries or processing them. The hosts are lovely—very welcoming and generous. The meals are homemade, simple, and delicious. I also really enjoyed spending time with the other volunteers in a relaxed and authentic atmosphere. It’s the perfect experience if you want to slow down, learn new things, and live a slice of rural life in Nepal. 100% recommend it!

What a joy it was to read these lovely words! Vishnu joined us on a last-minute call, and we truly appreciated how seriously and thoughtfully he stepped into the work. He approached each task with care and genuine respect for the women and community involved, taking time to listen, understand, and respond in ways that were meaningful and grounded. We believe that meaningful work happens through mutual support - because caring for others also means caring for the people doing the work. It was our pleasure at all times. This sense of mutual respect and collaboration was something Vishnu carried naturally throughout his time with us. We are grateful for the foundation he helped create and are continuing to build on that work with new team members. Vishnu was a thoughtful, committed and reliable presence in our community, and we warmly recommend him as a volunteer.

I stayed for a little over three weeks and had a truly great experience. Mathilde and Janna are incredibly kind and welcoming hosts; always caring and easy to communicate with. The atmosphere at the hostel is extremely warm and comforting; I felt at home from the very first day ! The workload is very reasonable and varied, with the opportunity to discover and help with bar work, which makes the experience even more interesting. The profiles of the workawayers selected are very relevant, and we all shared an amazing time together — lots of good moments, laughs, and a real sense of community. I would definitely recommend this hostel : 10/10 Workaway 🤗

Je suis resté deux semaines chez Marie-Anne et Ludovic et c'était tellement un incroyable expérience ! Ils étaient chaleureux et amicaux, ils font en sorte toujours que je me sente à l'aise. On a discuté plein de sujets au niveau de la cuisine, l'esprit, et surtout la différence de la vie en France par rapport à la Nouvelle Zélande. Ils était hyper ravis de me faire visiter l'alentours et de m'accompagner pendant les excursions, que ce soit une journée au marché, soit sur la Gorge de la Ardèche. Ma partie préféré est le petit moments pendant nos petit déjeuners. J'ai vraiment aimé à vivre un petit déjeuners typique français avec les tartine et les boisson chaud qui sont servi dans un bol ! Et bien sûr, il faut pas oublier les crêpes au manioc de Ludovic et le pain à la farine de petit épeautre de Marie-Anne :)) Le travail était très agréable et varié, la plupart du temps je bossais avec Ludovic ou leur voisin, ce qui le rendait plus animé. Je vraiment aimé le fait que mon travail ait un impact positif sur leur vie quotidienne. Merci beaucoup de m'avoir accueilli, j'ai de la chance de vous rencontrais et d'avoir resté chez vous !!

Caroly stayed at the farmhouse for a little over two months. Longer than usual. He's a very kind, polite, respectful boy, and very good at the tasks assigned to him—masonry tasks, which aren't for everyone (I told him it could really be a career for him). He's a boy who enjoys moments of solitude and praying and he found them here. Thank you so much, it was very valuable.

I stayed two weeks at Lautaro’s place and had a truly beautiful experience. I helped with the bees, worked in the garden creating beds and planting flowers, and we built a greenhouse to start flower seedlings. I also cooked lunch and dinner most days. Beyond the work, we went kayaking, took long walks, swam in the lake, and visited nearby hot springs that were so relaxing I didn’t want to leave. The place is stunning — very remote, peaceful, and surrounded by nature, with a harmonious mix of native plants and fruit trees. The views and the sense of calm are hard to describe. Lautaro has a lot of knowledge about the local plants and animals and was always happy to share it. I also got along very well with him — he’s friendly, sociable, and always available, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I truly recommend this Workaway to anyone looking for nature, meaningful work, and good energy.

I spent four weeks on the island with the guys and I have to say it was one of the most defining experiences of my life. Lombok has the nicest people I have ever met. As I became part of a big team and slowly got to know the people living in the area, after a while it felt like I was a local too. My accommodation and food at Jasmine's was fantastic. I got to know the whole family and felt like a member of it. The project mainly focuses on teaching English to children, but my work was more about DIY and photography. Sometimes I helped with the English classes, which was a great experience, but most of my time was spent DIYing with Superwadi or taking pictures of the team, the homestay owners or the children in the English class. I loved every minute of it! The guys organized a lot of activities together: we camped on the secret island, did a waterfall tour, studied Bahasa, went to the local market together and then cooked a local dish together, played pool, visited local families, or just chilled at Basecamp The other volunteers were also really cool, we had a great time together! I loved riding my motorbike around the area and getting to know the locals. I always did that, when ever there was no joint program (very rarely). I highly recommend this volunteer opportunity to anyone who wants to be part of a wonderful community! Dayat, Carolina, Wanda, Al, Ayung, SuperWadi, Aly, Belo, Sardi, Dina, Meme, Jasmine and all the others - thank you guys so much! I think a piece of my heart stayed with them, so I'll have to go back to get it back :)

Es muss Spass sein. It has to be fun. That is the slogan of Meike and Paul, so expect regular breaks, a sheerful atmosphere and no stress. I could stay in their comfortable house in Encinasola between the locals, while the finca where they live is a few kilometers out of town. Though I usually don't eat pork I was flabbergasted by the perfectly prepared meat of the black iberico pig that you see all over the region, living a happy life, feeding themselves with the fruit of the oaktrees. So for several reasons I advice you to visit them when you have the chance.

I couldn’t have asked better for a first workaway experience! Kylie and Paul are amazing people with a lot of stories ans knowledge to share. If you want to experience off grid living this is the place to go and you will be surounded by many farm animals and wildlife. I even went to an aboriginal festival with Kylie, which was a really unique and unexpected experience. Thank you both for the amazing time :)

English: In November 2025 I spent 10 days with Agustín, Sylvie and Aymeric. It was the perfect time of the year to work in their greenhouse and their arboretum. It is a piece of land with newly planted maple trees, a fish pond and more, still to be developed and to be completed within the next years. I really enjoyed driving the small tractor (cutting the grass of the entire plot of land and transporting mulch). Agustín gave clear and details instructions what and how to do everything. He made sure I was comfortable and safe with everything and every aspect concerning the tasks and the work in general. In the evening we had very nice conversations around the table, so it was a perfect opportunity to improve my French. This notably with Sylvie, who spoke clearly and precise with me, which made it a perfect language course. Thank you Sylvie! Aymeric knows a lot about movies, so we had an interesting talk about film music one evening. Thank you for lending me your collection of modern comic strips as well as the classic Asterix volumes which I could finally read in French. Talking about delights... we had delicious dinners every time. I savored the guinea fowl and other dishes which I never tastes before. Since there are forest trails near Pibrac I took the time to explore the surroundings and made a train trip to Toulouse as well. All in all it was a very positive experience and I really recommend to stay with Agustín and his family. Français: En novembre 2025, j'ai passé 10 jours avec Agustín, Sylvie et Aymeric. C'était la période idéale de l'année pour travailler dans leur serre et leur arboretum. Il s'agit d'un terrain avec des érables nouvellement plantés, un étang à poissons et bien d'autres choses encore, qui doit être aménagé et achevé dans les prochaines années. J'ai vraiment apprécié de conduire le petit tracteur (pour couper la prairie et transporter le paillis). Agustín m'a donné des instructions claires et détaillées sur ce qu'il fallait faire et comment le faire. Il s'est assuré que je me sentais à l'aise et en sécurité avec tout ce qui concernait les tâches et le travail en général. Le soir, nous avons eu de très agréables conversations autour de la table, ce qui m'a permis d'améliorer mon français. Notamment avec Sylvie, qui s'exprimait clairement et précisément avec moi, ce qui m'a offert un cours de langue parfait. Merci Sylvie ! Aymeric s'y connaît très bien en cinéma, nous avons donc eu une conversation très intéressante sur la musique de film un soir. Merci de m'avoir prêté la collection de bandes dessinées modernes ainsi que les albums classiques d'Astérix que j'ai enfin pu lire en français. En parlant de gourmandises nous avons dégusté de délicieux dîners à chaque fois. J'ai savouré la pintade et d'autres plats que je n'avais jamais goûtés auparavant. Comme il y a des sentiers forestiers près de Pibrac, j'ai pris le temps d'explorer les environs et j'ai également fait un voyage en train jusqu'à Toulouse. Dans l'ensemble, ce fut une expérience très positive et je recommande vivement de séjourner chez Agustín et sa famille.
