    Hello from Lombok! :)

Rasymadi Foundation is a small community initiative in Lombok, Indonesia, created with a simple mission: to support local children through education and cultural exchange.

The story began with Dayat, a Lombok local who left his village at the age of 17 to work in Gili Islands. Like many young people from Lombok, he went there to improve his English and find better opportunities. After years of working different jobs, a life-changing encounter with a traveler inspired him to start his own tour business. That small beginning later grew into what is now known as Feel Lombok.

Together with his partner Hannah from England, they developed the business while keeping one important goal in mind: giving back to the local community.

From this dream, the English Club was born.

Dayat knew from personal experience how powerful learning English can be for young Indonesians. With Hannah’s support, they started offering free English classes for children in Dayat’s village. What started as a small activity has now grown into a learning program that reaches hundreds of children across several villages in Lombok.

Today, the Rasymadi Foundation focuses on supporting these English learning activities while creating opportunities for cultural exchange between local communities and volunteers from around the world.

Our volunteers mainly help with the English Club, where they assist children in practicing English in a fun and supportive environment. At the same time, volunteers are invited to experience the local culture by staying in the village, meeting local families, and participating in daily community life.

Beyond teaching, volunteers are also welcome to contribute their creativity and skills in areas such as social media, photography, art, design, or other small community projects that support the foundation’s development.

Our team is made up of passionate local members including Ayung, Rina, Adi, Silvi, Carolina, Nyoman, Memek, Amel, and Wayan, coming from both Muslim and Hindu communities in Central Lombok. Together, we work to create a welcoming space for learning, sharing cultures, and building meaningful connections.

Through Rasymadi Foundation, we hope to continue growing our education programs while working toward a bigger dream: creating a learning space where children can study languages and develop their future with confidence.

We warmly welcome volunteers who enjoy working with children, sharing cultures, and becoming part of our small community in Lombok.

One of the most special parts of volunteering with Rasymadi Foundation is the opportunity to experience the local way of life in Lombok. Our community is made up of both Muslim and Hindu villages, and volunteers will have the chance to interact with local families, children, and community members during their stay.
Through the English Club and daily activities, volunteers can learn about local traditions, food, language, and village life, while sharing their own culture and experiences with the community.
    Respecting Local Culture
We kindly ask volunteers to respect local customs while staying in the village.
When walking around the Muslim village or teaching in the English Club, volunteers are asked to wear modest clothing, such as:
T-shirts or shirts that cover the shoulders
    Long pants or skirts
This is a simple way to show respect for the local culture and community.
However, at the Basecamp or when visiting the Hindu village, the atmosphere is generally more relaxed and volunteers have more flexibility in how they dress.
By respecting each other’s cultures, we create a positive and comfortable environment for both volunteers and the local community.

Volunteers usually help around 1-2 hours per day, mainly supporting our learning activities with the children. You can contribute in one or more of the following ways:

    English Club Support (Main Activity)
Your main responsibility will be helping with our English Clubs, where children learn English in a fun and interactive environment. You do not need a teaching certificate—being comfortable with children and speaking English is enough.
Currently, around 400 children participate in our English program, which takes place in several learning locations across the village. The classes are divided into four levels (Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4) depending on the students’ abilities.
To help volunteers feel confident when teaching, we have prepared several teaching resources:
6-Months Curriculum to guide the learning progress
    Lesson Plans for each class
    Flashcards and learning materials
    Audio scripts and simple activities
Opening and closing songs to start and finish the class
All offline materials are stored in the foundation cabinet, organized by level so volunteers can easily find what they need before the class.
We also provide online access to teaching materials. Volunteers can scan the QR code provided in the volunteer handbook to access lesson plans, teaching guides, and additional resources.
    Volunteers are welcome to:
    Follow the lesson plan provided
Adapt the activities based on their teaching style
Create fun games or conversations to encourage students to practice English
Every six months we conduct a placement test to evaluate students and determine their learning level.
We know our program is still growing, and we truly appreciate volunteers who share ideas, feedback, or suggestions in our teaching logbook to help us improve the learning experience for the children.

    Creative & Media Support
If you enjoy photography, videography, or content creation, you can help us capture moments from our activities and create simple content for our social media and website.

    Digital & Technical Support
Volunteers with skills in web development, design, or digital tools are welcome to help us improve our website, online platforms, and communication materials.

    Community & Creative Projects
Volunteers sometimes help with creative activities such as painting, organizing games for children, improving learning spaces, or supporting small projects for the foundation.

    Environmental Awareness
If you are passionate about sustainability, you are welcome to help us raise awareness about environmental issues such as plastic waste and responsible tourism in the community.

What matters most is not professional experience, but your willingness to share, learn, and connect with the community. Every small contribution helps us continue supporting local children through education.

  • Alojamiento

    Alojamiento

Volunteers will stay at our Basecamp, a simple and friendly space located in the muslim village. The accommodation is a shared dormitory room with a maximum capacity of 4 people, allowing volunteers to connect, share experiences, and build friendships during their stay.

The facilities are simple but comfortable, designed to give volunteers a real experience of village life in Lombok.

    Room & Facilities
The dormitory includes basic sleeping arrangements and shared spaces for volunteers. Our basecamp also serves as a social area where volunteers can relax, have conversations, and spend time together after daily activities.

    Bathroom
Bathroom facilities follow local Indonesian style. You may find either:
    A Western-style toilet, or
A traditional squat toilet with a water bucket and tap
Hot water is usually not available, but many volunteers enjoy the refreshing experience of a traditional cold-water shower.

    Internet
Wi-Fi is available in some areas like where you stay in The Basecamp for work. We are continuously working to improve internet access in the village.

    Meals
Volunteers receive two meals per day: and cook together of breakfast and dinner. Meals are usually simple local dishes.

    Contribution
To support meals, volunteers are asked to contribute $7 USD per day.

    Nearby Facilities
The village is peaceful but still close to essential places. Within 5 minutes by scooter, you can find:
    Local warungs (small restaurants)
    Mini markets and local markets

    ATMs
For bigger facilities, Mataram city is about 25 minutes away, where you can find hospitals, immigration offices, shopping malls, and international restaurants. Popular travel destinations such as Bangsal Harbour and Kuta Lombok are about 1 hour away.

    Transportation
If you would like to explore Lombok during your free time, we can help you arrange motorbike rentals. Volunteers can also join group activities or trips organized by the team.

  • Algo más...

    Algo más...

After you contact us and confirm your interest in volunteering, we will send you a Volunteer Handbook containing more detailed information about the program, daily activities, accommodation, and facilities at the Rasymadi Foundation Basecamp.
    Transportation
Volunteers are responsible for arranging their own transportation to the village. The cost from Lombok International Airport or Bangsal Harbour to our village is usually around 250,000 IDR by taxi.
If you are traveling from Bali, you will first need to take a ferry or fast boat to Lombok, then continue by taxi to the village. Do not worry—we will be happy to help guide you through the travel process and suggest the best options.
    Island Life
Life in Lombok moves at a slower and more relaxed pace than in big cities. As islanders, we sometimes experience small delays or schedule changes, but we always do our best to organize activities and support our volunteers.
We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and open-minded spirit, as these qualities help create a wonderful experience for everyone involved.
