We stayed 3 weeks with Maria, Carl, Tommy and Maumau. Overall it was a great experience. The little studio was exactly as shown on the pictures. Tommy is a super cute dog and once maumau feels comfortable you will see him here and there running and pettting both of them (Tommy gets jealous if you only cuddle with the cat ;) ) we had a lovely dinner with Carl and Maria, thanks again for your delicious cooking Maria! and as Carl mentioned we did pizza in their beautiful oven with their friends, it was our first time baking pizza and foccacia in this pretty place and we are happy everyone liked it, thanks for the wine! Carl gave us really good explanation to each task and always available if you have questions. The place is remote but Carl and Maria were super friendly with us, giving us rides to the supermarket each week and also time to go around and see Comares and Velez Malaga and even ask us via Whatsapp if we need anything. Stunning views between the almond and olive trees and a quiet place where you have a clear view on the stars in the night, no noise at all from outside and peace. Thank you very much again for this unique experience and see you soon.

Me quedé dos semanas y media en casa de Gabriela y tuve una muy buena experiencia. Estaba trabajando 5 horas más o menos todas las mañanas, 5 días a la semana. El trabajo era físico y estaba un poco agotada cada vez que terminaba, ya que tenía los brazos en alto todo el tiempo por sacar la pintura vieja con un cuchillo o lijar le el techo, pero siempre con sonrisa. También estaba haciendo algo de mantenimiento del lugar, como limpiar una vez a la semana, así como las cacas de los perros en el patio. Sin embargo, la comunicación era siempre muy buena. Además, la comida posterior fue deliciosa (especialmente su pancito y muchísima gracias de haberme descubrido el manjar!) y mi tiempo en Valparaíso fue realmente genial. Gabriela me recomendó muchos lugares e incluso me envió dos listas de cosas que hacer. Yo era el único Workawayer durante mi estancia, pero hablábamos mucho de cada comida, a veces un poco demasiado también haha y conocer a su hija Sofía fue un gran punto culminante de mi viaje. Tuve la oportunidad de visitar donde ella estudió y pasar un tiempo con ella los fines de semana. También paso Halloween con ambos y con la familia de Gabriela y estoy muy agradecido por eso. Durante mi estancia, dormí en un cuarto privada, a veces con sus perros y la manera en la que Miro me despertara cada mañana fue tan bacan. El baño es compartido entre nosotros y tiene una vista super hermosa del océano. Además, Playa Ancha es un barrio muy tranquilo y seguro con hermosas casas y rodeado de bonitas vistas también. Muchas gracias Gabriela por todo, no puedo esperar a ver que todos tus proyectos se conviertan en realidad y cómo se verá la casa en unos años. Y me aseguraré de pasar de nuevo si tengo la oportunidad!

Yumemi was such a joy to have around the farm. With her wits and emotional intelligence she was so fast to adapt and to spread positivity and serenity. She was very much appreciated by everyone in the house even with language barriers, which says a lot about her energy! Yumemi was quick to offer support in many different ways and quickly understood where she needed to help, picked up tasks quickly and handled the challenges of working on the farm with the construction team asking for her help so gracefully. She also had fantastic organisational skills. Her love for hammams and local village culture was really wonderful to see as well, soaking up the cultural exchange aspect with curiosity and respect. We would have loved to have her for longer, but more adventures were calling her name, so hopefully we will see you again in the future! Maybe so you can host a pottery workshop… :) lots of love Yumemi <3 thanks for your presence.

I spent two wonderful weeks at Marian's place. She is a very kind and welcoming person who made me feel at home from the first day. The work mainly involved gardening, which was clear and enjoyable. Marian also took the time to show me the island, introduce me to her family and friends, and involve me in activities within her local community. I also had plenty of free time to explore the area by bike. It was a great experience, and I would highly recommend staying with her.

My experience here was truly wonderful. The farm is truly a fairytale, peaceful place, cared for down to the smallest details. The entire Munirh family—Abdul, Ella, Fizi, and little Faleel—were each invaluable to me. Despite my limited English, I had no trouble communicating, understanding each other beyond words. Munirh, with her sweet smile, was always attentive and thoughtful to every need, both food (she shared delicious food with us every day) and any other needs, with kindness and thoughtfulness. Abdul, with his wisdom and understanding for every new thing taught and also explained curiosity, Fizi and Ella, hardworking, welcoming and ready to resolve any doubts, and little Faleel with his joy and kindness, a wonderful presence. The chores every morning with the chickens, geese and chicks and then the meadow, everything never burdensome and so many new things learned, relaxing by the river, tasting the fruits, the market, so many varieties of food... and so much more. An immersive and exciting experience. I felt like part of family. Thank you, I hope to see you again soon. PS I carry with me the sign of your affection. 🙏✨️

Had an amazing time staying at his place. If you are looking for a rural unfiltered experience of Zimbabwe this is the place to be! His family and wife are also very sweet. The local community is also very welcomming. Was a great first workaway experience and I will definitly come back when I travel to Zimbabwe again.

Ni siquiera sé por dónde empezar. Este Workaway ha sido el mejor que he hecho. Desde el primer momento en que llegué a las cabañas me sentí súper cómoda y bienvenida como si fuera parte de su familia. Me quedé 2 semanas y me hubiera encantado quedarme mucho más tiempo. Coni y Justin son súper amables, y me lo pasé muy bien en sus compañías. Lo único triste es que no estuvieron aquí durante una semana debido a razones familiares, sin embargo, también lo pasé super bien con Magy! Durante mi primera semana, el trabajo consistió en pintar algunas paredes de una cabaña con material natural, llamado Clay y Cal. Y mi segunda semana, trabajé en su gran y hermoso jardín, sacando, cortando y ordenando las ramas, además de darles una forma. Durante mi estancia, dormí en un cuarto privado donde también tenía un baño privado frente a su casa. Todas las comidas se prepararon y servieron en su hermosa casa, y estaban absolutamente deliciosas. Coni y Justin se aseguraron de que siempre estuviera cómoda y me recomendaron muchos lugares para ir. Y también me llevaron a su lugar favorito donde tuve la suerte de ver un show impresionante de su profesor de baile. Pisco Elqui es el lugar más tranquilo en el que he estado, y quedarme en las cabañas lo hizo aún mejor, ya que la mayor parte de mi tarde pude relajarme junto a la piscina disfrutando de una vista increíble de los Andes y contemplando las estrellas todas las noches durante horas. Esta experiencia fue realmente increíble gracias a Coni y Justin, la dejé con muchos recuerdos y siempre la recordaré con una gran sonrisa

I spent a month this year with Mati and Moon, teaching yoga and helping with general tasks like cooking and preparing breakfast. It was such an enriching experience! The retreat center is beautiful — completely surrounded by nature and within walking distance of the beach. I loved teaching in the beautiful yoga shala, immersed in nature. I led 90-minute classes, adapting to the energy of the group, guiding Hatha Yoga flows, Yin Yoga, and Yoga Nidra. Mati and Moon were amazing hosts. They were very welcoming and always made sure that we felt good and comfortable. I met so many wonderful people there — other Workawayers and guests — and had lots of deep, meaningful conversations. The food was incredible. Mati is a great cook! In our free time, Mati often took us and the guests to the nearby town or to the beach, where we tried slacklining and Acro Yoga together. Thank you so much, Mati and Moon. I truly hope to come back one day 🤍

This was our very first Workaway experience, and we couldn’t have wished for a more beautiful place. We spent a total of 9 weeks with Salvatore and Emanuela – all of July and August – and from the very beginning we were welcomed with open arms and quickly felt at home. Our main tasks included feeding the animals in the morning and evening, cleaning the stables and the yard, sorting trash, and pruning olive trees. From time to time, we also looked after their two children. The language barrier was a bit of a challenge at first, but you quickly find creative ways to communicate (and pick up a few Italian words along the way 😉). The only negative thing - the description says: 4 days work, but you will have to work 5. Two days are free, but of course the animals need to be fed everyday of the week and because of this we never had a day completely free - which can be really exhausting. Every now and then, Salvatore gave us riding lessons, and once he even took us to watch a western competition. We had a lot of fun with him – you won’t find a funnier person in Sicily. Both he and Emanuela were caring and thoughtful hosts. We were often invited to share meals together, and had the best homemade Pizza! The farm is located outside the city, yet within just a ten-minute walk you’ll find a shopping center and several restaurants. But, if you are not mobile it's a little hard to reach different places. The accommodation was nice and we had everything we needed. In summer however it was really hot and with no air conditioning almost unbearable. But - that's summer in sicily! We had a wonderful stay and can wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone! 😊 We hope to visit again in the near future!

Saskia and Pavel are very interesting and intelligent people and working for them has been an honor as they also taught me many things I didn’t know, how to for example take care of newborn puppies. So overall it was a great experience and I would certainly want to do it again. My work consisted of physical labour tasks, caring for the animals and kitchen help. What I particularly enjoyed was the off grid experience which in itself was unique. Thanks a lot guys, for hosting me and certainly see you soon!

I’m glad to have had my first WA experience at Sophie’s. I felt lucky and at home during my 6 weeks stay. It has been very much a pleasant time. Sophie is a very honest and welcoming host, well organized and prepared, but also flexible. Sharing as many moments with her is a key part of the stay (respecting each other space and time). Most of the comments already offer details about staying here, naturism, landscape, nature and wildlife all true. I will add extra below. Job: tasks can be various according to the priority list, always well planned and explained, no job will be above skills limits. I suggest to speak clearly about personal DIY skills, do not pretend to know but also adopt a “can do” attitude and enjoy the tasks (as I did), the result will speak for itself. There’s a lot to learn if you keen. Caravan: it’s very nice and cozy, if kept clean and well look after will be appreciated by the next guest. During winter I suggest to spare no warm clothes in your luggage. Overall it was a great experience that opens to me new doors for personal growth and future adventures. I believe Sophie is one of the best host this platform can offer, especially if it’s your first time. Thanks Sophie, I will always remember our laughs, walks with Malu and Canelita and everything else we have shared in this time.

I really loved my time here. It’s a community of kind, collaborative, and generous people who are genuinely committed to co-living, cooperation, and conscious ways of being together. From the moment I arrived, I felt at ease and truly welcome. It was deeply inspiring to witness a group of people actively choosing to live more cooperatively and in connection with nature. I loved working alongside Dirk on renovating an old apartment and contributing in a small way to the community’s growth. What stood out most was how quickly my nervous system relaxed, a real testament to the care and energy the community has cultivated. Every person I met made me feel appreciated and included. I was especially grateful to take part in the Friday evening process, which included a conscious sharing circle and community meeting, full of humour, openness, and meaningful conversation. I also loved all the delicious food and hanging out in the communal spaces, like the meditative space and community kitchen. Dirk did a wonderful job coordinating my time and helping me feel part of the community from the very beginning. It was a grounding, nourishing experience that I’ll carry with me. Thank you for having me and I look forward to returning!

These last 3 weeks were our first experience in Workaway... And what an experience! Fernando’s finca is a haven of peace, thanks to its beautiful nature and especially thanks to the state of mind in which Fernando takes care of it. Here everything is adapted to the surrounding environment, and it works very well. If you pass by there, for sure, you will learn a lot of things, market gardening, construction... And also to slow down. Live to the rhythm of your surroundings. Fernando is an amazing host, available despite his workload, and attentive. He is also a super chef! He will teach you many things, near or far, that’s for sure. In any case, we leave this beautiful place full of good memories, beautiful encounters and with a calm mind. Daphnée est très gentil, efficace et sympathique, j'avais l'impression d'avoir eu ma petite nièce à la maison. Elle est venu m'aider sur mes projets, et tout c'est fait naturellement. Nous avons aussi préparé les décorations de noël, cela a était un plaisir de passer un moment ensemble. Nous avons partagé des soirées UNO a bien tricher et rire. Cela a mis de l'animation à la maison. Merci d'être passé à la maison, merci pour ton coup de main, Continue bien tes projets.

Sara was generously informing the community each time she would go to Cartagena for in case we needed anything. Sara did her tasks seriously and honestly which is important to me, always on time and always happy with whatever task I gave her. She was offering help easily. No big issues. Sara is a discreet, polite and respectful person. As a conclusion, if you are looking for someone to give you a hand, you will be totally satisfied. For a variety of reasons, I highly recommend that she has her own entire living space.

I consider the time I got to spend with Toni a real privilege. He was my first Workaway host and I'm not sure any other hosts will live up to the wonderful experience and connection we had. The accomodation comes with a stunning view & ample space, the work was well varried (3 days at the country house gardening, 1 day painting and 1 day helping at the school) though I'm sure Toni would adapt the work schedule depending on the workawayer's temperament. I loved the work itself, it was all very rewarding and a nice balance of interaction/hard labour. Toni himself was an excellent communicator from the start and made it clear that my wellbeing was always a top priority, and I really felt that. we were fortunate enough to connect at a really special level and I'll be making sure to come back and visit him in the future. To Toni the cultural exchange and connection is as important as the work itself. I would recommend that the prospective Workawayer has the same philosophy for the best match. we ate very well and shared cooking/cleaning easily. Toni's very active and loves to have someone around to encourage him to get out and about for swims, runs, hikes, bikes and exploration. I'm going to miss Toni's bright, inquisitive & inviting energy very much. thanks for such a brilliant journey Toni, I loved helping each other learn about ourselves over the two months. talk soon.

This wonderful couple with big hearts gave us great help with the olive harvest and other little tasks. It was a real pleasure to host them and to be a small part of their honeymoon :) They are very kind, considerate, polite, and well-organized. Wishing them all the best! <3

I had a crazy wonderful time here. apart from being one of the most beautiful hostel I was in I made deep connections with the staff and the other volunteers and had the opportunity to work in a great environnement, make many new friendship and really discover Santiago.

Felix is one of our youngest volunteers, joining us in late October 2025 for six weeks, and he quickly became a valued part of our team. He takes direction exceptionally well and consistently follows through with tasks and responsibilities. Whenever you give Felix an instruction, he responds immediately, with enthusiasm and commitment. He is naturally curious and loves learning about people, their backgrounds, and different cultures. His inquisitive nature, combined with his explorative spirit, brings a refreshing energy to our hostel. Felix also has a vibrant, competitive drive and shows great potential in athletic or active pursuits. If he continues down that path, he could excel remarkably. Felix is incredibly sweet, positive, and easygoing. He gets along with everyone and forms friendships effortlessly, creating a welcoming and upbeat atmosphere wherever he goes. His ability to connect with people so easily is one of his strongest qualities, and honing those interpersonal skills will allow him to grow into an even more confident and capable young adult. As he continues to grow, we believe Felix can benefit from expressing himself a little more openly and taking small steps toward showing more confidence in group settings. He has wonderful instincts, and trusting those instincts will help him build strong leadership skills over time. He’s still very young, and these skills naturally develop with experience, but he already has the foundation to grow into a confident, inspiring leader. We are grateful for the joy and energy Felix brought to our hostel and are excited to see the person he becomes in the years ahead.
