I spent some wonderful days in Barum with the most amazing people, Lisa and Tore, and their two lovely children. As it was my first time in Germany, and my first destination after four days of traveling, they made me feel incredibly welcome and like part of the family from the very beginning. I am truly grateful for their kindness, generosity, and hospitality. Thank you for making my first experience in Germany so special. ❤️

We really enjoyed hosting Calvin. This was his first Workaway experience, and he was a very pleasant and respectful guest in our home, and a diligent worker in the yard. Calvin was with us for 5 days, and during that time he split a great load of firewood, even though it was his first real time doing this task. Slow and steady wins the race! Not many people last the full duration, especially if they haven’t done it much before, cause it’s not an easy job. Plus, he left the yard neat and tidy. It was fun talking with him over meals and hanging out together, watching movies. We’re both grateful that he chose us in the Blue Mountains, and wish him all the best for his travels in the southern hemisphere. I highly recommend Calvin to other hosts.

There was a lack of communication in terms of next steps so I didn’t do a last minute cancellation I just did not attend because I won’t go anywhere without full information

In May/June 2026 i spent with Anna 2 great weeks. Her brick old house and beautiful large garden looked like Tuscany magic. Communication with Anna was always very good, and she was very nice to me. More like a friend than a host. She took me one time to Trasimeno lake or a festival in Bettolle. During my time i was also able to visit Siena and beautiful Montepulciano which i recommed visiting to everyone. 🙂

Nik is one of the kindest, most thoughtful people you could wish to meet. He took a genuine interest in everything that we are doing here and was constantly asking questions to fill gaps in his knowledge. He immediately synced in with the family, especially the kids, as well as other Workawayers, and it was a real pleasure to host him here. He worked fine either by himself or in a team, mainly clearing land for tree planting and then getting the actual trees into the ground, putting tree guards around them, working on difficult terrain. Nik gets a full 5-star rating, highly recommended!

My very first Workaway experience was with Freya and David, and I’m absolutely pleased with my choice. I had a great time on the farm – I learnt a lot and found it a very pleasant place to work – and I got on really well with Freya. I wish I could have stayed longer, but even in just a week and a half, this stay has already impacted me. Freya, thank you for everything and hopefully we’ll meet again in the future. 5 stars!!

Pei is an amazing person. She is a bundle of energy and creativity, and she is able to master so many things. On a typical day with Pei, you can see her painting, drawing, working with clay or wood, singing, or playing the ukulele. She is always in a good mood and brings the perfect vibes; she is very friendly and can connect with anyone without even speaking the same language. Pei will be always welcome here ♥️

Staying here was LITERALLY like a dream. I really enjoyed their doggies, natural pool, and village. Ines is the best host mom you could ask for, if/when you stay there you are in the best of hands. We formed a great bond and she even introduced me to her fun friends. I felt very welcomed and accepted here, and I was also able to practice and improve my spanish, which was one of my main goals. During my time here I also went to nearby towns and madrid center, all is very doable with the bus stop being so close to their house. Overall my stay was fantastic and I highly recommend visiting Ines in Nuevo Batzan

Aquí es un encantador hostal, pequeño, acogedor, donde realmente me senti en casa mientras hacia el voluntariado.... Camila y Christian estan siempre atentos, buscan que los voluntarios se sientan lo mejor posible, el intercambio es justo. Ademas el hostal esta muy bien ubicado en San Telmo y hay mucho por hacer... Recomiendo totalmente esta experiencia de voluntariado. Muchas gracias 🤗❤️

ho passato due mesi con cami e la sua famiglia e dal primo giorno mi sono sentita a casa. per la prima volta nella mia esperienza di volontariato non mi sono sentita solo come una "volontaria", ma come parte integrante della famiglia. cami è senza dubbio la host migliore incontrata finora, non solo è in grado di creare un ambiente lavorativo sano e comunicativo, ma ti fa sentire come un suo pari. i suoi genitori, i suoi fratelli e tutte le persone che lavorano al campeggio sono tra le più accoglienti mai incontrate e in poco tempo mi sono sentita parte di una grande famiglia. grazie all'energia di cami il lavoro non mi è mai sembrato faticoso o stancante, né l'ho percepito come un lavoro, ma come un'occasione per imparare e scoprire cose su un mondo che desideravo conoscere. cami non solo era sempre presente con noi durante le ore lavorative, ma ci includeva nel processo, spiegandoci quello che stavamo facendo e perché. da questa esperienza porto un bagaglio culturale nuovo e ampliato e un bellissimo ricordo. spero di tornare presto a trovarvi!

Jackson was an absolute pleasure to host. He is a warm, friendly and highly communicative young man who quickly became part of the daily life of our home. He approached every task with responsibility, dedication and a positive attitude, always willing to help and always carrying out his work to a very high standard. Beyond the work itself, Jackson is easy-going, sociable and genuinely enjoyable to live with. He brought great energy to the house and got along wonderfully with everyone around him. We would not hesitate for a second to recommend him to any future host. We feel very lucky to have met him and he will always be welcome here. Thank you, Jackson, for everything you contributed during your stay. We hope our paths cross again one day!

Sriram is a sincere and hardworking volunteer. He learns quickly, follows instructions well, and did an excellent job helping us with weed whacking and outdoor maintenance. His positive attitude, joyful personality, and easy-going nature contributed to a harmonious and productive environment. Sriram consistently showed willingness to help wherever needed and carried out his tasks with care and responsibility. We greatly appreciate his contribution and would be happy to welcome him back in the future.

I spent 8 days volunteering with Pat, Jean Pierre and Steven here and couldn't speak higher of the experience. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with respect and care and made to feel very comfortable in their living space. I was explained what was expected of me very clearly and shown around the property - this helped me settle into my stay seamlessly. It's evident that here they genuinely care about their guests. The hands-on work suited me perfectly. I worked for approx. 4-5 hours per day, gardening, cleaning, maintaining the forest, helping with the weekend's guests, etc. The balance of work and free time was great, leaving time for enjoying the serenity of their property, reading, cooking, hanging out with the pets, and more. Their home is beautiful. A perfect disconnect from high energy city life which I was seeking. I also valued being exposed to listening to and practicing speaking Spanish during my 8 days. We shared some nice conversations at the lunch table and over the weekend with Pat and Jean Pierres guests. Pat, Jean Pierre and Steven are all great, intelligent people and I will think back on my time spent here fondly. Highly recommend !!!

Luc is a quiet young man, he arrived on time and kept in touch on his journey here. He did some brilliant strimming work for us, he knew just what to do and just got on with it. We had some good conversation with him as well as some competitive and lively card games. He was fully immersed with our dogs which was nice to see and he took them out for long walks, enjoyed by Luc and the dogs. He also enjoyed the feeding and cleaning routines of our animal collection. He was very diligent.

We had a wonderful two weeks at Danielle's place, which is truly nature's paradise. Danielle is an enthusiastic teacher, and her love and knowledge of her horses is inspiring. We became very fond of the horses, who we helped to walk, brush, feed, and move between the grass fields. The place is peaceful with lots of birdlife and lush forests, and we enjoyed going for afternoon walks and bike rides through the surrounding countryside. Thank you Danielle for sharing your knowledge and home with us!

Margot and Kjell are exceptionally warm and generous hosts. From the very first moment, we felt welcome and part of the family. Communication was open and easy, the tasks were interesting and varied, and we were given a great deal of trust and freedom in carrying out the projects. We especially appreciated the time spent together, talking and playing games. Another highlight was the fantastic food, from traditional Swedish home cooking to special local delicacies, every meal was a pleasure. We can highly recommend a stay with Margot and Kjell to any Workawayer looking for genuine hospitality, interesting projects, and an authentic insight into Swedish life. I had an amazing experience with Glynn and Julie on their farm! This was my first Workaway and I was a bit nervous on my first day, but they made me feel right at home and always made sure I had enough to eat and was happy with my living conditions and the food I was getting. I enjoyed all the work that I was doing. They always try to give you jobs that play towards your strengths and never give you anything that you don't feel comfortable doing. I really enjoyed the daily routine and getting to spend time with all of their lovely dogs.I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to learn new skills while also having fun during the weekends and weeknights!

My stay with Helen was my very first Workaway experience, and I am really happy that I chose her as my first host. Helen is a kind, patient, and funny person who made me feel welcome from the beginning. She was always willing to explain things, and I learned a lot during my stay. I appreciated how patient she was with me. One of the highlights was spending time together outside of work as well. We played games, shared many conversations, and had lots of laughs. Helen is also a great cook. I also have to mention her lovely dog, Pepa, who was such a sweet companion during our stay (I had my dog with me). Overall, this was a wonderful first Workaway experience. I learned many new things, met great people, and created lovely memories. Thank you, Helen, for everything!! <3

Ayelen, you are such a sweetheart. We enjoyed having you with us so much. We had a lot of fun, even though things at our place are not always completely stress-free. You and Florence helped us so much, and we are so happy that we had you here with us. You are always welcome at our place, and we will always be your German home. It was also so beautiful to see how you explored the world from here and how you connected with our horses. Even the people I connected you with for work are still speaking so highly of you. I truly hope that all your wishes and plans come true. You deserve it. We miss you very much. Every time we are cooking here in the kitchen and a Latin song comes on, we think of you. Sending lots of love and warm greetings from all of us here, and from everyone else in the village too. I can Highly Recommend her as a Workawayer and a sun for your home and Farm.

Júlia stayed with us for more than a month. Originally, she was only supposed to stay for ten days, but fortunately for us, she decided to extend her stay. During several periods of our absence, Júlia looked after our home and our animals with exceptional care, responsibility, and attention to detail. We always felt completely confident that everything – and especially our dog – was in the very best hands. Thanks to her, we were able to fully relax and truly enjoy our holidays without any worries. The time we spent together was equally wonderful. Júlia is a warm-hearted, kind, positive, and life-loving person who brings great energy wherever she goes. It was a real joy to have her in our home. She carried out all her tasks with great dedication and care, worked extensively in the garden, and continued to take excellent care of our animals throughout her stay. On top of that, she enriched our days with her music, which was a very special gift. We can wholeheartedly recommend Júlia to any future host. She is a truly wonderful person and an outstanding Workawayer. Thank you, Júlia, for everything!
