We are a non profit Spiritual Ecological Center aiming to be of service to the surrounding community with Meditation retreats as well as social service projects.
The resident project manager is a meditation practitioner and teacher.
We are located in Penn Valley, near the South Yuba River State Park and occupy a 20 acres of land, mostly covered with oak forest. We have a small creek passing through our land and a developing garden. From our Ashram, in 10 minutes walk, we can reach the longest covered wooden bridge of USA and a lovely recreation area to chill out in the hot summer days: all around you can find also many different trails with different kind of difficulty levels as well as duration, so giving such a big choice for every training and expectations. There is monthly bird watching organized by the nearby State Park and a huge variety of wild life around such as wild turkeys, deers, bold eagle, robins, hares, skunks, California quails, coyotes, mountain lions, bears, etc.
The nearest city (Grass Valley) is 12 miles away: the closest supermarket is 6,5 miles away as well as the public transportation.
We maintain a healthy life style, including a vegetarian healthy diet. Only vegetarian food is served on our premises and it is a requirement that the volunteers while they are in our compound, working with us, refrain from smoking and using any alcohol or drugs.
Food and accommodation are provided, as well as meditation classes if interested.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

Work at the Ashram change according to need.
Generally we need help for cutting and store fire wood as well as indoor maintenance and cleaning. Pruning trees, help in the garden/planting and trimming weeds.
In Summer the main work is to make the place safe from fire hazard (mainly cutting grass, weeding, limbing trees, clean the surrounding areas) and maintain the vegetable garden, watering, picking fruits and processing them for winter. Landscaping, plumbing, carpentering are also needed all year long.
We need help with:
- weeding vegetable garden and rose garden (all summer)
- weed whacking around the houses (from May to June)
- chopping/splitting trees (some fallen trees in our land and fire wood for winter) (all summer and autumn)
- building: improve our front yard by building a stone stair + wooden structure in the vegetable garden
- small carpenter work: inside and outside the houseIdiomas hablados

Alojamiento
common room for women (6 beds), common room for men (4 beds). According to the period, double room for one or two couple can be arranged. Guests will have to cook for themselves. There is no Wi-fi/internet in the residence for guests.

In summer the weather can be very hot, so please remember to bring sun protection cream, hat, etc. In some spot around the Ashram there are poison oak trees that can give irritation: we suggest to bring long-pants and closed-toed shoes for work. And remember that we share the property with wildlife, including rattlesnakes and ticks.
Don't miss to bring your swimming suite for a refreshing jump in the near river!
We are looking for caring people, who can share our dreams and try to make the Ashram sustainable and transform it into a community. We would like to develop it into a medical care center, where people can come to find a stress-pollution-capitalistic detox area. We care for a development of a human being in the 3 aspect of life as physical, mental and spiritual.Un poco más de información
