Yukiko came to my house on January 8th -26 and left on April 1st -26. Her job at my house was to help with housework and yard work. There wasn't much snow this winter, so she didn't have to do much snow work. This winter was very cold. In addition to the electric stove, I also have a wood stove, which we used daily during the cold months. Yukiko made sure that there was always firewood inside. She also did the weekly cleaning and helped with the shopping. We cleaned the windows together and managed to do some yard work. She enjoyed to relax in the the sauna and was very interested in Finnish culture. I can warmly recommend her to others and give her a full 5 stars.

I stayed at Tonys apartment for only one week and i wish i could have stayed longer! The dog Crosby and the cats Tom and Rosie were lovely! Crosby was very well trained and never barked! The cats were super cuddely and talkative haha. I had many cozy moments with them. Sometimes i would play on the piano and all three of them would gather round, very cute. The apartment is big and very beautiful. There is a well equipped kitchen, tatami living room, a big balcony with a rocking chair, nice bathroom with bathtub/shower. I met Tony a couple times in the evenings after he had finished work. He was very friendly and we had great conversations! He also shared local spots for me to visit which i greatly appriteated! (Note that you might not see him for a couple days since he is sometimes very busy) The work was very easy, I enjoyed cleaning the bathroom tiles - very satysfying! Although there were not many cleaning materials. Me and my roomate got some new things for the next volunteers to come! (Tony paid for it). Also the vaccum did not have a proper long pipe so you had to walk folded/crouch when vaccuming. Tony told me i could focus on cleaning other things instead! So he is a good problem solver and extremly kind. Hopefully it will be fixed soon for the next volunteers! Walking Crosby was very fun, he is very clever and knows many commands! Also many locals wanted to say hi and talk to me. Kumamoto is a great city and the apartment is really close to a bus stop aswell as a train station so it is easy to get around! It was only about 30 min to get to central kumamoto. I highly recommend going to Kumamoto Prefectural Traditional Crafts Center and Kumamoto castle. The nature is beautiful, there are multiple parks and lots of cherry blossom which i was lucky to wittness. This experience was perfect and the communication was clear. My expectations were met and exceeded! If you love animals and want to explore yourself and meet locals, i couldnt recommend this enough! If you have any questions feel free to DM me on instagram @lovinabernsson_master. (I might not stay active on this app) Thank you so much Tony for hosting me I will be eternally grateful!!

Writing this review means that my Workaway experience with Heather is really over, and I have been in denial for a few days after coming home that this indeed the case. This was my first Workaway experience and I had no expectations, but yet, she blew my expectations out of the water. Heather is generous and hospitable; her property is lovely; the accomodations were very comfortable; and the work was rewarding. In a world that is fast paced and unrelenting, Heather and her property (and her pup!) are a breath of authentic fresh air. Expect down to earth, deep conversations, honest gardening work, and plenty of laughter (mostly around the sometimes untimely, friendly, orderless, 'toots' and 'burps' of hers haha! - she told me to put this in here lol). We met each other as strangers, but we parted ways as friends. :) If you are looking for a true retreat and are not afraid to get your hands dirty and work on your cardio (her property is on a hillside!), then Heather's workaway is perfect for you! She is definitely deserving of whatever help you can provide.

We had a lovely stay with Sharyn and Jason and their adorable dog Sydney. They live an hour’s drive from Cradle Mountain, surrounded by nature in a very charming house. We spent two days hiking in Cradle Mountain and two days mainly doing gardening and cleaning. We highly recommend this experience, particularly for their kindness and the lovely conversations we had.

Good Trip my broo!!

We had a wonderful experience hosting Tessa for three weeks at our homeschool academy. She was very proactive and responsible from the very beginning, always willing to jump in and support wherever needed. Tessa assisted with lessons and also led volleyball sessions, which the students truly enjoyed. She connected very well with the students, showing patience, kindness, and strong communication skills. Her positive attitude made a noticeable impact on both the learning environment and the overall atmosphere. Additionally, she was very respectful of the accommodation and shared spaces, keeping everything clean and well-organized throughout her stay. We would be very happy to host Tessa again and highly recommend her to other hosts!

We had awesome time with Camille, Felix, Jana and Frieda ! We felt very welcomed and part of the family after our week in Nowra. We had plenty occasions to exchange on many subjects and share experiences (cooking, family time, even rock climbing with the girls !) We really enjoyed our stay here and we will miss all the family !

When I first read the profile, I thought: „This sounds far too good to be true. Must be a scam or something.“ After staying with Sam on his boat, alongside two other workawayers, I can confirm: it is that good! We spent a beautiful two weeks in the region of Bocas del Torro. Mostly we stayed in a marina but also went for adventurous explorations to the surounding islands. I highly appreciate Sam opening up his home to us and being a patient teacher when it comes to improving sailing skills. I left with a bunch of good memories of fun times and enriching talks with Sam and the other crew members. Next time I hope we can get some more work done though ^^ Thank you so much! Lena

Marie, thank you so much for answering our 'last minute' listing post. It felt like grace that it should work perfectly for you too as you explored our eastern coast line in early March. We appreciated your positivity and easy going nature fitting perfectly into our family environment from the get go. It was a really stressful time for me and yet you were just lovely with your quiet steady support in the home, with the kids and our gardening and DIY projects. We wish you all the very best as you continue to venture forwards walking through and discovering your next steps in life. We are certain you will do good in which ever capacity that is. Warmest regards from us all.

Just finding a way to express our sincerest gratitude and appreciation for hosting Max and Laurence. These guys are so motivated, inspiring, clever and fun to be around. At some point in their 10 day stay we started referring to them as our wish fulfilling genies. We had some difficult problems and time consuming projects that needed a determined attitude and problem solving minds. These two had at them and managed to repair lawn mowers, bicycles, walls, drain ways, along side some dedicated weeding and scrumptious joy in the kitchen. They inspired us with their passion for rock climbing (which there is ample of around here). A highlight was them taking myself and kids out to a site and encouraging us to climb safely. We all wish you both an incredible journey forwards, always reaching new heights and are excited about your next chapter planned for your home journey. Thank you again!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here with P and Stuart! They are great company, great hosts and great cooks! We felt very welcome and comfortable here and really enjoyed getting the opportunity to explore the vineyard and learn more about wine. There is lots to do around the Motueka area, so there were plenty of options for entertainment in our time off. We hope to visit again with family and engage in their official wine tasting tour.

It was our absolute pleasure to host Maddy. She made an excellent contribution to garden projects and with cooking meals and preserving produce. She happily participated in any activities we were doing and quickly became a welcome part of the household. Maddy has a lot of great skills that could be applied to many sorts of projects, including leadership, planning, problem solving and working collaboratively. We highly recommend her to any future workaway hosts.

Marta was one of our favorite volunteers in a long time, if not of all time! A+ all around, very intelegent and strong like bull never complaining about anything. The type of worker you tell one time and consider it done, we felt like I never had to check up on anything. Being a coffee lover made her a passionate picker and preocessor. No one will take care of the coffee with such care and devotion as Marta did. We were devestated when it was time for her to go. Hosts, consider yourselves lucky if she messages you for a volunteer opportunity. Please come back soon!

A wonderful family! What better way to start my Yukon adventure than by spending a month with Adam, Alison, the girls, and the furry members of the family: Jack and Kallie. My experience was very positive and enjoyable. The tasks were varied and simple: cleaning and organising the house, playing with and taking care of the girls, and also looking after the dogs. Honestly, nothing that could really be called "work"- the girls are so lovely!! And the dogs are adorable!!. They always made sure I felt comfortable in my studio (which was amazing) and that I had the best possible experience in the Yukon. Highly recommended!! Thank you so much, Alison and Adam!!

Ellie stayed with us for three weeks and during that time was a beam of energy and support around the home and garden. She is confident, open-minded, clever, resourceful, studious, quiet, noisy, fun, serious, hard-working, relaxed and just all-round a fabulous person to have in one's life! We communicated well and honestly about any concerns, or requirements/wishes and discussed 'hot topics' with mutual respect and an attitude of care and openness to learning. She's a very mature young person in many ways, reflecting deeply and looking for opportunities to expand her knowledge of self and others. Ellie's cooking is fabulous - one could say a she's 'bake-aholic?!' but don't pigeonhole her into the kitchen; this gal has many talents and interests. She did weeding, animal care, cleaning and odd jobs around the place, with equal zest and accomplishment. Don't hesitate to offer/request a range of duties! May you enjoy Ellie's lovely company and help - highly recommended Workawayer :-))

Rhonal stayed at our farm twice! It was an honour to host Rhonal. The first time he came with his friends and stayed for a week. He helped with making a fence around our raspberrries. Thanks to Rhonal, this boring and fysical job became fun, he arranged for some music. In the evening we played card games and learned local dances and played music. Rhonal is a great guitar player and we found out he is actually a designer and an artist! So we were lucky he came back and we are proud to have a real 'Roni' on our wall. He made a huge mural on a wall under the hangar. It was in the middle of winter and very cold but he continued anyway. He is very gifted and a wonderful person and we would love to see Roni again some day.

Although for the most part I enjoyed this experience, I wish I had more direction from management and more enforcement with our duties. I connected with a lot of interesting people, but overall there needs to be more community here. It feels like everyone just wants to lounge, and there wasn’t really a Caribbean feel. There are also too many volunteers at once, you only need like three, and they should be friendlier and more engaging. It is very, very, very chill here. I’m used to working for my worth, so just know I didn’t take anything for granted. They are VERY generous, and you can really do whatever you want. The work itself is SUUUUUUPER easy. You WILL be BORED. If you are an active person with a fun personality, this is not the place. Also, my expensive workout bra was taken from my cabin. I asked the laundry ladies in Spanish if they saw it, and they looked at me like, “Why tf are you talking to me?” They had a nasty attitude with me for no reason, even though I was always polite and thanked them. I don’t understand why it was taken in the first place, especially since I didn’t even put it in the laundry. Victor told me they lose items all the time and mix up bags regularly, which is clearly an issue. He did reimburse me, but there needs to be a general manager handling situations like this. Someone needs to be in charge. Overall, this isn’t a very welcoming place. No one is friendly at first, though I understand it takes time for people to open up. The servers and bartenders are hardworking, and I built good relationships with them over time. The overall vibe just felt off. I also think the volunteers you’re with make the experience, and we just didn’t connect, which is fine, but many of them acted like guests at the lodge. I wish there was more warmth and kindness, but everyone seems stuck in their own world. The culture is very different from what I’m used to. Regardless, you have to make your own fun.

I had a great experience teaching here. The institute is located in Tunja, a smaller city 2 hours north of Bogotá. Tunja is incredibly safe and very walkable. I enjoyed the pace of life in Tunja and found it quite comfortable. The people are so friendly too. My teaching experience was also great. Every week, you are given a schedule that includes the time of your classes and the topics to be taught. You have the full freedom to create a lesson plan and teach the class however you want. I typically had classes on weekdays from 5:30 - 7pm. On Saturdays, I taught morning classes. I also taught online classes occasionally. I had a lot of free time and never felt that the work was too much. The students are of all ages (but generally adolescent to young adult) and are very respectful. The staff is incredible. Laura does a good job of ensuring that the volunteers are well adjusted and get to experience Colombian culture. She took me and another volunteer to the Puente de Boyaca and also to try Colombian fruit salads. Overall, if you are looking to gain some experience in teaching/education and want to live in a calm and safe Colombian city, then I highly recommend this opportunity.

Álvaro & Irene are a warm hearted couple. Keen to be helpful and quick to learn anything they don't know, they give a lot of enthusiasm to whatever they're doing. They travelled all the way from the other side of the Iberian peninsular on their impressive motorbike and are keen to experience new things. I appreciated their easy going natures and quirky sense of humour (that matched my own). If you take these guys on you'll be glad you did.
