Hello Workawayers / Volunteers,
We are an educational institution providing education to the children belonging to the indigenous people coming from lower income families in rural area of the Northeastern state of Tripura, India. the school was established in 1974 .
The school was established in order to provide English education to the indigenous people of Tripura. It is a residential school with 210 intake capacity both boys and girls. The school is located on the Baramura Hill Range and covered with bamboos and trees.
Our school/projects provide an opportunity for young people to experience a lifestyle based around the simple philosophy of doing rather than talking and fixing rather than complaining. As a volunteer here you can assist the students in their daily activities or help with the projects that the school has initiated like a fishery project, rubber plantation, organic vegetable gardening, horticulture, construction, etc. This will also give an opportunity to learn the traditions and culture of the locals. On weekends get the chance to trek in the forest and camping.
The school's owner and founder, Late Mr. Dulal Hrangkhawl has lived in this area for most of his life. He was a visionary man and social minded person. After his demise his children are carrying his legacy. Over time he has watched children grow up with little or no English, and therefore, poor job prospects. he wanted to change this and offer the children of village a better future. Hence, on 1st February 1974 under the banner of TTLIPE , Mr. Dulal Hrangkhawl opened the School, built a house for the volunteers, and started lessons for underprivileged children from surrounding villages.
