Hi there!!!
We are a Danish Efterskole which most people know as a boarding school, but here in Denmark we make it a bit more special. This school offers students who are 15-17 the chance to live at the school for a year after they finish their school studies. Here they embark on a year of learning, making friends and navigating their way through what many students consider the best year of their lives. As we are quite remote we pride ourselves on bringing the world into the school and this is what we aim to do with Workaway. We have welcomed many wonderful volunteers from around the world who have joined our very big family here. The goal is for the workawayers to embrace the school and in return become part of this unique and wonderful community of students, teachers and workawayers.
If you are interested in joining and happy to embrace what we are aiming to accomplish, please send a message with a specific request for us and outline why you want to come to an Efterskole.
It’s important to have specific interests that you can share with the students and organise activities around that they will enjoy in the evenings and spare time.
We ask you to stay for a MINIMUM OF 4 WEEKS (max. 3 months) so that you can fully integrate into the school and become part of this beautiful community.
MINIMUM AGE 20 YEARS OLD
We highly value people who jump straight into things and don’t hesitate to build relationships with students and teachers and trust us, they won’t hesitate to welcome you in if you show you are up for it.

You must hold and be able to show an absence of sexual offence certificate or police clearance. Due to the nature of the work and the school environment we cannot accept you if you do not hold this.
Feel free to apply in either English or Italian.
We strictly cannot accept smoking and/or drinking while at the school, house or anytime around the children.
We are able to accomodate special dietary requests.
We strongly suggest you to research about Danish Efterskole’s before applying to see if you would be a good match here. Also check out our instagram, -ask us for the link- to see what we get up to. Again, for all workawayers coming, our number one request is that if you are coming to this beautiful corner of the world that you fully embrace the experience and the students. If you do this we can promise you a truly memorable time and the students will love you for it.

Please only apply if you have a genuine interest in this workaway, this is why we ask for specific requests for our school in your application as we receive many general applications.
We usually have 3-5 workawayers at one time who all share the same house.

Staying here will definitely provide you the chance to experience everything Denmark has to offer and a rich, genuine cultural experience.
As a workawayer you have access to bikes to explore the local areas. You can also use the equipment at the school such as musical equipment, cameras, art supplies, sports equipment, etc. At the school there is a small gym which you can use but if you are the sporty type, the students will keep you fit as they are always up for a match of football, pool, table tennis, padel or snowball fight in winter.

We ask for 25 hours of help a week and this will look different every day. The work primarily consists of tasks Monday-Friday but alternative arrangements are sometimes made for weekends. We are happy to be fairly flexible on the tasks; the more you are happy to work with the students and the more you put yourself out there, the more you will be involved with the school.
This could involve:
Helping out in classes that you have a particular skill or interest in. Such as English, hunting, ceramics, cooking, sports, survival skills, etc.
Providing homework/study help to the students at night.
Joining students and teachers for excursions.
Playing sports/games with the students in their free time. There is access to a large sports hall, table tennis table, pool tables, music room and countless board games. You are also welcome to come up with something we’ve never seen before and show us a bit of your culture.
We always try to accomodate you as best as possible in the school and work to your strengths.

You will be homed in a cozy, or as we say here - "hygge", Danish cottage, only 50 metres away from the school with a shared kitchen and 2 bathrooms to share amongst the workawayers. Meals are provided at the school and we all eat together as a big family 3 times a day for the main meals. 3 smaller meals are provided throughout the day/night as well.

The local train station is a 15 minute walk away which gives you access to the whole of Denmark. The area is quite remote in a town of around 700 people, however the school provides a bustling atmosphere and never leaves you without something to do. In your spare time you can explore the local area which includes many typical and special Danish experiences. Nearby are beautiful towns and hikes/bike rides and a traditional Viking village which is a treat to see.
