Come to Denmark and help me create a Learning Community- and Education Centre - to host youth exchanges as well as introductions to a new bridge-building entrepreneurship education for young people, who want to become independent entrepreneurs or who just want to become leaders in their own life :)
We are getting the place and the grounds ready to host trainings and youth exchanges:
I have bought a beautiful piece of land in Asnæs, Odsherred, Denmark - 8.800 m2, with a couple of old buildings and a newer one. One of the old buildings was an old stables-building, which has now been torn down, but we are working to create a nice yard where it once was, and we have put a small summerhose in its place to act as a café/ice cream parlor :)
The other old building is the very old schoolhouse of the former 'Høve Skole' which functioned as a school from 1837 to 1947 - this building is still standing and has been refurbished a couple of times a few decades ago.
The farmhouse building is a 'work-in-progress' - it now has a new roof and the first floor of the building has been turned into a community room with a kitchen - a hangout for WorkAway'ers and guests.
The newer building is a building from the 70'ies which we call the 'dormitory' - this building has been fitted with new floors in order to have heating-pipes put down. We have just received funding to have a heating pump installed, so our whole geothermal system will eventually work hopefully in the winter of 2022 if the pump can be delivered. First we need to install some new pipes and there will be an opportunity to help our contractor by facilitating this. We also still have to put in a new staircase to the common room and to the auditorium and there are a few indoor tasks fitting cupboards and such ...
Tour de France was visiting Denmark this July - and driving past close by... this brought lots of life to the community, sharing more activities. A great experience and lots of happy people! We have had several of the areas Streetfood market workers living here this summer - this has also brought life and activities.
There are of course lots of tasks to keep the grounds nurtured continuously: we have attempted to grow a big vegetable-garden (not so succesfull this year), we have a football pitch and an orchard.... they all have to be kept free from too many weeds.... And of course we have to take care of the chickens and the rooster in the chicken pen!
Soon we will also have three small kittens living here - they need a home and we need to keep mice from coming inside!
In general the tasks are many: Facilitating the process of installing the heating pumps for the geothermal system, digging better drainage systems for when it rains heavily, repairing the greenhouse, changing some windows plus some repairs and paint-jobs, it would be great to build a couple of shelters on the grounds, so we can camp outside by the fireplace, and at some point building a new garden shed in the vegetable garden from the stones we have collected from the stables building which was torn down is also a wish - because then the big shed can be used as a 'makerspace' for creative unfoldings... but mostly we can create a nice and welcoming yard to receive people - and soon even invite guests for coffee, we can mend the fences around the place, build separating dikes from the many stones we have on the property - AND we can finish the stone-setting which creates the beautiful amfi-theatre on the slope from the buildings to the garden.... It all depends on who comes and which skill-set you want to develop and expand :) :)
It will be great, if you have worked with moving and laying stones before or if you have any experience in carpentry or gardening - or if you just have a will to participate :) :) ...
In short: we want to make the property and the surrounding garden beautiful and welcoming for all the young people who will come to this Learning Community Centre :) :)
You are welcome :)

While getting the place ready, the learning process is about creating community and building something from scratch, creating beauty and priming a beautiful place in nature to receive students. Depending on when in the process you come as a workaway'er there will be different skills to learn. Submerged in the danish culture of the place, but with a community of people from different places and from all walks of life - it is a nice mix of cultures who come to put their mark on this centre.
And thank you so much for coming :)
There are many tasks and many different skills are welcome:
It will be great if you have knowledge about gardening, tending to a vegetable garden, how to create and tend to a brand new lawn and an orchard....
It will be great, if you have experience with moving and laying stones before...(some of them are very big and require machine help)
There is also some plastering tasks, creating the Amfi-theater and building a shed from the old stones...
We have repair-jobs and a staircase will have to be put in / mended (carpentry) and there is still some painting to be done ....
There are daily tasks of tending to chickens and getting the community to work.
So if you have any experience in any of these fields it will be great!
We have rooms with bunk-beds, so you will be staying 2 people in each room.
The beach is within walking distance (1½ km) and we have 3-5 working bicycles which you can borrow to go to the small shopping centre in Asnæs if you wish.
The Academy is in Høve, postal code 4550 Asnæs, Odsherred. It is a 1½ hour train ride from Copenhagen. You get on a train to Holbæk, where you change trains to go towards Nykøbing Sj and you get off in Asnæs. It may be a good idea to get an anonymous travel card (but check other options for young people).
Lots of hiking possibilities, walking to the beach and going for a swim or going for bike-rides. Several of our previous workaway'ers joined the local football-club and participated in tournaments :)

We are currently setting up fibernet in order to achieve a better and stable internet connection. Although we are in the country (and have some hills which impair the connection sometimes), the cable connection should give us stability. We have a common room with a few stationary PC's and a workspace.
It is currently possible to make parking available for WorkAway'ers travelling in campervans.
We have chickens - they are fenced in. We love dogs, so they would be welcome.
