    We are a non profit Community Based Organization that has been registered with the Ministry of culture and social services for its smooth operations in the Sub-County. Areas of interventions are Health Development, Education to the poor and vulnerable, Environmental conservation, Agricultural Development and Support for Orphans and Widows.

    The Organization is based in Mbita . This is where the volunteers will stay during their volunteering period. We are currently much more involved in Farming, school out reaches where we work with different schools teaching them, motivating them on different life skills, taking time to teach orphans and counseling them. Our project is also extended to children beach ministry due to high number of school drop out and early pregnancy experienced at the beaches. There are over ten beaches which are also known as fishing villages.

    We have beneficiaries in different categories that need support.
    Most are very Vulnerable and affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic and poverty.

    We do Organic farming for training the community do farming and stop relying on fishing alone. We therefore welcome those who would like to teach more on organic farming .

    The organization also Works with widows and Orphans within the community and the CHURCH where we Pastor by offering support in terms of skills and know how where need be.

    MISSION
    To promote socio-economic development and status of vulnerable and disadvantaged women, children, youths and men in community settings adopting Behavioral Change strategy.

    VISION
    To see a community where vulnerable and disadvantaged women, youths, children and men live positive and sustainable lives.

    MAIN GOAL
    To reduce the number of unemployment by creating jobs and providing a source of income for House Holds.

    AREA OF OPERATIONS
    The Group operates and give services to the people of Mbita Sub-County, in the rural set up, according to its stipulated objectives.
    The project area of operations includes Rusinga Island, Gembe West location, Gembe East Location and Mfangano East Location (Takawiri and Kibuogi Islands). The scaling up will be achieved through considerable planning to cover the entire Mbita Sub-county.


    AIMS AND MAIN OBJECTIVES
     To facilitate empowerment of the rural community through increased participation in Education, Healthcare services, food security through improved Agricultural methods and promote Environmental conservation and development issues by establishing institutional framework and strong national capacity for the consolidation and replication of both local and international development coalitions and communal development initiative to benefit families in Kenya.
     To give support to the Widows and the Orphans (livelihoods).
     To empower women, men, and youths to handle community projects.
     To organize orientation programs, seminars and discussion groups for members.
     To promote Environmental adaptation, advocacy, Risk management and resilience to climate changes.
     To support the mitigation of socio-economic impact of HIV/AIDS in the area among the families affected by HIV/AIDS.
     To provide training and demonstrate small integrated agriculture and to assist rural people with a BIBLICAL
    approach towards the management of natural resources.
     To borrow money or do FUNDRAISING on such security, if any as may be thought fit.
     To carry out all kinds of business allowed by the law to help members establish themselves and be self-reliant.

    The volunteers will have an opportunity to learn local languages as Kiswahili, learn to cook and eat local dishes which are delicious. They will also have an opportunity to interact with the locals and learn their culture.
    Visit the local places of interests such as Ruma National Park, Lake Victoria and its islands, Gembe Hills, etc.

    We are looking for people that can help in any of the following

    -Teaching children especially English, Mathematics, Christian religion education (CRE) and Science

    -Help in our project work for example monitoring project interventions.

    -FUNDRAISING for project work, our desire to acquire more funds to address the overwhelming needs of Widows, orphaned/Vulnerable children and affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic and their communities.

    -Developing learning materials for children

    -Child sponsorship marketing, this involves searching for individuals and organizations that can SPONSOR orphaned/Vulnerable children's education and community development.

    -Conduct individual child health screening (Doctors are needed)

    -Conducting Sunday school classes.

    -Life skills training for children, this involves equipping children with skills of protecting themselves and others from abuse, career development and making good judgment.

    -Developing reading materials with children. Writing story books with children to improve their reading and writing skills.

    -Spiritual nurture for children

    -Child protection campaigns and life skills training for children to acquire skills of protecting themselves and others from abuse.

    -Gender awareness

    -Help communities understand disaster and develop their disaster preparedness plan.

    -Conduct community awareness meetings on disaster preparedness.

    -Help women groups market their products which include crafts and agricultural products.

    -Teach English to children of 4-5 year

    -Facilitate after school programs for children during holidays

    -Build capacity of staff in design, monitoring and evaluation.

    -Planning and resource mobilization

    -Web design and hosting

    -HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns.

    We are community based and child focused. Our Projects include Education, income generating project, Child protection and Advocacy, Healthcare and nutrition.

    Our Volunteers would be involved in Farming, School out reach program, Community programs, Capacity building, home visits, organizational work.
    We are looking for different categories of volunteers with interest / experience / professions that include People with Organic Farming Experience, teachers, Nurses, Psychologists, book writers, child protection and human rights advocates, Intern students, and those with skills that include PROJECT FUNDRAISING , environmental management and protection, community and women empowerment, spiritual nurture, rural economic development, early childhood development and sustainable agriculture. Volunteers / students without experience but have interest are as well highly welcomed.

    You don't need any qualification to volunteer here, all we need is people with the passion and willingness to help people who are less fortunate than themselves, however some activities require qualified people in a specific field. Volunteers are needed throughout the year. Working with us is an excellent opportunity to combine adventurous foreign travel with a worthwhile job as a volunteer. You will improve your transferable skills such as planning, team-working, presentation and communication, rural development. Above all, this is an unrivaled opportunity to gain an insight into a completely different culture and way of life.

    We can accommodate two people at a time in houses fully furnished with electricity. Bathroom is available. No running water at the moment. Bedrooms are not shared with the family but Kitchen, dinning, bathroom and sitting room are shared. NOTE THIS: SMOKING is not allowed inside the house. WE DON'T HOST A SMOKER. A private accommodation can also be organized for couples. Internet is accessible in the town.

    If you have any special dietary requirement and please kindly let us know to effectively plan for your comfortable stay with us. In regard to this none of us will be offended if a volunteer prepares his/her own food in the kitchen or not interested in the local meals. Grocery shops and super markets are easily accessible. We live in a quiet environment good for relaxing, reading, meditation etc.

    Our Volunteers should know that we use Pit Latrine, we provide three meals a day and we use Taxi and motorcycle as the easiest way of transportation PAID BY YOU.

    PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR ORGANIZATION IS IN IT'S START UP PHASE, we therefore need people that will devote their time to ensure that it is well established to address the overwhelming needs of our target beneficiaries (Those people who has been affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic and poverty, orphans, vulnerable children and also the widows)

    There are no fees to be paid. However, volunteers wishing to donate anything to the family are allowed to do this.
