Description
Hello, my name is Zoe and my favourite things to do are knit, read, write, cook, and walk around places that I've never been. I live in Dublin, Ireland. I moved here for university three years ago from Santa Cruz, California.
Searching for new experiences is partially what brought me to Workaway. The other half is that, at school, I'm so often sitting at a library desk that I feel glued to the chair. I get restless sitting still, and to cure that, this year, I started to knit and read at the same time. It's a great alternative to fidgeting, and combines my two favourite hobbies. I haven't been without a book for more than a few hours ever since I first learned to read— I used to get into trouble in school for reading under the table. I have a big logbook of phrases and situations in my head, collected out of poems, books, essays, and plays. I carry it around with me everywhere and I love to talk about books with people. I try to look at the world like a book: something to focus on, appreciate, and take interest in rather than just glance over.
However, being at school all day gets dull. I look forward to the opportunities that Workaway provides: chances to work outdoors, apply creativity and attention to detail to projects, learn new skills, and explore places and ways of life that are unfamiliar.Interests

What else ...
I go for long runs because it gives me a chance to think clearly and explore; the fact that it's exercise is a major bonus. I'm happiest when I'm on the move from place to place or completely absorbed in knitting and a book. I really like old things: antique furniture, clothes, and knickknacks. I have a button collection that I've mostly picked up off the street— I keep an eye out for them when I'm walking around. Lastly, I love to play cards! Beggar my neighbour, spoons, war, snap, etcetera... I'm always happy to try a game I haven't played before.
