Description

Hello ✮

My name is Kai and I am 22 years old. I am currently in Iceland but plan to travel to many other countries. I have a primary interest in the Nordics, so I hope to begin my travel journeys there, but I am open to a change of plans if an opportunity arises elsewhere ;)
I also possess a strong interest and appreciation for Japan and its culture, so I would love to speak with anyone on the platform who has experience traveling there.

I am very passionate for nature and have strong interest in botany, herbalism, and natural medicine. I gained much of this from living near nature reserves and forests in the past, where I spent all of my time. I initially came to Iceland to assist in forestry. Over the course of two weeks, I planted thousands of saplings along Mt. Esja and Úlfarsfell. This was certainly my most rewarding experience thus far! I hope to further my experience in conservation work and dedicate as much as possible to restoring and protecting nature.

I have also apprenticed at a wildlife rehabilitation sanctuary, where I worked with a multitude of animals. It is my dream to open my own sanctuary one day. I am most passionate and interested in birds/ birds of prey; ravens in particular. I have had many close raven and crow friends in the past ;)

I enjoy discussing music, film, history, literature, folklore, etc.
I can seem reserved upon first meeting, but I do open up once I get to know you.

I would love to gain experience and insight into traditional and self-sufficient practices- I aspire to have my own homestead eventually. I am quite open to many different projects or ideas regarding what you could need help with.
I would be happy to help with more simple tasks as well, such as pet-sitting or tending to gardens. :)

✧˚ · I have informal experience in forestry, for example removing invasive plants in local forests and tending to the pathways,, But I now have some formal experience as well after volunteering for an Icelandic forestry association ;)

✧˚ · I have lots of experience with animals, whether it be pets or wildlife. I also have experience with horses.

✧˚ · I have informal experience in plant and mushroom identification and love making my own oils, salves, tinctures and teas :)

I am a huge Metalhead and am quite a nerd about my favorite bands/the art and genre itself (but I listen to many other genres too). I am a film nerd also, I love horror films and am obsessed with Stanley Kubrick films. I own two tarantulas and a ball python, as well as two dogs. I have a purple belt in Krav Maga and also dabble in jiu jitsu. I love to play the guitar. I like to consider myself a professional crowd surfer at festivals :) I am bit of an “onion” of a person with many layers, so I am just thinking of random facts. I am a hobbyist and do many things and have too many interests, or so I’m told!!!
